Tips&Tricks for Custom chambers

Overview

In this guide i will describe some tips and tricks, that you can use, while making your own chamber. Some of them can be already used by many mapmakers.IF YOU WANT TO COPYPASTE THIS GUIDE, PLEASE, LEAVE A LINK TO THE ORIGINAL SOURCE

Switching panels

This is probably most common trick, you can use to make your chamber more creative. It can be used as a view spot, where you can make player to see the button or panel, that cannot be seen from usual places. It’s not necessary to actually switch the panel to stand on it, you can just place it while in editor.

I’ve launched myself on that panel – it’s my friend’s view

Now, as you can see on this screenshot, we both are standing on the panel.

Glass

Same thing, like panel, but with glass. The difference is that you can only stand on lower part of it, like on screenshot. Also, you can use it, if you are TOO lazy to press and hold TAB.

Buttons

You can use this buttons not only for activating something, but you can also stand on it!
Example: You need to place the cube on button, but you cannot reach it for any reason. BUT if there is a button placed near it, then you can crouch-jump to it, so you can drop the cube. Like Michael Jordan, but with cube. It can be quite harder, than usual crouch-jump in CS of TF, but it’s possible.

You can practice this trick here

Cube+Ball=Solved

If you want to make opening the exit harder, you can do this:
1.Place a ball-button on the ceiling
2.Lift the ball with a funnel
3.Place a Reflection cube below the ball, so the laser can get to the Relay

Practical using showed here

Angled panels and ladders

You can place an angled panel or ladder on the wall, to make some sort of a bridge. Make sure you have a button to activate them, or leave them active from the beginning, and keep balance, while moving on them. They can be used in many ways: blocking the laser’s way to relay, laser redirection (requires white surface) and bridge at the same time! Use your fantasy in order to make this.
This is quite an easy trick to make, nothing usual

The end

That’s probably, the end of the guide.

I’m planning to update the guide with videos or screenshots, if you find this guide useful. I would appreciate this.
