Overview
A guide to the travelling merchants and other NPC’s that move throughout the 8Squared simulation. How to spot them, what they sell and a guide to the Epic costumes available through the ‘Clothier’s Goods Bag’
Introduction
8Squared’s unique travelling vendors were a feature added to Otherland in the 5.6.49 Patch. There are also hidden schematic vendors that were introduced during the same patch. I have a guide for these here!
If you’ve ever decided to explore 8Squared you may have stumbled across a random vendor in the middle of nowhere or seen a group of NPC’s with their huts or carts phase into an area out of the corner of your eye.
This guide serves as an introduction to the travelling vendors and NPC’s of 8Squared (at least the ones I’ve discovered so far!), how to spot them and what they sell!
One very unique item these vendors sell is the Clothier Goods Bag. This is an epic quality container that has a costume/disguise item in it. There are 4 sets of costumes to collect which I will cover later in this guide 🙂
Travelling Non-Vendor NPC’s
There are several Non-Vendor travelling NPC’s that change location in 8Squared.
Here is a very brief introduction to the NPC’s you may run into traveling around the simulation and how to spot them!
The red army is easily spotted by looking out for their red tents. These travelling NPC’s are hostile. Typically a tent and 6 or 7 Red Army NPC’s spawn at a time. While the tent is around these NPC’s re spawn in the area when killed.
If a White Army camp spawns nearby these NPC’s will fight each other.
White army tents are also super noticeable when they spawn. Unlike the red army, the white army NPC’s are friendly to the player character. Several spawn around the camp and roam the area, battling any red army NPC’s they come across.
Hostile Villager NPC’s travel with a round white tent. Most of these NPC’s use range weapons and will attack the player character if you get too close.
A few lumberjacks also travel 8Squared. These are a little harder to spot than NPC’s with tents, but there’s usually 2 – 3 lumberjack NPC’s that travel with a pile of chopped wood and a tree stump with an axe in it. These are friendly and will not attack the player.
A group of bandits spawn around a campfire and roam the area. These are hostile.
There are 3 Non-Vendor farmer NPC’s that travel with the cart screenshotted below!
Travelling Vendor NPC’s
Travelling vendors have a variety of buildings/stalls they travel with. They’re slightly easier to spot than the non-vendor NPC’s due to the map showing vendor icons.
- All vendors sell every type of recovery capsule
- All vendors sell the Clothier Goods Bag (Epic container)
- There are 4 different vendors that each carry a particular assortment of superior weapon schematics. I’ll list these later in the guide!
The easiest way to spot travelling vendors is to keep an eye on your map for any randomly appearing vendor symbols. Vendor NPC’s have a variety of buildings, below are the ones I’ve seen so far.
A small shack with grain bags infront of it.
A cart with kegs on it.
A stripey gazebo style stand with grain and barrels.
A small stall with piles of grain.
A larger stall selling grain.
Below are the inventories for each of the travelling vendors I have run across. There may be more vendors I’ve not yet found that sell different schematics.

Vendor Variation 2
Vendor Variation 3
Vendor Variation 4
It is possible this is an incomplete list and there are other travelling NPC’s that stock other variations of superior weapon schematics too!
In the next part of this guide I’ll be discussing the Clothier Goods Bag and the sets of costumes you can find within them!
Clothier Goods Bag
The Clothier Goods bag is an Epic quality container that can be bought from any travelling vendor for 6000 bits. They contain costume pieces that fit the 8Squared theme by being styled after the NPC’s clothing. Costume pieces are level 1 items designed to be worn over the top of your armor in the Disguise tab. Each container rewards a random piece from one of the 4 sets listed below.

Additional Tips
- When travelling in 8Squared looking for these vendors, check your map often! The vendor icon has quite a high range from you so it’s sometimes easier to see them pop up!
- The easiest way to find travelling vendors is to find a wide open space and wait around for them. The location you see in my screenshots is near the ‘Drake’s Manor’ portal and I found the wheat fields surrounding this area a great place to wait for NPC’s!
- If you’re collecting the Clothier’s costume pieces it’s always worth checking the Auction house for the pieces you’re missing! Consider putting your duplicate pieces up for sale there too so people can get the whole collection easier without wasting a lot of gold gambling on them!
