Permanently Delete Steam Cloud Saves (Half-Life 1)

Overview

This guide describes how to permanently delete save games in steam cloud

Steam Cloud

To go through the procedure, I think u should know the basics of steam cloud.

Steam Cloud is used to backup config files and savegames online in order to access them from every computer. It’s a feature that can be enabled/disabled through two different dialogs:
– Steam > Settings > Downloads + Cloud > Enable Steam Cloud synchronization for games which support it (will affect all the games)
– Right-click on a game > Properties > Updates > Enable Steam Cloud synchronization for GameName (will only affect the selected game

How Steam Cloud Works

U can easily guess dat, der are 2 versions of sav games in Half-Life 1.
– 1 is Located on C:Program FilesSteamSteam AppsCommonHalf-LifeValveSAVES
– 2 is located on steam servers.

Steam Cloud automatically downloads the missing files each time you start Steam. So deleting steam saves on the system is not gonna work. You know dat, if der is modification in d system save games, and if dey r newer, dey will be uploaded to steam servers. So we will take advantage of this factor.

Cleaning Steam Cloud Servers

So letmme show u d steps to bring this dialogue box.

  • Go to the system save location (Steam AppsCommonHalf-LifeValveSaves)
  • Open each .sav files with notepad
  • Select all d text using Ctrl+A
  • Delete d text in all d files der and save dem one by one
  • Right Click on Hal-Life App on steam
  • Disable and Enable Steam Cloud without closing d dialogue box (Aftr disabling steam cloud)
  • U can see dat the stored content changes to 22 KB
  • After that close box (Cloud enabled) and run d game
  • Maybe the cloud sync dialogue box appers, (If appears, minimise and go to system saves, delete all saves and choose to upload to server)

Notes : Cloud sync DIalogue box is a dialogue box dat comes up when d system saves hav been unusually modified abruptly.
