Overview
New to the Game and Want to be a Gangster? Trying to Expand your territory and Salary as a Gang Member? Look no further than this comprehensive guide for The Gang System!
Introduction
In this Guide i will try to cover the gang system for new players, how to take over Rival Gang Turf, including different loadouts I have found can work, and defending from an enemy attack.
Keep in mind the second half of the guide is largely my opinion on tactics, so if you find a loadout or tactic that works better for you, feel free to leave it as a comment so others can benefit.
The Gang System Basics
For Newcomers to the game (including myself) the gang system can be slightly hard to fully understand, especially as all the tutorial you are given on the matter is a 10 second tooltip in the corner upon becoming a gang member.
Firstly, Joining and identifying Gangs. Gangs can be joined by speaking to 1 of the 3 gang leaders around the Map. Each Gang has a Uniform that every NPC who is part of that gang will wear (Including Gang Leaders), with headgear unique to only those gang members. The Borgata Blu Leader is by the Bank and can be identified by a black fedora and suit. The Rojo Loco Leader is on a sidepath near the coffee shop and can be identified by a BACKWARDS Red Cap (i.e Front facing Red Caps Are NOT part of the Red Gang). Green St Fam are at the Corner of the Map next to the Delivery Job (Pizza icon) and can be Identified by a Dark Green Face Scarf.
Now, onto Gang Mechanics. Once you are in a gang, you will see your map become color coded into 12 areas. Now normally there will be a cube of 4 Blue and a cube of 4 green, with a line of red along the side, but if another player has attacked and overtaken a gangs turf, this may differ. You receive 10 salary for each tile your gang controls each minute, so a base salary for all gangs is 40 money per minute. This increases or decreases if tiles are gained or lost. If you are part of a gang, Rival NPC Gang members will randomly attack you in the street, so be careful where you afk. An annoying feature is that until the gang member does damage, you will not be able to attack back without gaining a crime for assault, so your options are either kill them and evade police, take damage and then legally kill them, or just run.
Now for Turf War Basics. To Start a war for a gang tile, you must kill 2 enemy gang members within their own tile in a short space of time. Doing so will broadcast to everyone on the server that your gang is now attacking the enemy gang tile, and to look on the map for details. The Contested tile on the map will begin phasing between the colors of the gangs fighting the turf war, and you will receive a broadcast saying “Defenders Lives: 9, Attacker Lives: 2, Time Left: 120”. The Starting Life Counters seem to differ slightly for each tile, but it’s normally close to those values. What this means is that you must kill 9 members of the opposing gang within the territory in the time Limit or before they kill 2 members of your gang (NPCs from your gang wont normally interfere so its basicly just players from your gang to worry about). If you were worried about getting 9 gang members into 1 tile, dont be. As soon as the timer starts, Rival gang NPCs will start Teleporting into the area and rushing towards you giving you far more than enough opportunities to get the required kills in the time limit.
Turf War Tips
Firstly, before starting a turf war, examine your area, specifically for Certain NPCs.Remember that as soon as you kill the first Rival gang Member, Police and Special Forces will be moving in on your location. So if there’s a police NPC right in the middle of your killing ground, either wait for them to get a reasonable distance away, or include them on the initial killing spree that initiates the turf war. the other NPC you obviously want to look for is closeby Rival Gang members. Again, once you start the war you’re going to face more and more of a resistance as time goes on. So every second wasted waiting for the next kill to spawn is a second the police are moving in. Therefore it’s useful to be able to fire a shot at a nearby rival to drag them into the fight and bring you 1 kill closer to victory. (It doesnt matter if the enemy gang member is spawned by the war or just passing by, if they die on the conflicted tile, it counts as a kill).
Second, a good tactic can be to punch a few gang members as you get to the location to have them follow you onto the tile. Assuming they all use melee weapons, you can then just pull out a gun and massacre all of them, boosting your kills immediately. However, you need to be careful of police who will also be following you due to the wanted level. Like I said, police are going to be the biggest annoyance you face, as most of the gang NPCs only use melee weapons and have to rely on surrounding and outnumbering you. So bringing a few cops along with you isn’t a good idea. The trick is to find a balance between giving a boost from extra potential quick kills, but not trekking half the map so every police in a 3 block area follows you too.If you can, use the fact that NPCs randomly attack you to your advantage, just wait for one to latch on and you have a legal follower to your destination.
Third, don’t be afraid to use human shields. If you’re taking fire from police and being followed by a mob of gangsters, kill 2 birds with 1 stone and stand so the gangsters are in the line of fire. This will likely make the gangsters attack the police, making the police stop shooting you and focus on the immediate threat. This will leave one of them weakened and the other dead, a huge help for you either way. Remember, all gang deaths on the tile are counted as kills, YOU do not need to be the one who kills them (I’ve even gained a tile while dead before, with the last kill being Red TeamKilling each other after trying to hit me while clumped together) having the Police and Rival Gang Fight each other makes your job far easier.
Finally, the gang you join will give you different benefits. Red Gangs tiles are not particulary well defended, but they all have Machetes, which is a powerful Melee weapon capable of a 2 hit kill on head blows. Blue Gang on the other hand, have knives, not nearly as good as the Machete (All head blows takes 3 hits for a kill, while body hits are pretty useless), but their default territory takes over the Bank and 2 apartements, with their Gang Leader pretty protected in the middle of the city. Green is sortof a Mid Point. The Baseball bat is a decent weapon, and their gang leader is sortof protected, but still near the edge of the map, meaning police cant come from all directions.
The First 3 Tiles
Heres where my opinion factors heavily, This part is assuming You play as Borgata Blu, which I believe is the best gang due to the good default territory (thus making rival gang turf weaker than yours), as well as having the gang leader in the middle of the city instead of he outskirts. The Downside to Blu Gang is that you will be facing decent melee weapons in a Turf War, so its important not to get hit, especially by the 2-shot Machete.
Now, the First 3 Tiles I believe are easiest to capture are as follows:
Tile 1
Tile 1 is very easy to take due to multiple conditions, and is a good start point for a first capture.
First, It encloses the Gang Leader. The reason this is a good thing is that the gang leader is a respawning source of kills that remains passive and stationary until provoked, even during a turf war 5 ft from him. This means if you have a 1 shot weapon like a shotgun, you can easily line up a headshot on the stationary NPC and farm a free kill every 20 secs when he respawns. He is also good for initiating the war, as you only need 1 NPC to enter the area to have both 2 kills needed.
Second, the position of the tile means Police will mainly attack from the single open face, as 1 is the river and the other 2 sides are buildings. This makes it easy to defend as you only really have 1 source of resistance. (Note I say “mainly”. Police and Gangsters ARE able to walk around a side alley to attack from the river side, so be careful)
Tile 2
Tile 2 is Connected to Tile 1, so gains the same benefits, but with slightly more tactics needed.
First, the Gang leader can be used as a respawning kill in this tile, but you need to provoke him, and then have him walk into the neighbouring tile before killing him. The Death must occur on the Turf War Tile to count.
Second, the area is even more enclosed than Tile 1, however be wary of police shooting from across the river, as on most of the tile you are within range. Either duck into a doorway to force them to relocate or just move forward to get out of range.
Again, be aware that there is a pathway for NPCs to walk around the building, and come out at the riverside.
Tile 3
Tile 3 is a green tile, and is more open. however, this can work in your favour, allowing you to see more targets at once.
It again encompases the Gang Leader, with the Previous Benefits discussed.
Its more open, but still has the sea on one side, safeguarding you there. The Houses behind the gang leader can form a useful alcove to defend from, especially with the fence blocking some bullets when crouched. It’s slightly more open but with good use of tactics and human sheilds, it’s fairly easy to take.
Defending a Tile
Sometimes another player may be on and decide he wants to take on your tile. You have a fair amount of time to get to your apartement to gear up so here’s a few tips:
1. The player will be focusing on killing people in Military gear, Rival Gang Outfits and Police uniform. If you make sure not to wear anyof those and act like a normal civillian NPC, you should be able to get the jump on them, and give yourself an advantage in killing them.
2. Long Range One Shot Weapons are the best to Defend. If you can get your hands on an RPG the battle will be over in seconds. Even A Rifle to take them out from afar will give you almost a guaranteed win.
3. If Neither of these tips are helpful in your situation, even just distract them and run. Remember there is a time limit, and every second you waste their time is a second they aren’t focused on the main objective. Keep in mind that if you die in the Tile, it counts as a kill and helps them though, so make sure to stay out of the warzone if possible.
4. You may also be able to charge in safely with your Gang NPCs if the player isn’t well armed. It may be that they can just about handle a few mindlessly following NPCs, but not if theres a concious player on top of that.
Loadouts
This section is all about Loadouts I have found Useful for trying to Take a tile over. I’m not gonna put Armour into any of these, If you can afford to lose some, Armour is always a good Idea. Armour also implies you’re getting hit alot, which is largely random luck of NPCs accuracy as well as some player dodging skill. If you want an easy way to farm Combat Gear for a load of armour, use my guide on stealth raiding the military base, and hold the Soldier hostage for as long as you need to get a respawning supply of armour. Also, the tile you’re taking over may vary the effectivenes of these loadouts, so keep that in mind.
Items Needed:
– Glock Pistol
– A Metric Tonne of Ammo (I go with 200 to be safe, you can maybe use slightly less)
This Loadout is very simple yet very effective. It uses the concept of just unloading a full magazine into any enemy in your way. The way to use this is instead of going for precise Headshots and conserving ammo, aim for the body and just keep firing till its dead. since you’re going for body shots, its near impossible to miss, so use cover effectively and dont be afraid to unload your gun on any threat. The Large supply of ammo means any immediate threat can be knocked down quickly. This works best if you have a piece of cover to camp around, as you can pop out, unload the clip, and jump back in to reload.
Items Needed:
– RPG
– Shotgun
– Glock or Colt Pistol
– Ammo, I go 20 Shotgun, 50 Pistol, you can vary this (Rockets is between 1-10 depending on what you can spare)
This is a more expensive Loadout that tries to cover all ranges. If the enemy is close range, use the shotgun. If the enemy is Medium range, use the Pistol. The RPG is to take out any clusters of enemies, as without complete disregard for an Ammo Counter, enemies may start to build up. Be very careful with the RPG, quite a few times I’ve misjudged where the safe range for a rocket is.
Items Needed:
– MP5SD
– Glock
– Ammo (Bring a fair amount)
This is a more traditional loadout. It may not be as effective as the other 2, but its maybe more attainable since an insane amount of ammo or hard to get High Explosives aren’t needed. Simply use cover and use the MP5 to gun down most targets, with the pistol as a Backup.
Items Needed:
– A Tank.
I’m not sure what it is about it, but something about rolling a tank into enemy turf and blowing up all threats is fairly effective. In all seriousness though, there are a few things to be wary of if you try this one. First, the tank has a blind spot if someone gets to close (i.e trying to melee the tank) you might be able to hit their head, but with the explosion going off at point blank range, you’ll damage the tank and possibly yourself in the process. Secondly, Tank shots arc. You need to compensate if you’re firing at anything other than point blank. Finally, be careful of the tank Health. You’re strong, but not invincible. If you have 4 MP5s hitting you at once, the tanks health will still drain pretty quick.
Thank You for Reading!
Thanks for Reading, Hopefully this guide gives you a better understanding of the Gang System as well as useful tips and tactics to Take over Tiles with Ease.
If you have any Loadouts that you’ve found effective, leave a comment with details and I’ll add them here.
Fun Fact: I was AFKing while making this Guide, I made 14K on the 70 money a minute salary (The first 3 Tiles Taken for Blue) Had i been on 40 Salary, I wouldve only made 8K
