How to make IGAvania accept your greasy mayo smelling knock off controller for the game.Or even just recognize your regular Xbox 360 controller, really.
1) Download X360CE

Well known software used mainly for reconfigurating the buttons of your Xbox Controller and forcing games interpreting them differently than the default setting, so you can custom your stuff.
But it also allows any WORKING PC controller to be recognized by the game as a XBOX controller.
For instance, it allows you to play Castle Crashers with your off-brand controller even though it’s supposed to work only with Xbox controllers.
After downloading it, there will be an executable file called “x360ce” or “x360ce_32” or “x360ce_64” depending on which version you picked.
Make sure not to lose it somewhere.
2) Localizing the TRUE game application folder and inserting x360ce into it
Go to your steam folder, most people know about this, but if you don’t:
- 1) Right click the game on your steam library and select Properties
- 2) Switch to the tab Local Files and press the button Browse Local Files…~
- 3) Bam you’re inside the game folder.
The executable you see there is not the one that handles the game
Enter these folders:
Bloodstained Ritual of the Night > BloodstainedRotN > Binaries > Win64
There you go, now you see the correct game application, which is named BloodstainedRotN-Win64-Shipping.exe
Now copy and paste x360ce_x64.exe in there, and then OPEN IT AS ADMINSTRATOR (Right click > Open as admin)
3) Setting up your controller on x360ce
Remember to have the controller plugged in before opening it, and then it will automatically detect your controller and suggest “looking in the internet” for its configuration.
Accept that option and confirm the search.
After a while, it will find something, accept that configuration.
Now, you’ll see a xbox controller in the middle of the screen along with options to change the buttons
First, at the very top, there’s a select box labeled as “Select a game to customize”. it should probably have x360ce set up. change it to BloodstainedRotN-Win64-Shipping.exe
Now yes, you can test buttons and change them as you may need.
After everything is done, click on the Save button at the bottom right of the screen, but no need to close x360ce.
4) Enjoy the game
If you’re sure everything in Step 1, 2 and 3 were followed correctly then it should be working fine.
it’s normal if you cannot skip the intro with the controller, i couldn’t either.
But as soon as you get to the title screen, the controller now suddenly works.
