Overview
Basic information, game currency and priorities. This guide focus more on new players or non coiners that want to plan what to do with the gold they get in the game. Take in mind that buying gold isn’t needed to enjoy this game; but it’s recommended to keep this game going and have an extra edge while playing, especially if you enjoy playing it.
Basic information
There are three types of currencies in the game:
- Wulongs, most common currency in game.
- Minerals, also known as Materials.
- Gold, it is harder to get than the other two and gives us access to the best gear/equipment in the game.
There are four types of gear/equipment colors in the game: Grey, Green, Orange and Purple; the last two cost gold.
- Grey is the basic starting gear. Grey consumables will be your only option at the beginning of the game, and they are a good option for low level mercenaries.
- Green is the best you can access without spending gold. There are more green weapons and armor than in other colors, some are really decent and others not so good. Top Green gear is almost as good as Orange gear, this is the gear that new players should focus to get. Green Implants are always needed, and green consumables are great for random battles, clan battles and a cheap option for tournaments.
- Orange, for some it is elite gear for others cheap gold stuff. Orange has some good weapons and armor, at a reasonable gold price. Orange offers a good variaty of implants and in some cases are the best implants for some mercenaries. Consumables are the top of the line and are needed for high-end battles like tournaments.
- Purple gear is the top of the line. The best weapons and armor at a cost, lots of gold. Purple implants are expensive and not always the best option.
Gold priorities
Leveling from 1 to 10 will give you 120 gold, getting a mercenary from generation I level 1 to generation X level 10 is a total of 1200 gold. That way you can buy good gear for your mercenaries without buying gold. The total amount of gold you can get this way is 6000.
What to buy with my gold?
- More mercenaries
- Backpack
- Armor
- Implants
The first investment you should make is buying all of the mercenaries, Bobby, Greg and Leto. This gives you more game options, more potential gold and more fun in the game. So as sooner you buy them, as sooner you can put them to work in the training schedule.
It is easier and faster to level first all your mercenaries from generation I to generation IV than leveling one from generation I to generation X. That way you will get enough gold to buy most of the basic stuff you need, after that you can focus on getting one of your mercenaries to generation X.
A good Backpack helps with almost all your mercenaries, the Alliance Backpack (best in game) costs 132 gold. This isn’t that expensive, so it’s a really good investment to make.
Armor, the good thing about buying armor is you can use it with almost all mercenaries.
Agent armor (Purple) is a good option for non coiners who want to play tournaments as soon as possible, but take in mind buying later a full set of Paladin armor will not be possible without buying some gold.
For those who want to have a full Paladin set (top Purple armor) should take in mind that buying it and fully upgrading it will take most of the “free” gold you get leveling, leaving really little gold to buy weapons, implants and other stuff. But its is the best armor in game, making it the best option for tournaments.
A cheap and decent option, that makes life easier while leveling, is buying Alliance Armor (top Orange armor). Since its cheaper than Agent and Paladin you can access it earlier in the game, but resistance is weaker than Agent and Paladin to use it in high-end battles.
Bobby uses frames and not the same armor as the other mercenaries, since its only one piece of armor its more expensive as one single piece of other armor sets, but it is cheaper than all three pieces together. This is why Bobby is the cheapest mercenary to get fully geared.
Weapons are expensive, you will probably want to save your gold and buy a high end weapon for the mercenary you enjoy playing the most. Since each mercenary uses only one kind of weapon, John – rifles, Lira – SMG, Bobby – machine gun, Greg – assault rifle and Leto – pistols, you won’t be able to get the top weapon for each mercenary; in fact you probably will only get one if you really save your gold, or two if you buy cheap armor.
Most gold implants are best bought when we specialize in one mercenary. This will happen once your mercenary reaches generation VII or higher, until then Green implants work great.
Costs in gold for top gear
This is a small list of costs, so you can plan what you want to do with the gold you get while playing; either save it until you can buy top gear, or buy gear that helps while leveling.
It is not needed to have the best of everything to enjoy this game, part of the fun is mixing armor and finding your own builds of gear, implants and stats.
Armor:
- Paladin armor (Purple): Head 700 gold, Chest 1205 gold, Legs 953 gold = a total of 2858 gold
- Agent Armor (Purple): Head 306 gold, Chest 531 gold, Legs 419 gold = a total of 1256 gold
- Alliance Armor(Orange): Head 137 gold, Chest 240 gold, Legs 188 gold = a total of 565 gold
- Crusader Frame (Purple) 2280 gold (highest defense in game)
- Legionnaire Frame (Purple) 1020 gold
Since there are so many weapons i will just put an estimated amount, but SMG (Lira) are the cheapest and Machine Gun / Assault Rifles (Bobby and Greg) the most expensive.
The best Purple weapons cost varies from 1227 to 1775 gold.
The second best Purple weapons cost varies from 533 to 771 gold.
Take in mind that upgrading armors and weapons will also cost gold, wulongs and minerals. Paladin armor, Crusader frame and top weapons are the most expensive to upgrade.
For example:
Having a full geared John will costs around 5117 gold without upgrades.
- Full paladin set 2858 gold
- Paradigm Rifle 1638 gold
- Orange implants x3 163 gold each, 489 gold total
- Alliance backpack 132 gold
To fully upgrade the Paladin armor and Paradigm Rifle you will probably need to buy gold.
So its either the top weapon in game for one mercernary or the top armor for four mercenaries.
Having a full geared Bobby means spending 4544 gold without upgrades
- Crusader frame 2280 gold
- Tetragrammaton Machine Gun 1775 gold
- Orange implants x3 163 gold each, 489 gold total
To fully upgrade the Crusader frame and Tetragrammaton Machine Gun you will probably spend the rest of the “free” leveling gold leaving really little for the other mercenaries.
