Overview
Rain update came so I made a rain guide. It explains the new items and stuff added in the update.
1: Rain?
You might be asking yourself right now,”What’s a little rain going to do?” Well, rain can’t hurt you directly but it will dampen your spirits or sanity as in-game. The first sign of rain is that your screen gets darker indicating the coming of rain. Rain also causes lighting which can burn objects like a berry farm. Luckily if you are unfamiliar with this update I made a guide to help you keep sane during bad weather.
2: More SCIENCE!!!
Since the bringing of rain from Maxwell and his friends at Klei. Wilson has made a new machine to predict rain. That is the rainometer!
The other science object is the Shadow Manipulator which I don’t even think is science but oh well.
The only thing it does is unlock the rest of the magic items like the ice staff.
3: What rain does
As I have explained, when rain comes your sanity decreases at the same rate as if you were in the dark. After a lengthy period of time it makes Wilson go insane at a heavy rate. Rain also causes torches, campfires and firepits to extinguish faster. Rain also causes lighting which can’t hit the player but will hit objects such as trees. However, rain has a positive effect that is it causes mushrooms to grow back and plants to grow faster.
4: More Monsters to kill
The first monster added in this update is the Clockwork Knight. He has 300 health and does 40 damage. When killed, they drop Gears which are used to make an icebox.
The next mob it the merm! They are basically fish pigs but they live in rundown houses and always attacks you. The spawn at a rapid rate during evening 10 might spawn from one house who know what they do in there, probably play Don’t Starve or something They have 250 health and they drop frog legs and fish on death.
The last mob they added is the Guardian Pig. They are stronger then normal pigs with 300 health and they can’t be befriended with meat. They spawn from pigtorches which appear in pig fortresses in adventure mode and they will attack if you go in the fortress. On a full moon they transform into werepigs but quickly revert back.
5: More items
With the update comes new items! The Drying Rack lets you dry meats into jerky! Stuff the spoils very slowly. There’s also a new healing item called the Honey Poultice which heals 30 health on use. The umbrella is the main thing to protect against rain. The Ham Bat which makes it so you can hit people with ham in Don’t Starve and Team Fortress 2. The One-Man-Band which makes you not so alone as you attract pigs. Did I also mention gunpowder? Well you can blow stuff up with it. Just light it on fire.
Enjoy!
6: Other stuff
Mushrooms! Are now in Don’t Starve. The red one deals 20 damage to you, the green one makes you go insane and the blue one makes you go slightly insane but also heal you a bit. Evil flowers spawn not really important. One big thing is the Wasp Nest. It only spawns killer bees. You can feed a captured bird meat so it can lay an egg. Nitire can be mined from rocks to make gunpowder. You can make carpets and tile flooring. Also hound mounds spawn in adventure mode so be sure to be careful.
7: That’s it
That’s all there is for this update. The Don’t Starve wiki is a great place to look for information. All the images are owned by Don’t Starve wiki too. Also be sure not to let rain, rain on your Don’t Starve day.
