Game Data Modding

Overview

This is about a mod tool that can edit the game mechanics. You can even make your own game expansions with it.

Introduction to Advanced Genie Editor

For some years I have continued developing a modding tool that can edit empires2_x1_p1.dat file. That and similar files from other games and expansions contain information that is used to initialize lots of game variables. My work has mainly been the graphical user interface of the mod tool. Many other people mentioned in the download link have been working on it too.

By editing those files you can change units, civilizations, graphics, researches, technologies, technology trees, terrains, terrain restrictions, sounds, player colors and some other things.
You can make your own expansions with it, like The Forgotten, Tales of Middle-Earth[aok.heavengames.com], Age of Chivalry: Hegemony[aok.heavengames.com], Portuguese Civ Mod[aok.heavengames.com], and all kinds of total conversion mods.

For now, I will just point you to Age of Kings Heaven forum[aok.heavengames.com] that has lots of articles on how to edit game data.
You can also watch my tutorial videos in https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLWyNykEg6S0MxsXghkyIBoOvyhvEQ1AxZ.

Here you can download this mod tool.[aok.heavengames.com]

It can edit game data of Age of Empires, Rise of Rome, Age of Kings, The Conquerors, Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds and Clone Campaigns.
