A Beginners Guide To Understanding Bombergrounds

Overview

This guide does an overview of everything in the game as an overall beginners guide to playing Bombergrounds: Battle Royale

Introduction

For starters Bombergrounds is a fast-paced battle royal game with matches that usually last around 2 minutes each. When you are loading into your first game you will see that on the loading screen it shows the following:
Movement keys as usual are WASD although it also shows that the “bomb” key is J and the “hit/stun” key is K. Now that can be really annoying when trying to play so i advise that you bind the Bomb key to Mouse1 (right button) and the hit/stun to Mouse0 (left button). This will make it easier in general and decrease your reaction time as you are more used to using the mouse to do actions rather than abnormal keys.

Map

When you spawn into the game you will be in a random location on the map. The first thing you will need to know is that breaking crates is your best chance at survival against your 24 foes. To break a crate you simply drop a bomb next to it and wait for the boom. Out of a crate there are 3 different things that can drop:

  • 1-4 stars
  • Speed boost
  • Shield
  • Mega bomb

These will all aid you in your effort to being the last player standing (more information on those latter). Next thing you will need to understand is the map itself. In the map there are different structures in it to make the game-play more interesting. The map includes the following structures:

  • Crates
  • Trees
  • Rocks
  • Water holes

Trees are simply a barrier that can be destroyed using a bomb, rocks are an indestructible structure and are useful for hiding behind in mid-late game, lastly are the water holes; these are the more complicated structure in the game as there is multiple purposes. To start, no you cant walk into them, they act as a barrier like the trees and rocks. What makes these more special is the fact that if a bomb is hit into it gently the bomb will go into the water and it wont cause an explosion, but if the bomb is hit with enough force you are able to make it “skip” over the water and onto the other side.

The map starts shrinking after 45 seconds, the border of the map falls off and if on the edge you will die.

Knowing Your Weapons

In your basic arsenal you have your trusty melee weapon to stun enemies and your bombs to well blow up your enemies and the map. You can charge up your “swing” on your melee weapon to release a smashing swing and if you hit an enemy they will fly off the map and die; as well with your melee weapon you can hit bombs that allows you to protect yourself from enemy bombs or to attack enemies from a distance. Bombs blow up in a + fashion. You can gather stars from the crates to “level” up your player making your bombs explode in a larger radius.

To further your arsenal you can get Mega Bombs, Speed Boosts and Shields from crates.
Mega Bombs are level based, the more you pick up the bigger the explosion (maxed at 3)
Speed Boosts temporarily give you a speed boost, that increase the more you pick up (maxed at 3)
Shields will protect you from an explosion for the given amount of time.

Playing Basics

Now knowing your equipment and the map, the next is play-style basics. As previously mentioned you usually want to go for the crates first to get stars and other tools to help you in your fight. The best way to break open crates without being bothered too much is at the edges of the maps, they have a lot of crates and little to no people to bother you giving you time to build up your character with stars.

After breaking open some crates and you are ready to fight, I recommend playing from a distance before trying to play up close. Slowly make your way into the middle of the map by simply placing bombs and then hitting them around around you and taking cover to avoid hitting yourself with your own bomb (embarrassing).

Once you have survived to the endgame of your match you will want to stay around the edges and next to rocks to avoid the condensed explosions from all the bombs. You will want to pay attention to what your enemies are doing in attempt to predict what they are going to do to avoid getting hit by there bombs.

Friends

In game you are able to make friends and add them to your in-game friend list which you can then play with them using the Invite Friends button on the Battle page. This can be lots of fun, although at the moment there is no way to talk to them as there is no Mic accessibility yet with your party so i would advise using a different method if you would like to be able to play co-op with them properly.

Level System and Chests

The levelling system in this game is based off of Winning 1st, in game time and getting kills. 1 second in game gives you 5xp and a kill will give you 75xp. The amount of xp earned for getting a win is influenced on multiple things.
When you level up you will get 100 coins that you can then use on buying a Basic Chest for 150 coins. The chests give you different cosmetics to use in game (does not affect game-play). As well there is the Artist Chest and the Premium Chest each costing 25 Diamonds (premium currency).

Final Notes

This Guide was made without the use of using information from other guides or anything. If there is anything you believe i should add in that i either forget or missed please leave a comment i will be sure to look into it.
