Overview
A short guide on every boss in the game.
Weapons
Sword & Shield: Attacks quickly and consumes very little stamina. Allows you to parry and block attacks.
Two-Hander: A long range weapon that can stun most bosses.
Dual Swords (Ice Picks?): Obtained by defeating Chanel (Lust) for the first time.
Crescent Halberd & False Shield: Obtained by defeating Modic (Cowardice) after chopping his head off. I did this with the Two-Hander when he was around 50% health.
Blades of Gluttony: Obtained by defeating Adam for the first time.
Scythe of Greed: Obtained by defeating Adam with the alternate ending (Exalted achievement).
* There might be more weapons that I haven’t found.
Boss Order
My recommendation is to complete the bosses in the order I’ve listed them in this guide. This is primarily because Wrath and Gluttony have the worst sacrifices and should therefore be done at the very end. Their sacrifices reduce your defenses and healing which increases your chances of dying before learning an encounter. If you get stuck on Lust or Envy then you may want to try Sloth earlier on.
Greedy Faiz Tilus
Sacrifice: Health and stamina decreased. This is around 25% of your base health and stamina.
Recommended Weapon: Sword & Shield
Difficulty: 2/5
The easiest way to deal with this boss is to get close to him and parry his attack, hit him a few times, and then roll away before he flaps his wings. His quicker side attacks are easy to parry, but his slow overhead attack is more difficult to time. Make sure to also throw bombs at him because they deal a lot of damage. He can cast a large homing projectile that you can parry, block, or break by rolling into it. If he poisons you then you can cure it by rolling around in the pond. He also has a handful of other spells, such as exploding slugs, poison plants, and smaller projectiles, and but these should be easy enough to avoid.
Once Faiz reaches half health he will teleport to the giant stump and becomes untargetable. You will need to run to the shacks at the edge of the arena or past the pond to avoid his miasma cloud that he casts. After some time the miasma will dissapate and he will teleport off of the stump again. Once he reaches 25% health he will teleport to the stump and summon 4 crow shamans. These will start casting a hex spell that will instantly kill you if you do not kill them first.
Lustful Chanel
Sacrifice: Shield Shatters after defense is broken. Your shield breaks if you lose all of your stamina while blocking.
Recommended Weapon: Two-Hander
Difficulty: 4/5
Note: You may want to defeat Sloth before this boss for practice.
The easiest strategy during phase 1 is to run and dodge behind her as much as possible. If she rolls away then you should back off and dodge her bow attacks until she starts walking towards you again. At 50% health she will roll away and perform an AOE and her weapons will become longer.
When she reaches 15% health she will transform into a giant worm and regain all of her health. Your primary goal in this phase should still be to stay behind her as much as possible. Wait until she begins an attack and then dodge/run to get behind her. Wait until she stops turning before attacking her.
(hit a plant and then walk into it)
(don’t heal or use items? defeat her without getting hit by arrows?)
Cowardly Modic
Sacrifice: None
Recommended Weapon: Two-Hander
Difficulty: 2/5
This boss can only be fought after you defeat Lust and talk to her ghost multiple times. The only trick to this boss is to stay to the side of him as much as possible. After each attack you should immediately roll to the side and regenerate stamina before attacking again. He will sometimes spawn eggs that can hatch with baby chickens that will attack you. These can be avoided by dragging the boss away from them.
Envious Levin Undok
Sacrifice: Lose supplies. 10/20 spears, 3/7 bombs, 0/2 fire buffs
Recommended Weapon: Sword & Shield
Difficulty: 4/5
The boss will usually starts by throwing a boomerang at you which you can avoid this by strafing and dodging. The best way to counter this form is to stay behind her as much as possible. You can also parry her attacks but it’s easier to just avoid her attacks by staying behind her. If she backs away from you then you should immediately avoid and/or block the cone of weapons she shoots out.
Eventually she will swap heads and become dark/silver. This form casts 3 different spells that you need to avoid. The most dangerous spell she casts is a cloud that shoots out sparks. If you stay in the middle of the cloud then all of the projectiles will hit you and you will die. The other attack you should avoid is her large electric ring around her. This has a long wind up so you should be able to see it coming and run away before it finishes casting. Her third spell causes points of light to appear on the floor and detonate with lightning. This is the best spell to attack her as you should be able to avoid most of them.
After you bring one of the forms below 50% health they both will spawn. The best way to deal with this phase is to target the weakest one and throw spears/bombs until it dies. If you wait long enough they will both start spinning shoot lightning around the room. You can avoid this by standing behind a pillar. Once one of them is dead the chandeliers will start falling from the ceiling, but these aren’t very dangerous.
Slothful Yordo
Sacrifice: Collapse when out of stamina
Difficulty: 3/5
Weapon: Two-Hander
This fight is fairly tedious, but not that difficult. All you need to do for a majority of the fight is run behind Yordo and wait for him to attack before countering. Yordo’s guards will usually charge you if you are close to him, so make sure to dodge away. You can also throw a spear at him to force him to roll away from his guards and be more vulnerable. Repeat this until he is 2/3 health and phase 2 starts. Now he will blow his horn and teleport his guards around. When they are surrounding him you can throw bombs to break their ranks. The guards will also teleport around you and charge you. Make sure to start running away immediately because the guards will combo you to death. Eventually Yordo will pull out a two-handed sword when he reaches 1/3 health. At this point you can chuck spears at him until he dies.
Proud Rhodes
Sacrifice: Attack Power Down
Difficulty: 5/5
Weapon: Two-Hander or Dual Swords
During this whole fight you should target his leg closest to his shield and stay behind him as much as possible. Make sure to avoid the projectiles that he shoots out. Once he reaches 50% health and 25% health he will summon some slow moving minions that can get very annoying. Do not stand near him while he is summoning these units. If you are far away from him during this phase he will throw sweeping projectiles at you which are fairly difficult to avoid. You can roll through the large arcs that he shoots out or strafe to the side for the vertical projectiles. If you are close to him he will perform a delayed slam AOE two times in a row. Your best option is to stay close to him when he does this and time your dodges. He will also sometimes charge you with his shield which can push you out of the arena.
Gluttonous Camber Luce
Sacrifice: Lose 2 potions (5 instead of 7) and makes healing very slow instead of instant.
Difficulty: 4/5
Weapon: Two-Hander
Start the fight by baiting the boss into attacking an ice mound, then fight the boss on top of this area. This will help you avoid dealing with falling into the water. Now all you need to do is dodge/run behind the boss and attack his rear. You can also wait until he finishes throwing up pink projectiles before attacking him. He takes double damage if you attack him while his belly is open. You should also back away from him if you are in front of his belly and he doesn’t immediately start swinging his weapons because he will try to eat you. Once he reaches half health he will start using a rolling charge attack. This can instantly kill you if you have beaten Wrath already. You can avoid this attack if you are prepared and run far away before he uses it. You can also bait him into rolling into an ice mound to stun him, but be careful of the ice shards that come out after this. His belly can also glow black and he will start regenerating health. Make sure to throw a spear at his stomach to interrupt this.
(don’t hit him while he’s stunned or his belly is open)
Wrathful Angronn
Sacrifice: Defense power decreased. Self-healing ability lost (passive regen).
Difficulty: 2/5
Weapon: Two-Hander
All you really need to do is dodge and punish his attacks. The two easiest attacks to punish are his thrust attack and his triple attack with both hands. Dodge away from him if he slams one fist down because he can follow up with a swipe that will push you into the lava. Every time he loses 20% health he loses he will roar and then break the floor. Make sure you immediately run from him when he starts the roar so you don’t fall into the lava. After he returns to the arena he will launch some weapons that fall from the sky. Sometimes he will throw lava balls and exploding enemies, but these are easy to avoid and don’t do much damage. He will also shoot a laser beam out of his mouth.
(defeat him in the last part of the arena)
Adam, The Forsaken
Sacrifice: None
Difficulty: 5/5
Recommended Weapon: Sword & Shield and Two-Hander
During his first phase he will have a sword and shield. Your best strategy is to parry him and immediately attack. When he reaches 2/3 health he will pull out his two-handed sword. You can switch to a two-hander at this point as well. From this point you just need to dodge and run around him and hit him after he does any attack. Make sure you are careful because he will also counter you whenever he does a long pause after his attacks. Once he reaches 1/3 health he will buff himself with fire. After 20 seconds the buff will end and cause a small explosion where he will recast it.
This is a video of the alternate version of the boss and ending. Sorry for not including the normal version of the boss. I’m also sorry for the poor gameplay but I beat him on my first try.
Other Achievements
(Can be done from anywhere and does not require an enemy. Easiest if done with the sword & shield before being Faiz.)
