Overview
A quick summary of rewards you can get from playing through the campaign.
Intro: Why to start with the story mode?
Hello to everyone,
after discovering this amazing game I was wondering for a while what lies behind the Story Mode. Being used to Hearthstone’s “business model”, I expected I need to save up to play it and explore the riches that it hides and I kept playing some more PvP in order to be able to learn the basics of the game. Also I tried searching for some basic information including the rewards for playing through the campaign but I did not find anything and back then I decided to make a guide once I finish it myself (and find a little bit of time for it too 🙂 ).
After a week or two I finally decided to give it a try and I discovered it is actually free! I was already a bit experienced in the game and thus the missions did not feel particularly hard anymore but I do not think that they would be challenging even for completely new players, to whom it may actually serve as a great learning material.
For now there are only 11 missions available which should take you up to two hours and believe me – the rewards are well worth it! As a positive externality, you will be able to level up the commanders you are playing with, thus earning few extra cards from the basic set.
Reasons to play the campaign:
- Absolutely free
- Rich rewards (see below)
- Good way to learn the basics
- Leveling up Terrans and Consortium (only these two for now) obtaining extra Basic cards
- No decks needed since you are playing with pre-constructed ones
1st Block (Terrans)
Your campaign journey will start representing the Terrans as Admiral Anna Borodina. This block of the campaign consists of a total of 5 missions. By completing them you can earn booster packs and some extra non-basic (!) cards (just a reminder – the quality of the cards in Star Crusade are from highest to lowest Paragon > Heroic > Elite > Conscript).
The rewards I received for the first 5 missions were the following:
- 1st Mission – 1x Booster pack
- 2nd Mission – 1x Mobilize (Elite card)
- 3rd Mission – 1x Booster + 1x Heavy Armor (Elite card)
- 4th Mission – 1x Booster + 1x Lieutenant (Heroic card)
- 5th Mission – 1x Sect Recruiter (Heroic card)
2nd Block (Consortium)
After finishing the first 5 missions playing as Terran, you will unlock the second block of missions. In these you will take the role of San Bara, the CEO of Systems Trade Consortium. Similarly to the Terran part of the campaign, there are far encounters awaiting you.
The rewards I got from them were the following:
- 6th Mission – 1x Booster
- 7th Mission – 1x Council Levy (Elite card)
- 8th Mission – 1x Booster + Eridani Guards (Elite card)
- 9th Mission – 1x Booster + Syndicate Collector (Heroic card)
- 10th Mission – 1x Despaired Debtor (Heroic card)
11th Missions (Terrans or Consortium)
In the last available mission (for now) you can actually pick one of the two sides you were representing before and fight against the one you did not choose. I believe it is only a matter of choice and it makes no difference whether you play as the Terrans or the Consortium.
The reward for finishing the 11th mission:
- 3x Booster
