Overview
A fool proof plan for keeping Quantum Slimes in check.
Basics
[Essentials]
- Quantum Slimes can only teleport (and create ghosts) when on the ground
- This means that keeping them off the ground prevents them escaping
- They eat fruit, and vegetables spoil, so chickens are the best option
- Fill the pen with ~200-400 chickens (avoid roosters and chicks), creating a chicken layer to keep them off the ground
- Use the suction pack to even out the chickens so they sit roughly flat
- Add Quantum Slimes on top of the chickens
- Profit
Notes & Tips
[Useful to know]
- Plorts when regularly harvested cause no trouble
- Plort buildup is potentially problematic in that it might create a large gap in the chicken layer when removed, but this can be easily avoided using automation, or vacuuming up the slimes before harvesting
- I personally didn’t use roosters or chicks to avoid the complications of having breeding take place in the pen, though it could theoretically generate a lot of meat
- The vacuum pack can be used to disrupt the chicken layer, leading to quantum escapes, I recommend not using it on the pen unless you plan to vacuum up all the slimes. (If you notice my water level drops between images, its because I usually play with a controller, so I messed up using my keyboard and mouse and caused a sizeable hole in the poultry shield and had to use some water to calm things down until I could fix it).
- Slimes seem to be totally stable even when agitated, provided the chickens aren’t disrupted. They are still unable to teleport even when practically starved, so the challenges they pose are the same as those of other slimes (except that the roof is easier for them to hit, due to the chicken-based elevation).
- This method is admittedly pretty time consuming to set up, but it reduces the difficulty of quantum farming almost to zero, meaning I was free to explore the ranch with no fear of my farm being disrupted by these little yellow guys.
