Overview
The maps created by Whiteberry were extremely helpful for everyone who started playing The Long Dark. Many players relied on those beautifully created maps and we all fell in love with them, just as I did. We all became great fans of those maps and I always wondered how much effort was actually involved to create those. So I sent my long run stalker survivor (300+ days) out on a mission to map the latest region, Hushed River Valley. And boy I can tell you it really takes some time, quite some wolf struggles, blood loss, sprained wrists and ankles, hypothermia and frostbite to get it finished in an acceptable way. This is how it all started. By now I have added a few other maps for the regions Whiteberry never provided any maps. I now know how much work and effort it is to create them. So hats off to Whiteberry and her work.PLEASE NOTE: The orientation of the maps is based on in-game coordinates. North is not always up. The cardinal directions (compass rose) are defined by the sun in the corresponding region. This is my first guide on steam and the maps are clearly still a work in progress but I believe they are complete enough to share with the community. I also used Inkscape[inkscape.org] and tried to keep the layout and design as close as possible to Whiteberry’s maps. Have fun!You can reach me on twitter @Stray Wolf.Feel free to use the maps as you like. If you want to be decent, give credit. Just like Whiteberry, I won’t send wolves after you either way 😉
