Troubleshooting – Failed to Join Match

There are two different versions of the DLC installed on people’s computers and there can be issues getting them to work together. The first type of DLC is installed through Steam and appears if you purchased the DLC (do not purchase the DLC, it will create more trouble than it is worth). The second type of DLC is obtained through this guide. The two DLC’s have different folder structures which will impede people’s ability to join servers when different folder structures are in play. If you see the message “Failed to connect to the server because the host is using Downloadable Content that you do not have”, follow this guiide to fix it!

First, it is important to understand the cause of the problem and the different folder structures. For users following this guide, you should have the following folder structure “C:SteamsteamappscommonSection 8 Prejudices9gameCookedPCFinalDLCDLC2”
Inside the folder, there should be a “Content” folder containing the core DLC files.

For users who purchased the DLC from Steam, there will be the following folder structure
There are no GFWL “content.bat” files and also no “Content” folder. The core DLC files are directly in the DLC folder.

After hours of troubleshooting, the simple fix is just to place the core DLC files within the “Content” folder. It is that simple!

Additional Considerations

If you purchased the DLC from Steam, it is highly suggested that you delete the DLC obtained from Steam and follow this guide to install the DLC. Players with DLC installed using this method are able to join games hosted by other players with the modded DLC AND players with Steam DLC. Players with Steam DLC are only able to join players with Steam DLC. This means that if you have the Steam DLC installed, you will not be able to join matches hosted by players that obtained the DLC using this method while this DLC method allows you to join any hosted match.

Follow the steps to convert Steam DLC into all-access DLC:
1. Change the names of the “DLC2” and “DLC3” folder. You can rename it into “DLC2_temp” and “DLC3_temp” or anything that is different from the original. This is to prevent Steam from deleting the DLC files in Step 2.
2. Go to your Steam library and click on the Section 8 Prejudice game. Under installed DLC, uncheck the “Frontiers Colonies” and “Overdrive” map packs. This will delete the DLC files if you have not renamed the folder in Step 1.
3. Rename the folders back to their original names, “DLC2” and “DLC3”.
4. Inside the “DLC2” folder, create a new folder and name it “Content”.
5. Select all the files in “DLC2” and drag it into “Content”. The folder structure should now match “DLC>DLC2>Content”
6. Repeat Steps 4-5 for DLC3.
7. Success! You have successfully converted Steam DLC into all-access DLC.
