This guide will explain how I got the Crystal Cruiser in less than an hour (Note: May be easier depending on what ships you have)
Brief Explanation
How to get the cruiser easily
With the new advanced edition update not only does it come with a range of new ships, a new race and new areas with new events, but also contains a quick and easy way to get the crystal cruiser. The Rock Cruiser Type C.
Although the new cruiser in my opinion isn’t one of the best, it actually does start with a crystal crew member. This means not only can you use one without having to unlock the cruiser, but also means you can skip the whole crystal pod and crystal crew member steps in unlocking the cruiser. Now when you use this ship because you already have a crystal crew member you only need to find a Rock Homeworlds sector where you will be searching for a normal node (No events such as: Shops, distress, danger or hazard) to teleport you to the crystal sector where you will have to travel to the quest beacon to finally unlock the cruiser.
This is the end of the guide for anyone who has already got the Rock cruiser and its type B and C variants, but for those who want to find out how look below.
The Rock Cruiser
If you are reading this it probably means you haven’t unlocked the rock cruiser or its Type B and C variants.
Rock Cruiser (A)
Unlocking it to begin with is probably the hardest step you must follow these steps in this order to unlock the cruiser.
1) Find the Rock Homeworlds
2) Find a non-distress beacon (Will have a warning of a possible ship if you have the long range scanners equiped)
3) You will be given a choice the first two will give you a quest beacon if chosen while the 3rd will just leave you as you were.
4) The quest beacon will appear on a sun beacon which you will have to reach
5) You must NOT destroy their ship or kill the crew, to earn their trust you must allow them to jump away after which you will recieve another quest beacon
6) Go to the final quest beacon and earn not only the Rock Cruiser, but the Rock Plating augment which gives you a 15% chance not to take damage when hit
Rock Cruiser (B)
For this one you just need to unlock 2/3 achievements. I would recomend the first 2, unless you are super lucky in which case you don’t need to be reading this guide any further. The achievements are:
Is it warm in here? – Have your crew kill a burning enemy on their ship while using the Rock Cruiser.
Defense Drones Don’t Do D’anything! – While using the Rock Cruiser, destroy an enemy ship which has a defense drone deployed using only missiles.
Ancestry – Find the secret sector with the Rock Cruiser.
Rock Cruiser (C)
This one, not so hard. Just get to sector 8 with advanced mode enabled while using the Rock Cruiser type B.
