Overview
How to build: Bungalow rooftops, a circle tower, different kinds of a dormer, conical rooftops and many more advanced stuff you can build in “The Forest”.
Important !
You having cool ideas (missing in my guide) how to make beautiful cabins, houses, castles or whatever? Please contact me. You will get credits mentioned in the guide.
You dont like my english skills?
Just “translate”/complete passages. I will correct the current ones (credits to you, too)
As the name says it: “advanced” – So it might be helpful to have at least a bit knowledge about building stuff.
I have no problem answering questions, but you should at least have done some buildings/roof tops by yourself before trying to build things mentioned in this guide.
1 – Dormer
I hope its mostly self-explaining.
Note that a little part of the main roof is still visible and was not removed. The dormer shouldn’t be higher than the main roof.
In case the blueprint of the dormer roof only appears in the same direction as the main roof, click on custom roofs and then push C. Now you can change the direction.
2 – Bungalow Roof (1)
IMPORTANT:
Both bungalow rooftops mentioned in this guide are very beautiful BUT you should build them only, if you do NOT need the attic- /garret space.
Just click at custom roofs and then push C . Now place the points in the direction in the drawing.
Im sure you can understad how to finish the next steps by yourself.
By the way, place all blueprints and then finnish them with logs. Completing (with logs) any part before all blueprints are placed will make it very hard to build this roof.
Special thanks to -/Naka/- for mentioning, that i did a mistake at the drawing
3 – Circle Tower
Just choose the stonewall in the buildingmenu and push C. And now build little wall pieces of the same lenth and turn you mouse in one direction (left or right) and carry on building the same size wall pieces.
You will get a perfect circle.
Important:
DO NOT PUSH ANY W-A-S-D BUTTONS WHILE DOING IT
You have to build the tower on a custom foundation
BUT I WANT A WOODEN TOWER !
No problem, just place one layer of the stonewall under the wooden tower (it has to do with the length of the elements) and hide the layer with custom foundations later.
4 – Conical Roof
Click on custom roofs and then push C
Now build as little stirpes of roofs til the roof is finished.
It really needs some time to get it working.
5 – Dormer for a door
Very similar to the usual dormer.
6 – Gangway
You can build a gangway with custom stairs.
It’s really useful to overlook the terrain around your base – to spot enemies and to attack them with fire arrows.
7 – Terrace
Mostly self-explaining.
Just don’t build the complete story and click on custom roofs.
Now the roof is “hovering in the air. Just place two “defensive walls” pieces under it.
8 – Bungalow Roof (2)
IMPORTANT:
Both bungalow rooftops mentioned in this guide are very beautiful BUT you should build them only, if you do NOT need the attic- /garret space.
When having finished the custom foundations and starting to build the walls, choose custom walls and try to split the wall into 3 elements at the long side of the building. This will help building the 3 same size custom floors later.
When you have done building the floors, choose the custom roof and push C.
Now you place the points in the direction like in the drawing.
It is helpful to start with the red one first: Not only as a blueprint, also by completing it with logs.
Now you can choose which step you want to do next (green/blue). It doesnt really matter, just build both of them first as a blueprint (without adding logs).
When all blueprints for green and blue are placed, add the logs.
9 – Stonewall Gable
To fill the gable you just have to fill as much as possible with the stonewall and then place the blueprints like in the following picture:
It takes some time to make the blueprints fit perfectly, but the result is really nice
Thanks to BRT Cobra
10 – Mediterranean Style Roof
Note that the roof(s) have a flat angle, which is common in the mediterranean area.
11 – Foursquare Roof
This one is for foursquare towers.
It’s by far the easiest one to make, next to the common saddle roof.
Just chose the custom roof and push C.
Now place the points on the custom floor in the direction mentioned in the drawing.
12 – Wooden Gable
To be honest, it’s not the most beautiful way BUT at least much better than an empty/gap gable.
My first try. Defensive walls placed in the middle:
To bad that the wooden gable will be destroyed too when trying to get rid off the defensive walls after you have finished the gable.
Placing a wall or other object that looks good and have to stay there is the best way to make one.
Note that with this method, there will be no windows at the gable.
This one is with windows. But seriously, it doenst look as good as the first (without windows) example and you have to build the roof that high to make it possible.
13 – Eaves
Since i made the meditreanean style villa i really had the need for the ability to make eaves.
And this is what i gained by just fooling around.
These ones are better.
The width of the eaves is your choise (of course) and i think small (or even no) eaves at the gable be will very beautiful too. The most important are the sides of the building i think.
The players view, standing under the eaves.
BE CAREFUL: When you try to build a bungalow or mediterranean style roof with eaves, the roof will look like this. It’s related to the different size of the walls (roof – actual custom floor)
I hope to find a way to make it possible.
14 – Monopitch Roof
And this is how to build it – with eaves only at the front side
as you can imagine, you only have to build enough wallparts to make the custom roof working.
So if you think enough about it before building, you dont have to chop off that much trees.
And this is, how it’s inside
As you can see, i already build this one with 360 dagree eaves. This isn’t nessesary and will make it harder for you to build (mistakes may occur)
The front eaves are pretty easy to make and are really a must-have in my opinion.
.
15 – Arch
If you want an arch for your backyard as a decoration, built it like in the 2nd picture from the top.
If you want the arch for a building (with walls above the arch), make sure you first complete the red marked stripes in the picture above. and then connect the pillars/piers with a straight stonewall blueprint.
Then you can complete it.
just place defensive walls under the middle and complete them with logs.
Now you can set the blueprints for the arch.
Unrelated:
If you have a large, boring stonewall with no decorations nor windows, try this one.
Self-explaining, i think…
16 – Ridge of the roof
Ridge of the roof
here are some improvised attempts, to fill the ugly gaps in the ridge of the roof.
this one is literally a table ridge 🙂
here you see the blueprints of stickholders as a ridge – senseless to fill the gap, but it will be beautiful – especially at bigger rooftops.
I also got very good results with benches, but a steeply angle roof is required.
