Overview
These 14 builds are explained simply and each has a unique fighting strategy included.
Introduction
This guide has 14 full builds for Honor mode, and I plan to add more images soon.
The strategy this is based on is the front-to-back strategy which means you attack the closest enemies first while splitting up your team into a frontline and backline.
With this strategy, the side that deals the most damage will come out ahead, and we will ensure that is our side.
- Frontline characters are in front, closest to the enemies. While, backline characters are in the back, far from the enemies
- Try to have at least 1 backline character in your team
- Midline means they can switch between the backline and midline at anytime
- Cook meals and take five-star talent to heal a lot
- Use first aid and armor of frost to heal knocked down, atrophied, stunned, frozen, or petrified
- Turn on battle formations to avoid clumping up
- The AI runs towards you in combat, so most of the time you can just wait for them to come to you
- This guide includes no source skills for more fun
How to Play the Most Powerful Roles
The most powerful roles are the marksmen and ranged mages since they can go exclusively for damage and succeed against the AI enemies. Melee roles need to devote stats and/or skills towards surviving because they have to get closer to the enemies.
It’s simple to play the ranged roles.
First, assess if your survival is at risk. Second, attack whoever is in range and is the biggest threat.
Prepare before they fight by getting the glass cannon talent, executioner talent, and maximize your damage stats. For marksman, it is a mix of warfare/huntsman and finesse. For mages it is their specialty: fire/water/earth/air and also intelligence.
The biggest threat to you is being surrounded by enemies. If this happens, go invisible or jump away to reposition so enemies do not surround you. It might be necessary to retreat to one side of an arena, and have your teammates teleport the enemies away from that side of the arena. Usually you can just run from the fight and re-join it where you are not surrounded.
I have listed all 14 builds below.
Frontline – Vanguard
Your role is to stay in the front, engage well, and CC enemies.
Make sure your allies stay behind you. Stay no deeper into the enemy territory than their closest enemy, since our strategy is to fight front-to-back.
Play as Beast as a fighter to get the 10% health boost and some starting skills.
Get the minimum points for skills and place the extra points in warfare. Get constitution the highest, with memory 4 points lower, and minimum strength and intelligence for armor
5-star dinner, living armor, torturer, mnemonic. Swap living armor for picture of health once you get a few warfare points

Frontline – Diver
Since our strategy is to fight from front-to-back, your role is to dive into the enemy territory for the sole purpose of slowing their advancement of some of the enemy.
You do this by using jump or fast movement to dive in, then use skills like teleport and oil to slow them down to prevent too many from approaching your team. You can even have enemies chase you away from the main fight. You must retreat before you get overwhelmed.
Play as Beast as an inquisitor to get the 10% health boost and some starting skills.
Use points to unlock skills, otherwise put points into polymorph. Get constitution the highest with memory 6 points lower than constitution. Get a balance of physical and magical armor with minimal intelligence and strength points.
5-star dinner, torturer, picture of health, living armor, and mnemonic
Teleport, Spread your wings, Fossil strike, Impalement, Worm tremor, Summon elemental totem, Summon incarnate (early game only), Tactical retreat, Uncanny evasion, Haste (pre-fight buff self), Adrenaline, Chicken claw, Armor of frost, Fortify, Ram, Provoke, Chameleon cloak

Frontline – Juggernaut
Your role is to stay in the front of your team with your summons and wait for the enemies to come to you.
When they arrive, maximize your damage on the most dangerous enemies that come near.
Apply damage to those that approach, but don’t overextend and put yourself in danger. If you can spare the action points, you can attempt to slow down enemies from arriving with oil.
Don’t be too concerned about incarnate dying once you’ve unlocked bone widow. You can summon a bone widow while waiting for the summon incarnate cooldown to come back up.
Play as Beast as a conjurer to get the 10% health boost and some starting skills.
First, get the minimum points for skills, but respec to get summoning to 10 as soon as possible because that gives incarnate a massive boost in stats. Get the minimum points for skills and place the extra points in warfare/polymorph. Get constitution the highest, with memory 4 points lower, and minimum strength and intelligence for armor
5-star dinner, torturer, living armor, mnemonic. Swap living armor for picture of health once you get a few warfare points. Get living armor as the fifth talent.

You will be using glass cannon since you’re safer in the backline.
Play as Lohse as a cleric to get encourage and the starting skills.
Minimum for skills then hydrosophist. Get memory, and keep constitution 6 levels lower than memory.
Glass cannon, torturer, pet pal, five-star dinner, and living armor (Beware the quest in act 2 that makes you lose your pet pal talent).

Your role is to stay safe in the back and attack the most dangerous enemy in range with a bow.
Your highest priority is survival, so take precaution against potential threats. This may mean fleeing early rather than taking another shot.
Get to high ground for a 30%+ damage boost. Use blood sacrifice then arrowheads on the blood for damage boost of about 40%.
Play a custom elf to have the skill blood sacrifice. Starting skills should be Arrowheads, Haste, and Chameleon cloak.
Get warfare to the maximum value and mix in some huntsman. Get finesse the highest and get a few points into memory when it’s worth it.
Glass cannon, executioner, picture of health, far out man, five-star dinner
Arrowheads, Haste (pre-fight buff self), Chameleon cloak, Sky shot (Join combat using this), Barrage, Adrenaline, Ricochet, Fortify, Favorable wind (pre-fight buff self), First aid, Pin down, Tactical retreat, Armor of frost, Summon elemental totem, Summon incarnate (early game only), Teleport, Uncanny evasion, Chloroform, Smoke cover, Vampiric hunger

Backline – Fire Artillery Mage
Your role is to stay safe in the back and attack the most threatening enemy within range with fire skills.
Jump to high ground for a 30%+ damage boost. Retreat often if there is a risk of an enemy attacking you.
Play as Sebille as a wizard to have the skill blood sacrifice and some starting skills.
You’ll want to get the maximum points in pyrokinetic while also using a few points to unlock skills. Use the remaining points to unlock skills or upgrade polymorph. Get intelligence the highest and mix in some memory points.
Glass cannon, torturer, executioner, elemental affinity, five-star dinner, and far out man

Backline – Water Artillery Mage
Your role is to stay in the back and attack the most threatening enemy with water skills. These skills will freeze your opponents with no magic armor and are chilled or wet.
Additionally, use your healing skills to heal allies.
Jump to high ground for a 30%+ damage boost. Retreat often if there is a risk of an enemy attacking you.
Play as Sebille as an enchanter to have the skill blood sacrifice and some starting skills.
You’ll want to get the maximum points in hydrosophist while also using a few points to unlock skills. Use the remaining points to unlock skills or upgrade polymorph. Get intelligence the highest and mix in some memory.

Midline – Warden
Your role is to flexibly help the team where you can.
If you need to reinforce the front line of allies, then move to the front and support them. If they have died, stay in the front to act as a substitute tank.
If your back line is at risk of being flanked, then go back and stay with them to protect them.
If your allies are able to stay alive to large spikes in damage, they can easily heal themselves on their turn with consumables.
Leadership is a powerful passive skill, but to use it you must be within 5 meters of the allies you want to protect that gives them essentially 33% more health. Try to convince your allies to not run far from you so you can protect them.
Also, try to convince them to get dodge and magic resist when possible since there is a compounding exponential effect as it gets closer to 100% (at 100% you’re immune to all damage).
Play as Lohse as a conjurer to get encourage, the starting skills, and a point in leadership and conjurer.
Get summoning to 1, earth to 2, and water to 1. Once you’ve unlocked about half the skills, really try to go for 10 leadership really quick.
After getting leadership to the maximum value, I suggest you then get the minimum for skills, and lastly put points into polymorph. Get enough memory for all skills you can unlock, then get constitution. In the late game, have memory 2 points higher than constitution.
5-star dinner, pet pal, torturer (when you get 2 earth), living armor, mnemonic (Beware the quest in act 2 that makes you lose your pet pal talent)
Fortify, Worm tremor, Adrenaline, Armor of frost, Mend metal, Teleport, First aid, Haste, Summon incarnate (remove if unlocked bone widow), Uncanny evasion, Soul mate, Summon elemental totem, Favorable wind, Soothing cold, Impalement, Restoration, Tactical retreat (or any jump), Chicken claw, Ram, Stomp, Chloroform, Fossil strike, Chameleon cloak, Heart of steel, Cleanse wound, Rain

Midline – Catcher
Your role is to be an aggressive support that is flexible to the situation.
As the fight starts, you’ll likely want to either lock down enemy reinforcements or teleport an enemy into your team so your team can quickly take them out.
In backline duty, wait for the enemies that run at your team, lock them down as they approach to ensure their demise.
While you are not very tanky, you can swap to the front line to be a buffer from the enemies. If it gets too dangerous, it’s best if you head back to the backline.
Play as Lohse as a conjurer to get encourage and the starting skills.
Minimum for skills then polymorph. Get memory, and keep constitution 4 levels lower than memory.
Pet pal, torturer, 5-star dinner, mnemonic, living armor (Beware the quest in act 2 that makes you lose your pet pal talent)
Teleport, Adrenaline, Heart of steel, Worm tremor, Summon incarnate (remove if unlocked bone widow), Haste (pre-fight buff self), Summon elemental totem, Fortify, Impalement, Fossil strike, Armor of frost, Chicken claw, First aid, Ram (or stomp), Rain, Turn oil, Uncanny evasion, Chloroform, Tactical retreat (or any jump), Chameleon cloak, Enrage, Favorable wind, Cleanse wounds, Soothing cold, Mend metal

Midline – Melee
Your role is to deal damage, but it’s an odd role because you’re too squishy to engage the enemies most of the time. Use a 2-handed weapon. It takes guts to play this role.
You must get the sense for when it’s time to go all-in on an enemy with all-out damage.
You will be staying in the front line and prepare to attack the enemies as they run towards you.
You will be faced with a decision to retreat/hunker down, stay where you are, or dive:
- Retreat/hunker down: If this gets too dangerous, use your skills for survival or retreat to the backline.
- Dive: If you sense an opportunity, dive forward against a target like a mage and go all-out to maximize damage against them
- Stay where you are: Otherwise, you can just stay where you are in the front
Play a custom elf to have the skill blood sacrifice. Starting skills should be Tentacle lash, Stomp, and Ram. Knight is the best class if recruiting others.
Start with one polymorph and one warfare. Get one point in summoning next.
Eventually get 1 scoundrel. If you find equipment with +1 water, huntsman, fire, or earth you can pick up skills like armor of frost, vampiric hunger, first aid, haste, and fortify if you think they will be more useful than 2-2.5% more damage (strength vs memory). If you find +1 air equipment then get +1 more for teleport and uncanny evasion.
Then look to maximize warfare first, then 2-handed weapons. Maximize strength. Get some memory, and very rarely get constitution. There aren’t that many damage skills for a warrior, so very little memory is needed.
Try out summon bone widow, it should be worth the 2 points in necromancy.
Opportunist, 5-star dinner, picture of health, executioner, and living armor
Tentacle lash, Stomp, Ram, Summon elemental totem, Summon incarnate (early game only), Bull horns, Whirlwind, Chicken claw, Teleport, Uncanny evasion, Adrenaline, Chloroform, Chameleon cloak, Enrage, Armor of frost, Vampiric hunger, First aid, Haste (pre-fight buff self), Fortify, Crippling blow, Blitz attack
Challenge (Level 16), Guardian angel (Level 16), Tentacle lash, Stomp, Ram, Summon elemental totem, Raise bone widow, Bull horns, Whirlwind, Chicken claw, Phoenix dive, Teleport, Uncanny evasion, Nether swap, Adrenaline, Chloroform, Bone cage, Chameleon cloak, Haste (pre-fight buff self), Enrage, Armor of frost, Vampiric hunger, First aid, Equalize (Level 16), Fortify, Crippling blow, Blitz attack, Medusa head
Midline – Necromancer
Your role is to deal damage, but it’s an odd role because you’re too squishy to engage enemies most of the time. It takes guts to play this role. Your equipment is a sword/dagger with a shield.
- Dive: If you sense an opportunity, dive forward against a target like a mage and go all-out to maximize damage against them. Typically you’ll corrupt them, then heal them to cause damage.
- Stay where you are: Otherwise, you can just stay where you are in the front
This role relies a lot on specific conditions, more than any role. Those conditions are corpses or low enemy physical armor.
With corpses, use teleportation, corpse explosion, raise bloated corpse, and/or supercharger.
With low physical armor enemies, use a skill to cause decay then harm them by healing them with soul mate, cooked meals, or other healing skills. Also, for enemies with no physical armor, use a skill to cause disease so enemies do 35% less damage, or shackles of pain to deal more damage.
Play a custom elf to have the skill blood sacrifice. Starting skills should be Mosquito swarm, Raise bloated corpse, and Stomp
Maximize warfare and intelligence. Get the minimum points for some skills if they are worth it. Get intelligence to a high value. Get some memory, and very rarely get constitution.
Elemental affinity, 5-star dinner, picture of health, the pawn, and mnemonic
Corpse explosion, Stomp, Cloak and dagger, Decaying touch, Infect, Ram, Mosquito swarm, First aid, Teleport, Raise bloated corpse, Dimensional bolt, Elemental totem, Adrenaline, Restoration, Armor of frost, Chloroform, Uncanny evasion, Haste (pre-fight buff self), Supercharger, Soul mate, Shackles of pain, Blood sucker, Chameleon cloak, Vampiric hunger, Fortify
Challenge (Level 16), Corpse explosion, Raise bone widow, Phoenix dive, Decaying touch, Infect, Stomp, Mosquito swarm, Cloak and dagger, Ram, Raise bloated corpse, Dimensional bolt, Teleport, First aid, Corrupted blade, Restoration, Elemental totem, Healing ritual, Adrenaline, Nether swap, Bone cage, Armor of frost, Chloroform, Haste (pre-fight buff self), Uncanny evasion, Supercharger, Medusa head, Soul mate, Shackles of pain, Blood sucker, Chameleon cloak, Vampiric hunger, Fortify
Midline – Earth Battle Mage
Your role is to stay in the front and attack as a battlemage with earth skills (to use the deflective combos).
Stick to the front line and maximize your damage, and chance to slow down enemies with oil.
Zone the backline enemies to prevent them from approaching.
One trick you can do is hit yourself with a projectile skill like fossil strike or poison dart while you have deflective barrier up to hit enemies twice at close range. With poison wave used first you become earth immune, so you won’t be hurt by targetting yourself, but will still deflect your attack.
Play as Sebille as a wizard to have the skill blood sacrifice and some starting skills.
You’ll want to get the maximum points in geomancer while also using a few points to unlock skills. Use the remaining points to unlock skills or upgrade polymorph. Get intelligence 2 higher than constitution and memory 6 points lower than intelligence.
5-star dinner, elemental affinity, the pawn, mnemonic, living armor (consider swapping in torturer if using worm tremor)
Fossil strike, Fortify, Haste (pre-fight buff self), Throw dust, Poison dart, Mend metal, Impalement, Adrenaline, Heart of steel, Contamination, Corrosive touch, Rain, Armor of frost, Turn to oil, Tactical retreat (or another jump skill), Oily carapace, Chameleon cloak, Summon elemental totem, Summon incarnate (early game only), Uncanny evasion, Worm tremor
Fossil strike, Deflective barrier, Haste (pre-fight buff self), Throw dust, Poison wave, Fortify, Poison dart, Adrenaline, Mend metal, Earthquake, Impalement, Heart of steel, Armor of frost, Contamination, Corrosive touch, Rain, Tactical retreat (or another jump skill), Turn to oil, Oily carapace, Chameleon cloak, Summon bone widow, Bone cage, Uncanny evasion, Summon elemental totem, Worm tremor
Midline – Air Battle Mage
Your role is to stay in the front of your team and attack with air skills as a battlemage with air skills (3 are short range). Most air skills will stun your opponents if they have no magic armor and are shocked or wet.
Typically, stay in the front-line and maximize your damage, attacking the close by priority targets.
You can also swap into the backline and attack from afar, especially from high ground for a damage and range boost.
You can even look to dive if you see an opportunity that looks safe enough.
Zone the enemies to keep them from approaching your team, even teleporting them away at times.
Play as Sebille as a battlemage to have the skill blood sacrifice and some starting skills.
You’ll want to get the maximum points in aerotheurge while also using a few points to unlock skills. Use the remaining points to unlock skills or upgrade polymorph. Get intelligence 2 higher than constitution and memory 6 points lower than intelligence.
The pawn, five-star dinner, living armor, mnenomic, savage sortilege
Teleportation, Haste (pre-fight buff self), Dazing bolt, Electronic discharge, Rain, Blinding radiance, Shocking touch, Adrenaline, Vacuum touch, Summon elemental totem, Summon incarnate (early game only), Uncanny evasion, Tactical retreat (or other jump skill), Chameleon cloak, Armor of frost, Favorable wind, Raining blood (doesn’t cause wet), Fortify
Superconductor (Level 16), Teleportation, Haste (pre-fight buff self), Nether swap, Pressure spike, Rain, Dazing bolt, Electronic discharge, Adrenaline, Blinding radiance, Shocking touch, Uncanny evasion, Vacuum touch, Summon elemental totem, Summon bone window, Tactical retreat (or other jump skill), Chameleon cloak, Summon elemental totem, Armor of frost, Favorable wind, Raining blood (doesn’t cause wet), Fortify,
Midline – Assassin
Your role is to use dual daggers and wait for an opportunity. You are far too squishy to get into the fight.
The opportunity you’re looking for is to attack an enemy who looks weak. Then you can kill them with a +2 AP boost from executioner, or apply CC. You should essentially always retreat after attacking before your turn ends (sometimes uncanny evasion is enough).
It’s not optimal but you can attack frontline enemies, wait for squishy enemies to approach.
You have very high damage but are very squishy.
Play a custom elf to have the skill blood sacrifice. Starting skills should be Backlash, Stomp, and Ram. I suggest getting adrenaline by eating a consumable found on the starting ship.
Maximize warfare and scoundrel at the same time. Maximize finesse and mix in some memory.
Scoundrel gives you the speed you require. While scoundrel and warfare give you damage, warfare gives more damage on non-backstabs and might give more damage on backstabs as well. Feel free to experiment with 80%/100%/50% scoundrel with the rest in warfare, I am yet to test this.
Glass cannon, executioner, picture of health, 5-star dinner, mnemonic, and living armor
While we are not aiming to build tanky, the picture of health talent is a huge health boost depending on your warfare level. Also, if you retreat with low health, the 5-star dinner talent should help you to recover so you can get back into the fight quicker.
Backlash, Rupture tendons, Stomp, Adrenaline, Chicken claw, Chameleon cloak, Ram, Summon elemental totem, Summon incarnate (early game only), Throwing knife, Cloak and dagger, Tactical retreat, Haste (pre-fight buff self), Mosquito swarm, Chloroform, Uncanny evasion, Teleport, Smoke cover
