Overview

This is a full crafting guide. It explains the basics of crafting in Solasta, includes all the recipes with detailed descriptions and locations of special ingredients.

Crafting Basics

In Solasta, you can craft various items: weapons, armor, poisons, ammunition for bows and crossbows, potions, and scrolls. To successfully craft something, you will need to meet certain requirements.

• Learn a recipe by reading a proper crafting manual. Those can be found in containers around the world or bought from traders. Some recipes are also included in the character starting gear.
• Have a proper crafting kit in your inventory. There are 5 of those:
  1. Herbalism Kit allows crafting potions;
  2. Smith’s Tools allow crafting various arrows and bolts;
  3. Poisoner’s Kit allows crafting poisons and poisoned ammunition;
  4. Scrolls Kit allows crafting spell scrolls;
  5. Manacalon Rosary allows crafting weapons and armor.
• To be able to use a crafting kit, you will need a character with proper proficiency. Having one of the applicable proficiencies is enough to use the Kit and, even though the tooltip says otherwise, there seems to be no benefit to having more than one.
  1. Using Herbalism Kit requires proficiency in Herbalism Kit or Medicine or Arcana;
  2. Using Smith’s Tools requires proficiency in Smith’s Tools;
  3. Using Poisoner’s Kit requires proficiency in Poisoner’s Kit or Medicine or Nature;
  4. Using Scrolls Kit requires proficiency in Scroll Kit or Arcana;
  5. Using Manacalon Rosary requires proficiency in Manacalon Rosary or Arcana.
• Gather needed ingredients. Some of them are common and easily found/bought from traders, some are harder to find and unique.
• Crafting spell scrolls has one more requirement – a character that will be crafting the scroll also needs to know the respective spell. So, a character needs to have a proficiency in Scroll Kit or Arcana and needs to know Magic Missile spell to craft a Scroll of Magic Missile.

After you have all those elements in place, you can start crafting. Just go to the crafting menu, chose a character that can craft the thing you want, chose a recipe and click “Start crafting”. Crafting will take time (in-game hours, sometimes days) and will consume the ingredients but it can never actually fail, so you don’t have to worry about that.

The actual crafting in Solasta is done by a character making a series of skill checks of certain difficulty. The difficulty of a check is represented by Crafting Difficulty DC (13 on the example image below). The character can make a check (rolls a d20 die and adds his proficiency bonus) once an hour and either succeeds or fails. The character only makes a check if he is not otherwise busy (no cheesy checks while fighting, sleeping, scribing scrolls etc.). A certain amount of successes (8 on the example image below) is required to successfully craft the chosen item. So, characters with higher applicable proficiency bonus will generally craft faster (as they are more likely to have a success on each check) and characters with lower proficiency bonus will craft slower (as they will have more failures and will have to keep rolling for a longer time to accumulate needed number of successes).

Ingredients for Weapons and Armor

Primed weapons and Primed armors

• All are sold by Heddlon Surespell (Arcaneum trader) in Caer Cyflen. You will need higher relationship level with the Arcaneum to buy some of the recipes.
• As a random drop.

Blood of Solasta

• In a trapped chest at the Oracle.

Blood Ruby

• Sold by Halman Summer (Antiquarians trader).
• In a chest – reward for winning the 4th Arena battle in The Id.
• As random drop.

Cloud Diamond

• In the Hickory Corner Wood.

Crystal of Winter

• In the teleportation maze part (second floor) of the Dark Castle.
• As random drop

Diamond of Elai

• Given by Baron of Coparann as a reward for “Gem Quest: The Monastery” quest.

Doom Gem

• In Aksha’s Lair in the Dark Castle.
• As random drop.

Heartstone

• In the Dark Castle, bookshelf near Basement Entrance.

Life Stone

• In The Superego (accessed through the Lava Forest), in a “Very Tempting” Room.

Medusa Coral

• Dropped by Urka after a fight in the Sentharyllian Necropolis (Volcano).

Mithral Stone

• In The Ego (accessed from the Lava Forest), chest to the right.

Oil of Acuteness

• In the Tower in Caer Lem, after revolving bridge to the right.
• In the Solar Tower in the Dark Castle (you need to defeat Mardracht to gain access to it).
• In the Laboratory in the Fortress of the Shield.
• In your residence in Caer Cyflyn.
• Sold by Halman Summer (Antiquarians trader).
• As random loot

Purple Amber

• In a trapped chest in the Laboratory, Fortress of the Shield.

Shard of Fire

• On Remorhaz in Caer Elis during the “Temple of the Lost God” quest.

Shard of Ice

• Sold by Halman Summer (Antiquarians trader).

Slavestone

• At the Silent Whisper Outpost during “Bitterroot’s Treasure Map” quest.

Soul Gem

• At the Library in Manacalon Ruin, near the spider ambush spot.

Spider Queen Venom

• On the Spider Queen in the Cradle of File (Volcano).

Stardust

• Reward for the “Sorak Relic” sidequest.
• Given by Baron of Coparann as a reward for “Gem Quest: The Monastery” quest.
• As random loot.

Ingredients for Consumables

Ingredients for various consumables (potions, poisons, arrows and bolts, scrolls) are much easier to come by than those for weapons and armor. Most of them can be bought. Locations:

• Sold by Hugo Requer in Caer Cyflen.
• Sold by Gorim Ironsoot in Caer Cyflen (Projectile Parts).
• Found in various containers (e.g. chests).
• Found in resource nodes (e.g. bushes).
• Gathered during travel (plants only).
• Taken from the bodies of respective monsters.
• Found on various enemies.

Note: At the moment, Spider Queen Poison Gland does not seem to be in the game at all.

Weapon Recipes, Part 1

To craft weapons, you will need:

• a recipe (crafting manual),
• a Manacalon Rosary in your inventory,
• a character with proficiency in Manacalon Rosary or Arcana,
• required ingredients.

• All the recipes are sold by Circe Gerardoirin (a Principality of Masgarth trader) in Manacalon Ruin. You will need higher relationship level with the Principality to buy some of the recipes.
• Battleaxe of Acuteness, Short Sword of Acuteness – Manacalon Ruin, Library, topmost chest.
• Whiteburn, Shortbow of Accurary – Manacalon Ruin, Library, downmost chest.
• Frostburn Dagger, Frostburn Longsword – Dark Castle, Second Floor, on a bookshelf.
• Doomblade Greatsword, Doomblade Rapier – Dark Castle, Aksha’s Lair.
• Rapier of Acuteness, Longsword of Acuteness – Dark Castle, Solar Tower (defeat Mardracht to gain access).
• Doomblade Greatsword, Lightbringer Greatsword, Greatsword of Acuteness, Stormblade Greataxe, Greataxe of Sharpness – Tirmarian Ruin, crate behind the Cemetery.

Weapon Recipes, Part 2

Armor Recipes, Part 1

To craft armors, you will need:

• a recipe (crafting manual),
• a Manacalon Rosary in your inventory,
• a character with proficiency in Manacalon Rosary or Arcana,
• required ingredients.

• All the recipes are sold by Circe Gerardoirin (a Principality of Masgarth trader) in Manacalon Ruin. You will need higher relationship level with the Principality to buy some of the recipes.
• Leather Armor of Survival, Breastplate of Deflection – Dark Castle, Second Floor, on a bookshelf.
• Breastplate of Sturdiness, Half Plate of Sturdiness – Dark Castle, Solar Tower (defeat Mardracht to gain access).
• Plate Armor of Sturdiness, Chain Mail of Robustness, Scale Armor of Robustness, Empress Garb Chain Shirt, Scale Armor of Frost Walking, Leather Armor of Flame Dancing – Fortress of the Shield, Library

Armor Recipes, Part 2

Potion Recipes

To craft Potions, you will need to have:

• a recipe (crafting manual),
• a Herbalism Kit in your inventory,
• a character with proficiency in Herbalism Kit or Medicine or Arcana – one of those is enough,
• required ingredients.

• Found in the Scholar’s Pack (starting gear pack).
• Found at Aer-Elai.
• Sold by Maddy Greenisle (Tower of Knowledge trader) in Caer Cyflen.
• Sold by Hugo Requer (Magic and Curiosities trader) in Caer Cyflen.
• It does not seem possible to find any potion recipes as a random drop.

Poison Recipes

To craft Poisons, you will need to have:

• a recipe (crafting manual),
• a Poisoner’s Kit in your inventory,
• a character with proficiency in Poisoner’s Kit or Medicine or Nature,
• required ingredients.

• All the recipes are sold by Maddy Greenisle (Tower of Knowledge trader) in Caer Cyflen. You will need higher relationship level with the Tower to buy some of the recipes.
• Basic Poison Recipe is included in the Burglar’s Pack (gear starter pack).
• Ghoul’s Caress – Dark Castle, bookshelf on the ground floor
• Long Night – Fortress of the Shield, Library
• Random poison recipes (vials, arrows and blots) can be found:
  • Tower in Caer Lem, basket in the Ancient Library.
  • Manacalon Ruin, chest near the first blue current.
  • Tirmarian Ruin, chest on the rocks, sack near Cemetery and another near Mausoleum.
  • Coparann, chest in the Castle Basement.
  • Lava Forest, trunk behind a trap.
  • The Id, basket near a Zealot fight.
  • Cradle of fire, all three containers.
  • During Lawkeeper, Philosopher and Spy background quests.

Note: Ingredient required for Queen Spider’s Blood (Spider Queen Poison Gland) does not seem to be in the game at the moment, so it’s impossible to craft this one.

Arrow Recipes

To craft Special Arrows, you will need to have:

• a recipe (crafting manual),
• a Smith’s Tools in your inventory,
• a character with proficiency in Smith’s Tools,
• required ingredients.

To craft Poison Arrows, you will need to have:

• a recipe (crafting manual),
• a Poisoner’s Kit in your inventory,
• a character with proficiency in Poisoner’s Kit or Medicine or Nature,
• required ingredients.

• All the recipes are sold by Maddy Greenisle (Tower of Knowledge trader) in Caer Cyflen. You will need higher relationship level with the Tower to buy some of the recipes.
• Special arrow recipes cannot be found as a drop.
• Standard Arrow Recipe comes with Smith’s Tools proficiency.

To craft Poison Bolts, you will need to have:

• a recipe (crafting manual),
• a Poisoner’s Kit in your inventory,
• a character with proficiency in Poisoner’s Kit or Medicine or Nature,
• required ingredients.

• All the recipes are sold by Maddy Greenisle (Tower of Knowledge trader) in Caer Cyflen. You will need higher relationship level with the Tower to buy some of the recipes.
• Standard Bolt Recipe comes with Smith’s Tools proficiency.
• Special bolt recipes cannot be found as a drop.

To craft Scrolls, you will need to have:

• a recipe (crafting manual),
• a Scroll Kit in your inventory,
• a character with proficiency in Scroll Kit or Arcana that also KNOWS THE SPELL you want to craft the scroll for,
• required ingredients.

• All the recipes are sold by Maddy Greenisle (Tower of Knowledge trader) in Caer Cyflen. You will need higher relationship level with the Tower to buy some of the recipes.
• Scroll of Cure Wounds is included in the Priests’s Pack (gear starter pack).
• Scroll of Fog Cloud – Manacalon Ruin, Library, chest on the top.
• Scroll of Mage Armor – Manacalon Ruin, Library, chest on the bottom.
• Scroll of Magic Missile – included in the Scholar’s Pack (gear starter pack).
• Scroll of Blight – Dark Castle, Ground Floor.
• Scroll of Fireball – Tirmarian Ruins, sack near the waterfall.
• It seems that Scroll recipes do not drop as random loot.
