Main Characters

Jonas is Alex’s new step-brother and is deuteragonist to Oxenfree.
About the same height as Clarissa, taller than most of the other characters
Personality
Alex’s new step-brother.
Wiser than his years with a mordant wit, he’s had a slightly rough life and carries the hint of a mysterious past (there are rumors that he’s been arrested, but the details of his supposed crime are unknown).
Still missing his mother who succumbed to cancer, he isn’t quick to open up to new people, though is at his core a good-natured boy who can be extraordinarily loyal when he trusts you.
Trivia
He doesn’t know how to ride a horse.
When describing his ideal girl, it is revealed that the characteristics fit exactly with Carmen Sandeigo.
One song that is played during the game is titled “Lost”, which is a song that Jonas’s mother used to listen to. Jonas is certain that the humming in the song is his mother’s voice.

Alexandra, better known as Alex, is the main protagonist of Oxenfree.
She is the player-controlled character.
Age is 17 & a junior in high school
Personality
Alex is a bright, rebellious teenager.
Her general disposition is witty and sarcastic, but player choices can determine whether or not she is more negative or positive towards other characters.
Players can shape her personality and her relationships with Clarissa, Ren, Nona, and Jonas with her dialogue options in-game.
Trivia
Alex’s red jacket once belonged to her brother Michael.
She seems to have a fondness for history.
Alex did not know how to swim a week before Michael’s death and it is possible he was teaching her at the lake where he ultimately dies and eventually lead Clarissa to hate & being mean to her.

Reginald, better known as Ren,
Childhood friend of Alex
Has a crush on Nona, and occasionally does drugs.
He plays in a band called the Redheaded Bedwetters
Personality
Alex’s oldest friend.
Wryly intelligent, a bit of a stoner, and easily excitable about even the faintest possibility of fun; one of the few people that Alex considers a “peer.”
He plays guitar in a garage band, and his greatest accomplishment in life so far is being the best in his group at video games.

Nona serves as one of the five main characters and is Clarissa’s best friend.
She is a love interest to Ren and (possibly) Jonas.
Personality
Clarissa’s best friend.
A somewhat shy girl, she idolizes and mimics Clarissa when with her, but is slowly coming out of her shell when apart.
Smoker, chews her nails, good at piano, disdainful of people she deems losers but has a huge desire to learn and improve herself

Clarissa serves as Oxenfree’s somewhat unwitting antagonist.
She used to date Alex’s brother Michael before his death the year prior to the game’s beginning.
Clarissa is taller than all of the other character in-game, aside from Jonas
Personality
To any outsider, appears to have the world on a string.
Extremely popular among the students (and well-liked among parents and teachers for her seeming ease at attaining good grades), she nonetheless has a darkened edge that comes with her coldness to strangers and general anxiety for the future.
She used to date Alex’s late brother, Michael, and she holds Alex responsible for his untimely death.
Trivia
Clarissa’s worst fear is dying with too many regrets.
She plans to get an ampersand tattoo on her ring finger once she moves out of her parents’ home.
According to Nona, she taps her nails when she’s bored.
She has a sister.
She has a dog named Charlie, and gets another dog after one version of the ending.

Michael is Alex’s, pre-game, deceased brother as well as Clarissa’s boyfriend.
Before leaving for college, Alex wanted to go swimming with him for the last time.
He drowned while swimming in the lake.
Personality
Michael is seen as a model student, a football player, well loved and the one to give the speech at graduation.
He is a caring brother, seen as how he treats Alex and even requires her blessing to leave for College and live on his own with Clarissa
Bio
Alex’s older brother.
Basically the perfect sibling, he’s supportive, affable, funny, willing to protect his little sister but not overprotective.
She considers him her guide post for what’s to come, a job he enjoys.
Trivia
In the ending where you sacrifice Clarissa, Michael tells Alex his last ex-girlfriend was Kristin
