Enable mouse and keyboard binding for movement

Overview

This guide is meant to show you how to bypass the annoying key-unbinding bug in risk of rain 2. At the very least allowing you to move using the RMB and keyboard.

Let Me Unbind That Key For You!

ROR2 has the infuriating habit of unbinding my RMB(Fordward Movement) when I set the rest of my movement on the keyboard. yes, I enjoy this niche control scheme.

The Solution

Warning the instructions can get finicky. consider creating a backup of the file we are about to change.

1. Lunch the game and setup your keybindings, leaving Move Fordward unbound.
2. Close the game.
3. Search Steam to find the userdata for the game’s profile. Look for this #632360
   C:Program Files (x86)Steamuserdata[STEAM_ID]632360remoteUserProfiles

4. Edit the XML file with whatever text editor you like. I just used wordpad.
5. Find the section containing the </mouseMap> element.
   
6. A few rows bofore it you will find the following line of text containing “buttonMaps” :
   
7. Make a line of space before it and paste this text

8. Save and start the game.
9. Check the settings to ensure that Move Fordward is bound to RMB(mouse2) .
