Overview
The guide provides a scalable and flexible 9×9 layout that helps expanding population. Happiness of residents could be maximize in most area and defensive weapons system would not occupy the space for infrastructure.
Water Supply Unit
Place Moat first then build Noria on it. Treasure House and Chamber Of War need to be built first to allow access to Moat. In creative mode, water in Moat may not be fresh water, so some of these Noria could not be placed.
Taverns and libraries could be placed between Norias when necessary.
Food Supply Unit
Type 3
Swineherds and butchers are built 1 tile from the road to avoid disturbing residents.
Small stockpiles provide tools for butchers.
This type produce additional pork.
Type 4
This type produce wheat mainly.
Type 5
Bathhouse replaces a 3×3 farm.
Charcoal Supply Unit With Bath House
Build Lord Levi Statue to summon trees inside the block, then place Forester around those trees.
Charcoal Makers are placed at least one block away from road so their smoke would not disturb residents nearby.
Housing Unit
Type 1
This block consist of 12 Manors, central garden, fountains.
Corners of this block are reserved for other infrastructures.
One of the corners must be reserved for a combination of Reservoir, Clinic, Fire Brigade and Library, so there could be water supply and emergency services for residents.
Type 2
To make room for church, 1 Manor has to be removed, or remove part of the central road and keep that Manor.
Type 3
To provide better protection for residents, place Lord Barbara Statue and Hospital at the corner.
Treasury Unit
This would provide considerable space for Gold, while keeping them away from Vikings.
Citadel Unit
This unit has its own water supply and emergency service while protecting 2 treasuries and keep with wall and armed forces. The treasury next to the wall could be replaced by stairs to give access to archers. Defensive weapons could be placed on top of the wall.
Cemetery Unit
When Cemeteries in Water Supply Unit got full, try this one.
Combining Various Units
Place Water, Food and Charcoal Supply Blocks around Housing Units to Minimize Distance Of Cargo Transport, which means less chance of food or charcoal shortage.
Defence System
Place Gates on the road and build Castle Block above them to support defensive weapons, saving space for your infrastructure.
Outcome
Population of over 18,000 could be reach on a map filled with Very Fertile Soil and without Dragon or Viking.
These block layouts may not be the best choice for a random map.
To maximize food production, place farm on the best soil(which is usually scattered on the shore).
Over 8,000 population could be reached on a large land, Vintar(hard) mode.
