Dedicated Server Setup Guide (100% Unofficial guide)

Overview

this guide is 100% unofficial. Please Note: multiplayer dedicated servers are not currently supported by the devs. they are still in development. there are lots of bugs the developers already know this. so if this guide does not work it is not the developers fault and do not complain too them about the bugs.

Important information

This is guide is not official help and is not supported by the developers of fortresscraft. Dedicated servers are currently not supported by the developers. If this guide does not help you get the dedicated server working it is not the developers fault.

The developers are currently still working on full dedicated server support so please do not complain to them or report bugs that are in the dedicated server. as they already know what is wrong with it.

If you can accept the fact that this is not supported and you will get very little support from the developers of the game about the dedicated servers then you should carry on with the guide)

I will not be covering port forwarding in this guide if you would like some help with that then im sure google can help you with that. if you still are struggling feel free to post in this guide and i will try my best to help you out

Making sure you are in the bleeding edge build

This section is all about making sure you are in the bleeding edge build of fortresscraft. if you are already in the bleeding edge build then you may skip to the next section. Be warned that this build can sometimes break your worlds so make sure you have backups or dont care about your worlds.

Step 1: Make sure to back up your world folder as stuff can always go wrong and corrupt worlds. im 99% sure there is already guides on this so i have left this out for now. if you would like me to add this info to the guide then please comment below.

Step 2: go to your steam libary and find fortresscraft evolved and right click it and go to Properties

Step 3: Then you will need to click the Beta tab at the top of the newly opened windows.

Step 4: You will then need to click onto the drop down menu and select the bleeding edge build

Step 5: You may now click close on the properties windows. now you must wait for your game to update too the latest version.

You are now in the bleeding edge build you can move on too the next section.

Getting and setting up the dedicated server.

Step 1: you will need to go into your steam libary and locate fortresscraft again and right click and click on properties.

Step 2: click on the local files tab at the top of the new windows. you will then want to click on the browse local files button below. This will open a new windows explorer tab which contains all your fortresscraft files.

Step 3: You will want to copy and paste the folder named “64” to location where you would like to run the dedicated server from.

Step 4: you can now go into the folder named “64” (make sure you in the one that you just copy and pasted)

Step 5: once you are inside the “64” folder you should see a file called “Dedicated Server” you can now open that and it should open a command prompt type of windows. Please note that this will load the first world it finds in your worlds folder.

Step 6: Your own dedicated server should now be loading up. you must keep the server as the active windows while it is loading up.

Step 7: You may now try logging into the server from the local machine using localhost as the ip if it connects then your server is working correctly on the local netowork. if you look at the servers command prompt you will find your public ip(image above shows where it is located but i have put a white bar over it too protect my ip) that you can then distrubute to your friends so they can conenct to your server. that is if you are port forwarded correctly.

Step 7: if you want to stop your server then you can run the command “quit” from the command prompt interface.

Reminders and more information

please do not complain to the devs about the dedicated server not working, crashing or being full of bugs as it is not supported. if the devs get too much spam about the dedicated servers then i will have to remove this guide.

thank you for reading my guide and i hope this helps you out.

If you are having problems with the dedicated server instead of nagging the devs about bugs and other dedicated server related stuff. you can post it here and i and hopefully other members of the fortresscraft community will help you out until the developer start too official support the dedicated server.
