Athletics leveling a16.2 for 7 Days to Die

Athletics leveling a16.2

Overview

Detailed information about what gives you xp, and how much.

Intro

I wanted to know the fastest and/or the most efficient ways to level athletics. SO i had to get some information before i could figure out what that was.

Results

Ok, I don’t have enough time in my life to detail how I got these conclusions, but trust that care was used to be as accurate as I could.

What I can explain is this:

From my testing i’ve learned that you only get athletic XP for 3 things.

1) Actual distance traveled where your feet are touching the ground. Jumping, swimming, and stamina usage don’t count. Running gives the same xp as walking.
2) Punching something that loses health. Water doesn’t count.
3) Braking a block with your fist. Sadly 1HP glass blocks don’t give any bonus.

Summary:
Just walk, or run like normal. Avoid jumping. Then strafe when you are hitting on things to get that distance travel in. Then punch anything, it doesn’t matter what (as long as it abides to rule 3), when you really want to focus on leveling athletics.

If you want a somewhat closer look at how i came to these conclusions, then go to this folder[1drv.ms], download “Athletics” and view the readme. This is the athletics xp bar, with each action having a fresh character spawned each time at level 0. With each bar having a measuring bar added in. View the readme for more detail.

Update 1:

it seems punching the ragdolls you see after killing a zed is very profitable. Not so much on the gore block that comes after.

To put it into perspective. Punching just anything 5 times gives 6 pixels of XP. Breaking a reinforced concrete block gives 61, but you have to actually sit there forever to get to that point.

Punch a ragdoll 5 times, and it gives you a massive 18 pixels, and there is still plenty of body left to punch!

So ya, it’s f awesome.

Monitor is at 1080p by the way, but i used paint.net to zoom in and really look at those pixels.

I also did something similar with “Construction Tools” here: [link]

Update 2:

Thanks to Hal over here: [link]

I was able to stop guessing and get numerical data.

All the info I got by eyeballing the red xp bar was surprisingly accurate. Just keep your feet on the ground (going downhill worsens xp because of bouncing) and sprint with some beer. If you have ragdolls laying around, punch the lights out of them because wow…6 XP per swing vs the 2 you get for punching other things.

During a test it took 12 seconds of sprinting to get 40 XP, 14 seconds to get the same amount for normal punching, and 15 seconds to get half of that for walking.

Summary:

Sprint around on level surfaces for the most xp in the shortest amount of time, punch ragdolls for the second, or switch to fist when you get to the point of breaking a block (is slower though).

Strafe around while mining or chopping things if you want to multitask.
