Overview
Howdy there partner.This is the Vault-Tech approved handy dandy guide to help you complete all the Gun Runner’s Challenges, so you can get those fancy achievements that’ll make any girl wanna look at you and love you the same way the Fiends love those Chems.Most of these (if not all of them) are straight up killin’ monsters abominations or people (there is a ghoul or two in there aswell).You can always check the details on these challenges on your fancy post-apocalyptic Rolex…emh,I mean your Pip-Boy.Note that you only need to kill (final killing blow shot) the creature with a certain weapon,not fight him with the required weapon from the start.Right… Let’s get this show on the road now partner?
Up to the Challenge
Complete any three Gun Runners’ Arsenal (GRA) one star (*) Challenges.
The 1st set of challenges out of the 3.These set of challenges should be fairly easy(unless you are a ghoul n00b).There are a total of 6 challenges.Let’s take a closer look at them shall we partner?
- Benefit Or a Hazard
Kill Robots with 5.56mm Pistols.(15 of them AI tin cans)
-I have chosen three locations in which you can do this easiest,and they are: REPCONN headquarters, the Crashed Vertibird and Sunset Sasparilla Headquarters, - A Slave Obeys
Kill Mr. House with a 9 Iron or Nephi’s Golf Driver.
-Guess you’ll be wanting to play some golf eh partner?All jokes aside a pretty straight forward achievement.You can find the 9 Iron anywhere in the Wasteland or you can get the Nephi’s Golf Driver by going to Samson Rock Crushing Plant (southwest of New Vegas). - The Same Could Be Said of All Religious Weapons –
NON NOBIS DOMINE DEUS VULT INFIDELS……ehm got a little carried away there partner,please excuse me,ever since that trip to Jerusalem…Nevermind the 3rd challenge:
Kill Feral Ghouls with Maria, Gehenna, and Holy Frag Grenades.(15 of the dirty degenerates).
-This one is pretty easy, you get the Maria from killing Benny.The best locations to do this are: near REPCONN or South East on the map near Camp Searchlight. - You Don’t Belong In This World!
Kill Abominations with Katanas, Dynamite, Machetes, Throwing Spears, Throwing Knives, and Throwing Hatchets. (10 of the nasty bunch).
-The description says it all.There are several creatures that you can kill for this, Deathclaws, Night Stalkers, Spore Plants, Centaurs Fire Gecko’s,etc.Here is a full list ”borrowed” from the Wiki [link] (apparently Mr.House is an abomianation too,who would have thought eh?). - Ne Ne Ne Ne…
Cripple Right Arms with Shotguns. (5 of them will never ”play” with themselves again ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°))
Now watch me Whip now watch me use this dead meme and trying to be ”funny”
-As the previous challenge the description says it all.Simply target right arms when shooting with shotguns(much easier in V.A.T.S). I recommend fighting easier opponents such as Fiends,Powder Gangers,Vipers,Raiders hell even Ghouls.It can also be done on Mutants and animals. - Overkill
Kill Animals with any Fat Man or Fat Mines. (20 freshly skinned and radiated animals)
-Easiest one…if you have bunch caps layin’ around. Get yourself a big ol’ Fatman or Esther at Gun Runner’s and BOOOM…time to go hunting partner. I recommend visitining El Dorado Dry Lake – there are many Fire Ants to blow up to smithereens.
Combat Veteran
Complete any three Gun Runners’ Arsenal (GRA) two star (**) Challenges.
The second set of challenges partner,and they ain’t gettin’ easier.Let’s take a quick look.
- White Line Nightmare
Kill Fiends, Vipers, or Jackals with Tire Irons, Baseball Bats, Lead Pipes, Machetes, .44 Magnum Revolvers, or Sawed-Off Shotguns. (20 of the scum)
-The description says it all.The easiest way to do this is by getting yourself a nice .44 Magnum or a Sawed-off and emptying some lead on the scum of The Wastes.(The best location to complete this challenge is goin’ to Fiends territory,there are a bunch of them there and they are killed pretty easy) - Vault 13’s Revenge
Kill Super Mutants with 5.56mm Pistols, Plasma Defenders, Plasma Grenades, Power Fists, Rippers, or the Bozar. (15 Hulks must die)
-Once again,the description says it all.I reccomend goin’ to Jacobstown (make a seperate save if you want) or Black Mountain and shootin’ up the place. - Historical Propriety
Kill Caesar with a Knife or Combat Knife. (only 1 Caesar will do)
-This one is real hard partner.First you have to get your self to the top The Fort by killing all the legionnaires in your way,then you gotta fight his Praetorians,a couple of Legionnaires and Caesar himself. - Even a God-King Can Bleed
Cripple Caesar’s head with Throwing Spears. (only 1 Caesar head will do)
-Again, difficult, you ”only” need to cripple it but you still have a helluva of a fight waiting for you. Get yourself a nice amount of Throwing Spears, and practice that right hand of yours ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) – you can combine the previous challenge with this one if you want. - Dyin’ Ain’t Much of a Living
Kill members of NCR or Legion hit squads with weapons affected by the Cowboy perk.(5 of the pesky assassins).
-You need to really get on a faction nerves to the point that they begin to send hit squad after you,beacuse they love you so much.From my experience the NCR are easier to deal with. NOTE:Apparently you don’t need ”The Cowboy Perk”, just a selection of weapons,which are listen on the Wiki here: [link]-Sic Semper Tyrannis
Kill President Kimball with any One-Handed Pistol.(One President will be just enough)
-Pretty straight forward.Kill President Kimball with any One-Handed Pistol.You can only do this challenge while he is at Hoover Dam and giving his speech.Note that is not as simple as it sounds.The security protecting the President is quite large and there are even a few Veteran Rangers to make things more spicy for you partner.The faction you choose doesn’t matter. - Nyah! See?
Kill Chairmen, White Gloves, or Omertas with any submachine gun, light machine gun, or minigun. (10 of the Mobster a-holes)
-Visit your good ol’ pal Vendortron and get your self geared up ”No Russian’ style,and walk to any casino you want.Here are the locations of your targets:The Omertas run the Gomorrah, The Chairmen are at The Tops and the White Gloves run the Ultra-Luxe. - Talk About Owned
Kill Benny with his own gun, Maria. (1 checkered suit prick)
-This one is hard in way that you have to pickpocket Maria from Benny and for that you need a high sneak level or much luck on your side.Once you got the gun,it only remains for you to kill him and complete the challenge.
Pros Only
Complete any three Gun Runners’ Arsenal (GRA) three star (***) Challenges.
Here we are partner,the last and the hardest set of challenges.Let’s dig right into it the shall we?
- Deathclaw Pro Hunter
Kill adult Mojave Wasteland Deathclaws with .22 Pistols, Switchblades, Boxing Tape Recharger Rifles, or Dynamite. (5 of the killing machines)
-I recommend doing this challenge at the Thorn.After you complete the quests for Red Lucy you can fight in the Thorn’s arena and you have the option to fight a Deathclaw 1on1.Just do this 5 times and you are set partner. - Armed For Bear
Kill any named NCR Ranger or commissioned officer (Lieutenant, Captain, Major, Colonel, General) with Machetes, Rippers, Chainsaws, Throwing Spears, or Ballistic Fists.(15 of them).
-The description says it all (why am I even needed here?).You can find 3 officers at the Mojave Outpost,2 or 3 ranked officers at each Outpost (Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, Echo, Foxtrot). - Man-Machine Interface
Kill Mojave Wasteland Mr. Gutsys and Sentry Bots with Brass knuckles, Spiked Knuckles, Tire Irons, and Lead Pipes. (10 of the Skynet scum).
-You can find them in REPCONN Headquarters ,the Crashed Vertibird or even around Nellis. - Against All Tyrants
Kill any named Legion members with Hunting Revolvers, Ranger Sequoias, Brush Guns, Service Rifles, Hunting Rifles, or Cowboy Repeaters. (10 of the wannabe Romans).
-Pretty much the same concept as ”Armed For Bear”.Majority of them are at Cottonwood Cove,The Fort and Fort Nelson. - Crackerjack Timing
Kill Mojave Wasteland Cazadores with Tin Grenades, Long Fuse Dynamite, and Time Bombs. (10 of the flying deathmachines).
-I recommend NOT doing this challenge partner.It is just not worth the hassle. If you want to do this and impress your gal,I suggest you do it with sticks of Dynamite from large distances to get critical attacks.Remember you only need to kill them with Dynamites, so weaken them first partner.
Conclusion
These challenges are quite fun and I personally enjoyed completing them.It adds new weapons,weapon mods and these challenges that let you have some fun in the already dead Wastes.’Till next time partner and remember…War,War never changes.
