You think you’re ready or willing to even attempt it?
Then we shall begin!

Intro

Intro

! IMPORTANT !
In order to even attempt the Impossible mode,you need to grasp the understanding of the following mechanics.
It is also imperative that you have beaten the game at least once or twice,so as to memorize map layouts and item locations. (At least,to some degree)
The item locations in Paradise Lost don’t differ much from those of Postal 2 vanilla.

  • Crouch-Jumping
  • AI behavior
  • Movement
  • Radar

Why,you may ask?
Well i’ll explain.

/// Mechanics ///

1. Crouch Jumping

You will need to do this very often – in order to reach places bystanders will never reach themselves,and such places might have loot that you will take. In combat,crouch-jumping won’t have a large effect,because AI is programmed with (although relatively poor) aimbot. The way you crouch-jump,is by moving forward,jumping and when next to a ledge in mid-air, C. This gives more jump height than regular jumping.
You will also hide in these spots.

/// AI behaviour ///

You need to understand how AI reacts in certain situations that may occur. There are also ways to distract them. More on that later.

In Impossible,Bystanders will inflict the highest damage possible; it’s mandatory to evade their attention at all costs. Weapons that they spawn with will vary:
1.Pistols (Revolver – PL)
2.Shotguns (Lever Action – PL)
3.Machineguns,MP5.
4.All throwing weapons – grenades,scissors,molotovs,dynamites,flashbang grenades (PL),etc.
5.Rocket Launchers,Grenade Launchers,Napalm Cannister Launchers.

Bystanders will never spawn with Cow Heads or Hunting Rifles unless scripted – remember this.

Bystanders will spot you if you enter their Field of View at about 10-30 meter distance. At this point:
1. They will simply stare at you; going closer will have them attack you.
2. If you pull out a weapon of any kind,they will start attacking you.

Therefore, in order to progress further,kill only if necessary; a bystander attacking you will instantly alert all other bystanders in the area.
Be extremely vary of special bystanders,these include:

1.Any kind of law enforcement agents.
2. RWS employees.
3. Gary Coleman/ Krotchy (on respective days and maps).
These deal even more damage, and are tough to take down with guns (Krotchy is immune to gunfire at all),so…

On their respective days,the aforementioned specials will have to be dealth with;doing it without a Chompy or a Catnip will be,hence the name,Impossible.

Best ways to deal with bystanders:
1. Evasion
The easily best option – you do not receive any attention,therefore can progress further without being hindered. At certain points in the game however,it will be impossible to execute,or simply put,unavailable,forcing you to resort to the following ways.

2. Melee weapons
Use sharp melee weapons to score instant kills or chop off limbs to disable them. Seeing dead bystanders,others will become distracted by kicking the dead. Use moments like these to kill more bystanders.

3.Urinate / flip birds (PL)
Urinating or taunting with a middle finger on individual bystanders will direct their attention to you,but also stun them – best case scenario being them vomiting, or laughing, in which case you can kill or ignore them. Provided that they survive,they will chase you in which case you will have to urinate or taunt again.

4.Using guns or throwing weapons

Avoid using guns or throwing weapons (except scissors) at all costs (unless in PL – dualwielding), as they will give away your pisition,alert bystanders in the area,and most likely get you killed,even at full health. In the scenario that guns are used,only certain should be put to use. These include any kind of explosives,fire weapons,or, in other words, weapons that are able to splash damage.

Napalm Launchers are great for causing mass panic,however,be wary,as you can set yourself alight.

Scissors are good, if you can hit consecutive throws,as they are silent in their attack – normal bystanders require 3 hits. They can also be used to lure someone in attacking you, without drawing attention of other bystanders. Make sure to kill said attacker with a melee weapon,so as to not draw any attention.

/// Movement ///

It is quite important to know when to stop moving and when to move.
Several situations:

1. You enter a house,kill it’s inhabitans,and loot it of any items. Stop for a break, and save if need be. Remember – only one save allowed per level – I can’t help you if you f***ed up your only save in an area full of bystanders,or when you’re cornered for example in which case you will have to start from the auto-save, that is, if you have it enabled; otherwise you are totally screwed – never disable Auto-saving in Impossible, it’s invaluable. make it good.

2. You’re in an open area and there are bystanders staring…

You either kill them, or you can taunt and run through…or…simply back off.

Indeed,backing off will cause bystanders to lose their interest in you,and change their movement to another direction. Use this to run past them. Remember,to not pull out any weapons when bystanders are looking at you,unless you’re a gaming masochist.

/// Radar ///

Using your infinite Radar is very important to your survival.

It relays alot of important information – just taking a glimpse of it,will tell you what nearby bystanders are up to:

Yellow color indicates that they are either distracted or alarmed at something. Shooting a gun or breaking a window is a simple way to get them alarmed. Do note that while in this state,they are always going to look at the thing that distracted them,even through walls,meaning if you pull out a weapon,it’s possible they will attack you.

Red color indicates that they are currently angry,enraged,moving in to attack you,or actually attacking you. Hiding in narrow spaces will prevent them from attacking you,if they lose line of sight.

White color is common; indicates that bystanders are not doing anything,and just chilling.

Radar is your tool of survival – check it regularly for up-to-date information on bystanders.

Radar plugin items are purely optional if you find them; however do try to find Chompy game cartridges…since…

Chompy acts as a saving throw if you have angered a large mob.
Majoy Chompy locations,that i know of,will be revealed later,and they grant an invaluable advantage.
Using Chompy will make you invulnerable,while allowing you to kill bystanders,which, in most cases,will kill themselves with splash. Either way,kills with Chompy will reward with armor,food items,(that you CAN carry) or even catnip,which is almost invaluable in Impossible mode.

Some spots you can find Chompy in:
Next to the cop shop, in the parking lot, behind a dumpster, hidden in bushes, narrow space;
Near the Asylum, on top of a street light, furthermost to the level transition on the right. Along the way, you will get SiC armor.
Behind the Library Repository, hidden in a tree, accessed by roof.

Do note, that these spots are next to large mobs of bystanders, so you might want to create a distraction, or use a Catnip to get past them.

Good luck!

/// Distraction techniques ///

1.Drop a cat next to a dog.

The dog will attempt to kill the cat,which,if sucessful will draw bystanders to the dog,often killing themselves…

2. Stealth kill someone.

Nearby bystanders might get distracted – use the situation to kill them.

This information provided is major knowledge to most players out there.
Without it,it’s impossible (quite literally) to beat the game.
