Overview
This guide is a source of not how to beat super hexagon, but how to get good enough to beat it.
Let’s begin, shall we?
super hexagon is a game that may seem daunting, infuriating, or impossible. while the former two are true, i guarantee the latter is false. Super Hexagon can be broken down into four parts:
reflexes
skill
memorization
luck
Reflexes
“I have bad reflexes. I was once run over by a car being pushed by two guys.” – Woody Allen
Super hexagon is a game about adjusting on the fly and being able to react at a moment’s notice. My reflexes have oft saved my skin while playing this game. you need to be able to make split second decisions in your head and send them through your nerves to your hand to your arrow keys/WASD/controller. the more you play, the better your reflexes will get, but take breaks between every 5-6 tries to let your brain relax and refocus. your times will thank you for it.
Skill
“Genius is 1 percent inspiration and 99 percent perspiration.” ― Thomas A. Edison
When it comes to super hexagon, like anything, practice makes perfect. every time you fail, you will be better equipped to face the challenge the next time around.
“I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.” ― Bruce Lee
Memorization
“Memorizing information is valuable but only if you’re able to make some sense of the information and put it into a useful context. Isn’t it much better if we can attach something tangible to that information?” ― Kenneth C. Davis
in super hexagon, after playing for a while you will begin to notice patterns in the incoming lines. memorizing these patterns so that you can navigate them is very important. each level of super hexagon throws in more and more patterns for you to memorize. if you have a bad short or long term memory, i’m sorry, but you will likely not be able to beat this game.
Luck
“Diligence is the mother of good luck.” – Benjamin Franklin
some of the patterns in super hexagon are near impossible to navigate at slow or high speeds. luckily, the order of the patterns are semi-randomized so with enough plays you will be able to hit them at just the right speed. sometimes when the number of sides change you will be in the wrong place and not be able to make it out. this is a classic case of “wrong place at the wrong time”. because of this, there is an element of luck (and perseverance) involved too.
Conclusion
Super Hexagon may seem like a hard and to some, impossible game. however it is very much possible if you use the steps outlined in this guide. I hope that this guide makes super hexagon a little easier for you. now get out there and play some super hexagon!
