List of Sims 4 Deaths

Overview

This guide lists all currently known deaths throughout The Sims 4 and it’s expansion packs, as listed on the Sims Wiki on Fandom. The bold text is the death’s name, just in case you are confused.

Base Game

Starvation If a teen or older Sim’s hunger need drops to zero, they will die of starvation. Pregnant Sims, vampires (Vampires), skeletons (Jungle Adventure), and Servos (Discover University) are immune to this death. Children and younger will be taken away instead. Pregnant Sims and ghosts will have their hunger replenished instead.
Fire If a Sim catches on fire, they have a limited amount of time to be extinguished before dying. Skeletons (Jungle Adventure) are immune to this death, but can still catch on fire.
Old Age Once a Sim reaches the end of the elder life stage, they will die of old age. Vampires (Vampires) and Servos (Discover University) do not have a limited lifespan, making them immune to this death.
Mood Deaths The Sims 4 is the first game in which certain moods can result in death. If a Sim is enraged, mortified, or hysterical for too long, death is a risk. Vampires are immune to each of these deaths.
Electrocution When a Sim tries to fix an electronic object with the Seriously Fried moodlet, they will get shocked to death.
Overexertion If an elder Sim tries to WooHoo or work out while dangerously tired, they will die. A Sim who contributes too much knowledge at the Research Archive Machine (Discover University) too many times can also die this way. Vampires are immune to this death.
Cowplant If a Cowplant is not fed for a period of time, it will pull out a slice of cake to lure Sims in. If a Sim tries to grab the cake, they will be eaten by the Cowplant and will be spat out, receiving a negative moodlet. If the Sim tries to grab the cake again with the moodlet, they will be devoured and die. Servos (Discover University) who will die this way will be culled from the game, and the Grim Reaper will not come for them.
Drowning If a Sim swims with low energy or jumps into a pond full of hungry fish (Get Famous), they will drown. This risk is also present when swimming in the ocean (Island Living). Vampires, skeletons (Jungle Adventure), Sims with the Child of the Ocean trait (Island Living) or the Master of the Sea reward (Island Living?), and mermaids (Again, Island Living) cannot die this way.

Game and Stuff Packs

Steam (Spa Day) If a Sim gets too hot in a sauna, they will die. Vampires are somehow immune to this death.
Sunlight (Vampires) All vampire Sims can be endangered when exposed to sunlight, which can kill them if they are outside too long during the day. This can be countered by the Sunlight Resistance Level 3 perk.
Poison (Jungle Adventure) If a Sim gets poisoned in Selvadorada, they will die if they do not find the antidote.
Rabid Rodent Fever (My First Pet Stuff) My First Pet Stuff is the first stuff pack in the franchise to add a new death. Sims with a low relationship with a pet rodent in a dirty cage can get bitten by them, causing them to get diseased. Similar to the previously mentioned death, they will die if not treated. Servos and Sims in the doctor career (Get to Work) with the sickness resistance reward trait are immune to this.
Rodent Deaths (My First Pet Stuff) Like a normal Sim, a rodent can die of starvation or old age in a similar manner.
Mother Plant Attack (StrangerVille) At the end of the StrangerVille story, biological Sims (This excludes Servos (Discover University)) who fail at fighting against the Mother Plant can be devoured and killed by her.
Magic Overload (Realm of Magic) If a Spellcaster overloads their magic charge, their magic will explode. The Magical Resonance perk will make them immune to this death.
Murphy Bed (Tiny Living Stuff) If the murphy bed fails to open, Sims can be crushed to death. The chance of dying increases if the bed is broken. The Reinforced Spring Wiring upgrade will prevent the bed from causing Sims to die. Servos (Discover University) are immune to this death.

Expansion Packs

Low-Quality Pufferfish (City Living) If a Sim eats a Pufferfish Nigiri, there’s a mood and quality determined chance for them to be poisoned and choke to death. Vampires and Servos (Discover University) are immune to this death due to the lack of a hunger need, and Mermaids (Island Living) are also immune to this death.
Pet Death by Old Age (Cats & Dogs) Like Sims, pets are able to die of old age when reaching the end of their elder life stage.
Temperature Deaths (Seasons) Seasons is the first Sims 4 expansion pack to add multiple deaths, and the first in the franchise to add four. Two of them are temperature deaths. If a Sim gets too hot or too cold, they can heat or freeze up and die. Vampires cannot die either way.
Lightning (Seasons) If a Sim gets struck by lightning too many times, they can die. The Storm Chaser reward trait grants immunity to this death.
Flower Arrangement (Seasons) If an elder is given a flower arrangement scented with a death flower, they will die. Vampires cannot die this way.
Catastrophic Meltdown (Discover University) Servos can die from having too low of a durability need and not getting tuned up after a while. This results in a meltdown where the Servo uncontrollably spins around and short circuits until it turns into a pile of scrap metal.
Beetles (Eco Lifestyle) If a Sim drinks beetle juice three times in succession, they will die. The Grim Reaper will not come for them. Servos (Discover University) cannot die this way, as they do not drink.
Flies (Eco Lifestyle) If a Sim interacts with objects swarmed by flies and disturbs them too much, the said flies can swarm and eat the said Sim.

Hidden Deaths

Turning into a Bone Pile (Jungle Adventure) This death is present only for skeleton NPCs, and they will be culled from the game.
Night Wraith (Realm of Magic) This death is present only for Sims with the Night Wraith trait (Spellcasters who have died of magic overcharge, NOT the Night Wraith NPC). This trait cannot be given to Sims through cheats or mods.
