NieR: Automata Achievement Guide!

Overview

This NieR: Automata achievement guide is here to help you with all the tips and strategies you need to earn 100% of the game’s achievements. Getting 100% in this game is nowhere as difficult as the Nier: Gestalt/Replicant one, but it still requires some time commitment. Also SPOILERS obviously in this guide so be careful as you proceed xDThis guide also contains information on how to get all weapons, materials, pods, chips, archives, unit data, fishing, guides for side quests, endings, and of course the most important information ever: YoRHa 2B’s Measurements! Also thanks Khilik for the help with the editing and adding additional information! Show him some love here! = http://steamcommunity.com/id/Khilik/ Furthermore if anyone needs the Achievement Guide translated in German here you go = http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=934210755

Introduction

Welcome to our humble NieR: Automata Achievement Guide! Here are some tips and information on best way to get all the achievements easily and estimate time of completion.

* Time to 100%: 30+ hours (on Easy and if you rush it by using achievement shop)
* 50 to 70+ hours to 100% if not using the shop & playing normal or higher difficulty
* 100% Achievement Difficulty: 5/10 (mostly skippable effort but needs 3 playthroughs)
* Playthroughs required: 3
* Missable Achievements: None

Most Efficient way to Get all achievements 100% =

First Playthrough: Do only necessary sidequests for item unlocks and things that are easy to find, until you unlock City Ruins: Cave and complete Alien Report. This opens up teleporting around the world, making side quests much easier. Most of your sidequests will vanish once you arrive at the Flooded City during Missile Supply Mission, so if you want to finish stuff do it before that.

Second Playthrough: Focus on obtaining weapons and quests available only to 9S, such as ones in Locked Chests and such

Third Playthrough: You’ll swap between 9S and A2 – giving you option to grind the Hacking and Berserker achievements. Pay attention to the Endings to get A2 and then 9S and see the “final” credits.

Cleanup: You will now have chapter select and can go everywhere and complete every sidequest you may have missed, or get additional endings, do fishing, etc.

Optional / Cheat / Shortcut: You can unlock an “achievement shop” that allows you to buy achievements with in-game currency. This is only available after completing your third playthrough. Here’s how to unlock the achievement shop =

Complete the amusement park ruins. Unmissable Story Achievement: MIA
[link]
MIA Walkthrough:

* After completing The Machine Surge, head back to the Resistance Camp and obtain your free room
* Leave the Resistance Camp to trigger a conversation and receive the quest.
* Once you have the quest, walk left of the camp until you come across the destroyed highway, and look to your right until you see a passage between the blocked buildings. Use the ladder in the middle to go down to an underground area. Follow the tunnels, and look for a ladder, but don’t go up yet. Continue forward to another ladder.
* Go up this ladder and into a large tree to obtain the weapon Virtuous Dignity.
* Now return down to the tunnels and take the ladder you avoided before. You will be in a large area with trees. Pick up the Shattered Earring and continue towards the nearby machines. The location Amusement Park will be revealed.
* Enemies here are mostly harmless, so you can ignore them and head up the stairs then take a right into a gate, and a left up a narrow back alley to reach an Access Point. Save then continue towards the mission objective by jumping on the broken thrill ride to get over the fence.
* Fight the Goliath Tank (Amusement Park)or be nice and ignore it. As long as you dont tank balloons with your face the tank doesnt actively attack you. It just drives around and sprays colourful things.
* Go up the stairs and get on the Roller Coaster. Follow it until you drop down to a boss fight with Beauvoir.
* After the boss fight, exit to the start of the park and a peaceful machine will ask you to come to its village. Accept to gain access to the Machine Village. This opens the quest Machine Recon.

Second MIA quest (9S)

* Equip the A170: Scanner program on your Pod.
* Travel to the Flooded City and press L1. Your scaner will beep more frequently as you get close to a secret. It will reveal items and YoRHa units
* Go towards the red zone on the map to find 9S, but first your scanner will note a YoRHa by the side of a bridge. Next to it, a treasure weapon hides: Iron Will.
* Continue forward until you make it to the last platform. Here a YoRHa model will tell you they saw 9S get blown away and give you map coordinates direction you back to City Ruins. Head towards the City Ruins: Cave access point and the quest will go to 9S MIA again.

Creation and Insurrection

* Jackass is waiting here, with a brand new access point. The ability to teleport unlocks, allowing you to fast travel between places faster.

The Mechanical Kingdom

Complete the forest castle. Unmissable Story Achievement: The Forest Kingdom
[link]
The Forest Kingdom Walkthrough:

* Head to the Forest Zone by porting to City Ruins: Near the Tower. Once there head to the left to a door and trigger a short dialogue. Defeat the machines you are attacked by, then pursue the fleeing machine and destroy it to trigger an event that unlocks further progress.
* Continue to the Forest Zone and through it, past the waterfall and bridges to access the castle.
* Once in the Castle, push onwards past many machine defenders until you arrive at the Royal Chamber access point.
* Fight with YoRHa A2 until it flees, then pursue her down the entrance of the castle.
* An event with Command and Pascal will follow, unlocking the next quest: Report on A2

Ruler of the Deep

Complete the flooded city. Unmissable Story Achievement: Missile Supply Mission
[link]
Missile Supply Mission Walkthrough:

* Speak with Anemone during Resupply to obtain this quest.

* To access the Flooded City, you must head to the City Ruins and investigate a large broken pipe located above the Cave area that appears after the Assault event. Nagivate the pipes until you come out on the coastal side of the city.

It is very easy to fall to your death, so be mindful of edges and jumps, and attack enemies with ranged attacks wherever possible. You will have to make large jumps to avoid the water. Remember Jump > Evade / Dash > Jump covers the most ground.

You will face a larger group of enemies including a Reverse-jointed Goliath. When they are defeated, Command will give you more instructions. Near this platform, behind a building, you can find a locked door and an Apologetic Machine.

Board the flying units and fight through a shooting section until you arrive at the ship. A large enemy unit will challenge you, it is not too difficult if you remember to use R2 to dash away from its powerful beam. After this, an even larger unit will emerge from the sea bed and destroy the ship – you must now fight it. Scroll your way through many enemy waves, dodging deadly lasers, until you reach the EMP at the back. Destroy the five weakpoints of the EMP and Command will execute a laser attack from above. It is insufficient, but reinforcements lead by 4B arrive and allow you to disengage and head back to shore. 9S proposes that you use close rage mortars to attack.

Mount the Rail Cannon Unit and fire into the machine’s mouth to weaken it. The machine will emit a powerful EMP that almost wipes you out, but Pascal will show up just in time to rescue you and fill you in the details: the enormous machine was constructed centuries ago to detroy Androids, but went berserk and machines have lost control over it. You must continue to fight it while 9S pursues a plan. Survive and defeat all the weak spots and a cutscene will trigger unlocking the trophy Ruler of the Deep.

You will recover awareness and contact command, Operator 60 informs you it has been 8 hours and data uploading is down, and 9S is missing. This begins the main quest: 9S MIA.

Those Who Love Humans

Complete the copied city. Unmissable Story Achievement: 9S Captured
[link]
9S Captured Walkthrough:

* You will arrive at the Copied City during 9S MIA. Comfront Adam (Boss) and your quest will update to reveal 9S has been captured.
* Fight the boss, and he will eventually reveal a crucified 9S to taunt you – he seeks for you to experience rage and hatred.
* Defeat Adam completely to finish the quest. Go to your Inbox to unclock the next quest: Olive Branch.

Iron Soul

Complete the abandoned factory. Unmissable Story Achievement: Twisted Religion
[link]
Twisted Religion Walkthrough:

* You should kill the large hostile group of Small Biped attacking you, then flee through the elevator that opens. Up the lift, a Biped controlled by 9S helps you escape
* Run through some long bridges and onto conveyor belts, avoiding enemies and defeating what you can without getting smashed by the giant presses. You’ll emerge to a room with two Multi-leg Medium Model enemies. After defeating them, go out the door and follow the broken stairs up via double-jumps, then get onto the conveyor belt and avoid the axe-wielding Small Sphere enemies.
* You will come to a room with a group of Scared Believer machines. Activate the lift by them and go into it. In the next room, an electromagnetic level 30 Goliath Biped awaits. Defeat to unlock a new Access Point – Factory: Hangar.
* Go back down the lift and to the room with the group, then take the other door. You’ll get a small sidescrolls section going up. Watch out for the Small Exploder enemies that spawn here and on the following conveyor belt.
* After the belt, some innocent machines are being attacked. Each one you save will give you 1x Small Recovery and 1,000 G
* Continue on past some multi-leg medium models that are crawling on walls and into a room where you can unlock the Access Point – Factory: Furnace. Take the lift next to it after saving.
* From here, the next area contains a boss encounter: Multi-legged Goliath Level 30. It’s a pretty challenging boss due to the darkness of the room and the speed of its attacks. Head toward the lift after defeating it and follow the familiar route out of the factory as the religious machines suicide.
* Once outside, you will see Eve is becoming corrupted and angry over the death of his brother Adam.
* This begins the quest Weird Machines

One Battle Ends

Achieve ending A. Unmissable Story Achievement: Threat Disposal
[link]
Threat Disposal Walkthrough:

* After you defeat the multi-legged goliath for Weird Machines quest, Eve will emerge from within and transform the machine into yet again another enemy.
* Together with 9S, defeat this new enemy by using range attacks and dodging its deadly lasers.
* Once it’s defeated, pick up a Machine Core and receive the next request from Pascal, whose village is under attack. Make sure to save, then head towards the Machine Village
* The passage to the Machine Village is blocked by several enemies. Destroy them and collect another Machine Core. Then go to the center of the City Ruins.
* Once you reach here, the corruption of Eve is complete and he attacks you as a boss. He has several lives, so make us of your Support Items and Enhancement Items as needed.
* This will lead you to one of the Endings ,

Destruction is My Job

80% of all unit data unlocked. Find most Enemies and NPC data. Here are lists on where to find them = http://nierautomata.wiki.fextralife.com/World+Information

Each enemy type may have several variances so follow the list closely.

Chip Collector

80% of all plug-in chips collected.

Plug-in Chips are Skills you can customize in Nier: Automata.

By using a Plug-in Chip, you can freely customize abilities to change your play style the way you like it, such as emphasizing more on attack power or defense, and so on.

These Chips can be purchased, but they’re also acquired from enemy drops.
Each Chip is set with a capacity, but you’re able to equip several Plug-in Chips as long as there’s enough space within a character’s storage. You can view your Storage Used in the top right of the Skills Menu screen.

Chips bought from NPCs will have max capacity cost; enemies have a chance to drop Chips with the lowest capacity cost (these will be marked with ♦).

Fusing Chips will scale to the highest capacity cost of the two + 1 (unless fusing two ♦, which will scale to the lowest capacity cost available for that level).

There are Chips that display HP meters, damage numbers, and other types of HUD info Chips. So for example, you could customize your characters by having less information available via Chips and focus more on customizations that allow you to attack better.

Combination effects are capped at 100%, except for Item Drop which is capped at 90%.

You begin that game with a certain amount of storage. To increase your capacity, you can do so at the Bunker. Take the elevator to the terminal to find a merchant.

When you die you lose all the chips you had installed. In order to recover them you must make your way back to your prior body. Failing to do so results in losing the chips.

Plug-in Chips can be upgraded to a max of +6 normally and up to +8 at Canyon Machine, after completing her quest.

The following are the chips in the game:

1. System Chips = http://nierautomata.wiki.fextralife.com/System+Chips
2. Attack Chips = http://nierautomata.wiki.fextralife.com/Attack+Chips
3. Defence Chips = http://nierautomata.wiki.fextralife.com/Defense+Chips
4. Support Chips = http://nierautomata.wiki.fextralife.com/Support+Chips
5. Hacking Chips = http://nierautomata.wiki.fextralife.com/Hacking+Chips

1 hour played with 9S in a certain state. During your third playthrough, wait around before going to fix 9S at the Resistance Camp during the quest Recover NFCS. Self destruct also seems to work aswell for this achievement.

Come Take a Look!

[link]
Emil’s shop used for the first time. After completing the Forest Zone, check for Emil’s mask on the map, he’s usually near the Desert: Camp area. You should shoot at him once to make him stop running around, then talk to him to access his shop.

Have Fun Catching him tho xD silly Emil.

Naughty Children

Emil destroyed. You will need to finish Emil’s Memories sidequest, and be warned it’s a very high-level battle. Here’s a full description of how to access it and how to defeat Emil =

Speak to Pascal at his village and Emil will start appearing on the map. He can be found in the northeast corner of the City Ruins, driving around in a van. Shoot him with your POD to make him stop and speak to him for a hint about his home. Head back to the commercial district where you access the Forest Zone and interact with the Lunar Tear flower. Emil will appear and ask you to look for other Lunar Tears and the Side Quest Emil’s Memories will begin.

During your second playthrough as 9S, after unlocking the Forest Zone, you can go to the City Ruins and go into one of the pipes just above the City Ruins: Cave location. Open this door using the Elevator Key you had obtained via the quest Emil’s Memories. Inside, you will be at “City Ruins: Deep Cave”. Please note that the door leading to Emil’s Residence will be locked if you go there on a second playthrough, and requires you to talk to Emil at the desert entrance again for it to be unlocked.

Explore the deep cape, unlock some unit data for Enhanced Machines (lvl 50) and items such as Silver Ore and Meteorite, a Locked Chest, Titanium Alloy, Memory Alloy. and Pyrite.

Eventually you will arrive at a gate and to Emil’s Residence. Go inside and pick up Emil’s Mask. Return to the surface, find Emil and talk to him again. He will comment and say someone stole from him and now he has put everything in a secured chest.
[link]
Go back down the elevator in the pipe to the Deep Cave, and unlock the special Locked Chest that now appears in Emil’s Residence. You will obtain Emil’s Head.

When you exit the room, Emil faces you as a Level 99 Boss. The best way to defeat him is to have Auto-Heal and Anti Chain Damage Chips on, and 2B on aggressive. Focus on dodging the projectiles and press and hold triangle to hack Emil.

You will need about 5 successful hacks to end the fight, which gives you the weapon: Emil Heads as a reward alongside 2,000G.
