Overview
This guide will help you get skills early, save on valuable skill points and avoid wasting points on skills you don’t want.
Introduction
In this guide, I will show you how to use my Advanced Rectification Technique to gain skills while keeping point usage to a minimum. This technique will utilize something that I will call ‘anchor skills’.
I will be using Slyvando’s skill tree for an example in this guide. As you can see in the picture below, I have opoened a few skills in the sword skill branch.
Step 1: Opening the Anchor Skill
Currently, my cursor is over the whip skill called Starstrike. This will be my anchor skill. An anchor skill needs to be a skill that is in a different skill branch than the one that you will be rectifying BUT also next to said skill branch that you intend to clear.
The key to using this technique is the fact that skills in one branch can be unlocked when an adjacent skill in a different branch is active. That means that you don’t have to start with the tiles next to the center of the chart (such as Hypnowhip, in this case).
Let’s make the Starstrike skill active. Now, everything is set up for the technique.
Step 2: Rectify the Target Skill Branch
We will be using the technique to get the Metal Slash skill in Sylv’s sword branch without using as many skill points as normal. Since the whip skill Starstrike is now active, we will rectify the sword skills. After doing so, Sylv’s skill tree should look like the pic below.
Step 3: Extending from the Anchor Skill
This is the main step in the technique. Take note that the sword skill that is located above Starstrike is available for opening, just the same as the Flame Slash skill. This is because the ajacent whip skill Starstrike is active. Starstrike didn’t get wiped during rectification because it is in a different skill branch than the one that was cleared.
Now, use skill points to work your way up to the Metal Slash skill, as seen in the pic below.
Step 4 (optional): Clearing the Anchor Skill
It is totally up to you if you want to clear the anchor skill to save on skill points or keep it.
Other Examples
Here are a couple more examples of where I used the technique to get skills. Under normal conditions, Sylvando wouldn’t have been able to get the Have a Ball skill at level 27, but it is possible with this technique.
Wrap Up
This technique has many uses. It is handy for learning skills much earlier than usual, saving points while getting the skills you actually want, and avoiding skills you don’t have immediate interest in. I hope that you all will find this guide helpful in your skill farming efforts. Enjoy.
