Overview
A guide to help you open edit and then repack XNB files.
What programs do you need?
This folder[drive.google.com] has all the programs you would need.
1. XNB Mod Toolkit.
Includes a ”Readme” file inside the folder. Easy to use. It has a .bat extension. Just a heads up for those who prefer working with other extensions.
Directions:
- Unzip the contents of this zip-file to somewhere you can work with files.
- Put your any .XNB file(s) you want to modify in the PACKED folder
- Double click UNPACK FILES.BAT to extract the contents. Everything will go into the UNPACKED folder where you can edit the .PNG files.
- To re-compile the image. Just double click PACK FILES.BAT, and everything will compile and overwrite the contents of the PACKED folder.
2. ”Terraria” folder.
Basically the folder for the other game. However the program should be able to open this game’s files as well.
How to use it: Simply drag and drop the xnb texture file(s) onto the executable and or run it from cmd TerrariaXNB2PNG.
3. XNB to PNG converter.
A very simple, easy to use program. A ”Readme” file is inside.
The easiest way to use this program is to copy the XNB file into the same folder as the program and then enter the file name of the XNB file without the file extension (e.g. file instead of file.xnb) in XNB Exporter, and then press Go for it!.
4. XNB Extract.
Similar to the first one. A ”Readme” file is inside. Also has .bat extension you’ll be using.
- Microsoft XNA Game Studio, is a tool that works with Microsoft Visual Studio to help create video games for Microsoft Windows. This program, however, isn’t a practical tool to extract images from XNB files.
Always backup your files prior to making changes!
