Initiation

After choosing between Single-Player & Multi-Player, when you spawn into the world, put away you’re starting materials into your inventory. This is so if you manage to die, you will not lose your supplies and more importantly, your land claim block. After you do that you should start looting everything in your area, you will need these materials later. Once you have filled your inventory with weapons, supplies, and other miscellaneous items, you will need to perform some inventory management, it doesn’t have to be exactly like mine, but you should have where you can efficiently pull out food or weapons without scrambling to find it. Once you are done you should have something like in the picture below.

Quick Tips Below!

> Remember, carry only what you need, if you have too many weapons in your pack, sort between the used and the pristine weapons. Then you can scrap the guns for scrap metal.

> Even If an Item looks truly worthless, take it and scrap it or just keep it for a recipe that needs it in the future.

Crafting

7 Days to die does have a complex crafting system that is relatively easy to figure out. When you are in the crafting interface, you should notice that not all of the items are colored the same, that is because they aren’t, go figure right? Check the points below to see what I’m talking about.

> Green – When an item is shaded green, it means that you already crafted the item before and you have the required items again to craft it. This also means you don’t have to drag all of the items onto the interface again, you can just click the item or you can shift click to select the maximum number of times you can craft this item.

> Grey (highlighted) – When the item is shaded grey, it means you have gathered the necessary materials to craft the item, but you haven’t done it before. This means you must drag the required items into the interface in order to craft it the first time.

> Grey (Dark) – When the item is shaded this kind of grey, this means that you are currently unable to craft this item because you have yet to gather the required materials.

Search Bar – As of Alpha 9, you are able to search for your requested recipe in the crafting menu. This can save a lot of time between searching through each category if you are not familiar with the crafting section.

Crafting Examples Below

> Stone Axe

> 9mm Pistol

Shelter

When you start to build your new shelter you must choose between building a shelter away from towns, farms, and other points of interest, and taking shelter in a pre-fabricated home. This decision will affect your entire life-span whether it’s for the better, or the worse.
Building your own shelter:

Pros:
> Living in an open area allows provides a healthy space for your shelter to grow.
> Less zombies may be in the area, as you are not near a point of interest.
> You control where the zombies can enter, its all in your design.

Cons:
> A wooden home will not hold well against hordes.
> Poor Structural Integrity may result in your home collapsing.
>Cost of Building increases dramatically.

Taking shelter in a pre-fabricated home:

Pros:
> Cost of building decreases dramatically.
> Stronger materials that last longer against zombie attacks.
> Attics serve as an excellent panic room.

Cons:
> More vulnerable to zombie attacks, as you are in a point of interest area.
> Some homes structures may collapse due to instability.
> Players will find you easier, as you are in a point of interest.

Notes:

> Building your home doesn’t mean that you must build above ground, many successful homes can be underground.
> If you wish to live aboveground, make sure you build more floors above your home, as if you are high enough, zombies will not notice you.
> Whenever you are building large structures, keep in mind that structural integrity will always be in effect.
> Make sure to check the durability of your block before using it as the main material for your home.

Multi-Player

If you are like me, you like to keep things interesting by playing on a public server. But there are some things you should be aware of before you randomly join a server. Servers are separated by their game types which will either be labeled as PVP or PVE. These two game modes are mainly what divide the servers up into two. Now depending on your style, you are going to want to choose either of the two game modes and I am going to help you choose which one based on your choices.

PVP:

PVP or Player versus Payer is a game mode in which every player are allowed to eliminate other players, loot bases and other players as well. The server owner may tweak the game’s settings to his/her likings making the game either harder or easier. New Players are urged to not play these types of servers until they have fully understood the elements of the game. You wouldn’t believe on how many servers that there are at least 3-4 people who have no idea what they are doing, who will basically spam the public feed to either team up with other players or they will beg relentlessly until someone regretfully helps them out. If you are new to the game, please do not do this and actually learn how to play either by doing research online (www.7daystodie.gamepedia.com) or learning by yourself.

PVE:

PVE or Player versus Environment is a game mode where player killing is not allowed, typically players are also not allowed to loot other player made bases or other player’s corpse sometimes. The server owner may tweak the game’s settings to his/her likings making the game either harder or easier. Newer players are urged to join these types of servers as other players are more friendly to other players, still I still urge you not to spam the public feed by asking to team up with other players or begging for supplies, this game is made for YOU to figure out the elements of the game or to build your shelter. Again here is the link to the wiki (www.7daystodie.gamepedia.com) so you can research how to play or otherwise, just figure out it on your own.

The Terrain

As requested, here is the map that shows loot spawns and the general area of the map.

Note – As of Alpha 9, The Fun Pimps introduced random world generation to the game and this means every world is unique, so I can’t upload any relevent maps for you, sorry.

Ammunition

There are a variety of ammuntion that can be found throughout 7 Days to Die. This sections will show each and every type of ammunition in the game.

Crossbow Bolt – The Crossbow Bolt has a maximum stack of 250 and is chambered by the Crossbow.

9mm Round – The 9mm Round has a maximum stack of 500 and is chambered by the Pistol.

10mm Bullet – The 10mm Round has a maximum stack of 500 and is chambered by the SMG.

.44 Magnum Round – The .44 Magnum Round has a maximum stack of 500 and is chambered by the .44 Magnum.

762mm Round – The 762mm Round has a maximum stack of 500 and is chamberd by both the Hunting Rifle and the Sniper Rifle.

M-136 Rocket – The M-136 Rocket has a maximum stack of 64 and is chambered by the M-136 Rocket Launcher.

Nightfall

By now, you should have gathered some adequate materials to survive your first night in 7 Days to Die. Whether you have fortified an existing structure, or you are out building a simple wooden shack. There are some things you are going to have to keep in mind when zombies before zombies start to rip you apart. First of all, when you are finished constructing your place, you must keep in mind that zombies are equipped with AI that allows them to find the weak link in your structure. Now that you know that, try to think on how they would attack your base. Next, there are a lot of types of defense mechanisms that you the player can use to your advantage.

Defense:

> Wooden Spikes – Wooden spikes are a cheap trap that can be used in early stages of the game. Be advised, this trap only has a durability of five, and will be decreased when zombies are killed by the trap. Required materials to craft this item costs nine sticks.

> Wood Log Spike – Wooden log spikes are a trap that can be used in the early stages of the game. This trap cannot be destroyed by use, although zombies will attack this object and destroy it, these are best used in a pit. This item can be upgraded with a repair tool or a stone axe for better durability. Required materials to craft this item costs four logs.

> Barbed Wire – Barbed wire is a trap that is best used when you have built a solid home. This item can be placed along your home or outer wall perimeter. Barbed wire will stop any zombies from crossing it and it will damage them. Required materials to craft this item costs three forged iron.

> Barbed Fence Wire – Barbed fence wire is a trap that is best used when you have built a solid home. This item can be placed along your home or outer wall perimeter. Barbed fence wire will stop any zombies from crossing it and it will damage them.

> Etc. – there are many other traps that will be at your disposal but these traps will be not be available in your period of the game.

Defensive Tactics:

Sound – You would not believe how load some players will be as the sun sets, zombies are attracted to noise and will be likely to come in flocks if you are creating noise. Refrain from placing new blocks, crafting, shooting, or much of anything unless you absolutely have too. Also try to stay crouching while you are cowering in your corner, it raises your chances of survival, and will also inform you whether zombies have noticed you yet or not.

Light – While this is a controversial subject, you can never be too careful. Try to refrain yourself from placing torches, lighting campfires, forges, etc. It may just save your life.
Height – Zombies will detect you if you are nearby, but you can limit this by either digging down or building up. Sitting down quietly at bedrock or building 4 stories up from the first floor will increase your chances of survival significantly.

Other:

Be Prepared – If you were in boy scouts, then you will know exactly what I am talking about. This is a motto that should be practiced in the real world. If you prepare yourself for the inevitable by stocking up on extra rations or ammo, then chances are you will live to see the next day.

Zombies

Chances are this game has zombies, but how many types of them are there? Well there are many types of zombies, but there are some you will need to watch out for, and how you should handle them.

Special Zombies:

> Bloated Walker – These zombies are more resistant to damage but they also deal more damage than others. They also have better loot than other zombies making them ideal to kill first.

> Spider Zombie – These zombies have the ability to climb walls, making them a serious threat to you, they also create a lot of noise to alert other zombies to close in on you.

> Zombie Dogs – These zombies are considerably dangerous because they are faster than zombies and they are not affected by sunlight. It is ideal to pick them off from a distance with a firearm to ensure your safety.

> Infected Police Officer – These zombies have increased health much like bloated walkers, but they also have a ranged attacked of vomiting streams of acid toward the player. This acid can destroy blocks and damage you. If you are able to dodge the acid, usually the zombie will sprint towards you In an attempt to kill you by exploding near you.

> Hornet – Hornets are a special zombie (bug) that have the ability to fly, this makes them a serious threat because they can fly right over your defenses, it is best to usually take them out first.

Useful Tips

When you are out there surviving in the apocalypse, it is best to take in all the information you can possibly get. You do not have to use these but I thought it would be useful to share these with the public.

> Watch yourself when opening objects with loot timers, ankle biters and other zombies will try to close in on you, potentially putting yourself at risk.

>When making a tree farm, place the saplings on wooden frames, then when the trees are finished growing, just pick up the frames and watch those trees fall.

>When you first join a game or server, make sure you place ur starting supplies into your inventory, before venturing as you will not lose them if you are killed. (Some servers have this changed where you drop everything on death, beware!)

>Bunkers serve as excellent long-term shelters as it takes zombies incredible amounts of time to reach you, also if you make ur bunker at bedrock, in most cases the zombies will not even notice you.

>Always go out to scavenge during the day no matter how many resources you have.

>Do not travel at night unless you are prepared to fend off some zombies along the way

>zombies speed is half your speed during the day, and double your speed at night.

>Even during the day, zombies may run after you if they are indoors or under a shaded area.

>It is good to inspect your house after an attack or even after you’ve logged off the server, as zombies will randomly attack structures.

>If it isn’t broken, repair it!

>Make sure you have a backup for everything, weapons, rations, even leaders if it comes down to it.

>Always shoot zombies in the head, not only does it gives you and instant kill the majority of the time, but it also conserves your ammunition.

>If you are playing on a server be prepared to make new friends, and enemies.

>If you are playing in a server make sure you know your keystone’s dimensions, this could lead to keeping your place safe or else may be the downfall of your fortress.

>If you are playing on a server, try to be on good terms with the majority of the server’s players, as friendship has its rewards when you need help.
