FortressCraft Evolved Guide

First Survival World for FortressCraft Evolved

First Survival World

Overview

A survival guide to help all the little noobs get a grasp on the basics of Fortresscraft Evolved. Note, this guide assumes you are playing on plentiful resources, where you already have coal automated, and a steady source of fuel. I will update to include tons of tips, help, and guidelines.

1: Starting out

Ok! You just loaded a world, and you have been plopped into a strange planet! Luckily there is a tutorial and a little base, so go through the steps and learn about the machines there, so you know what’s happening. So you have looked through the tips of the tutorial, and know how everything works, yes? Well in case you are still are having trouble, I’ll show you them anyway, so you really understand their function.

2: The CPH

See that big machine shooting that purple beam into the sky? That’s your CPH, and it is your LIFE. Let me explain, the futher you get into the game, and the more efficient and complex your base gets, the more threat you have. Threat determines when you get attacked, and how bad those attacks are. What does this have to do with the CPH? When you are attacked, certain enemies will come to your base, and start trying to destroy your CPH. When your CPH’s health reaches 0, you lose the game, most of the time you can load a save though. 🙂

It also is your main source of energy early in the game, and even a little in the late game. It has solar panels which activate during day, and produce power. At night it can’t use those panels, so you must manually feed it coal, wood, or other burnable blocks so it can keep producing energy.
However you should start with an already set up coal extractor (if you chose plentiful resources), and can supply it with coal for quite a while.

3: The Research Station

On one of the sides of the CPH, you should see a little blue workstation with an antenna, that is your research station. It is how you research technology, recipes, and unlock helpful machines and items to progress in the game. If you press “m” you should be holding a little tablet, this is your scanner. At the start there should be 3 little settings on the tablet, “Ping Unknown”, “Ping Known Ore”, and “Ping Air”. “Ping Unknown” sends out a ping and will highlight any block you have not researched yet. “Ping Known Ore” will highlight any ore you HAVE researched. “Ping Air” will highlight the nearest block of air.

To select one of those, just scroll with the mouse wheel, and when you want to ping with that setting, left click. When you come into contact with a block you want to scan, just hold the right mouse button down while keeping the block highlighted.

To research scans, you simply go into the research station by pressing “e” on the station, go to
“Scans”, click on the scan you want to process, and click “process scan”.
Processing scans will give you research points, which you can spend to research tech and
recipes. To research you esentially do the same thing as processing scans, but instead of clicking on the scans tab, click on the recipes or research tab.

4: The Smelter

There is a machine on the side of the CPH opposite of the research station called the smelter. It is responsible for smelting ores and transforming them into bars used for crafting. To use it, go into the smelter by pressing “e”, there should be 2 little boxes, one on top of the other, put ore into the box on top and it should begin heating up, and after about 1,150 degrees fahrenheit, it will begin smelting. to take bars out, just click and drag them out of the box on the bottom.

5: The Manufacturing Plant

On the back of the CPH, or the side opposite of the coal extractor, there should be a machine with a little robotic arm on top, this is your Manufacturing Plant. It is the crafting table of F.E, and is one of the most important machines in the game. To craft, simply go into the machine, click on the item you want to craft, and click the craft button. Note there is a craft button, and a craft x25 button, the craft x25 button will craft 25 of that item. (ex: 25 torches)

6: The Extractor

The extractor is a handy little machine that mines for you. when you find some ore you wish to mine, just place the extractor on the ore, go into the machine, add some power, and it will begin mining. To give it optimal storage so you don’t have to run back and forth every 2 minutes, put a hopper next to it. If you started with plentiful resources, you should start with an extractor harvesting some coal in front of the CPH.

7: Ending….. For Now

I hope you enjoyed the guide so far, and I hope you learned from it. Right now this is not anywhere near finished quite yet, so I will update it once I get some feedback. Following that, please feel free to comment, tell me what you want added, and I will gladly update it, Thanks again!
