Overview

Step-by-step guide for brewing: How to brew? Where to find equipment? Recipes list.

1. Brewing basics

There are 3 steps when brewing. Each step provides a higher-level item.

1. Mashing: requires a mashing tun,
2. Brewing: requires a fermenting barrel,
3. Distiling: requires a moonshine distillery.

For mashing, interact with a mashing tun by filling inside the correct ratio of ingredients according to the recipe (see section 3 below), and click “Mash”. When mashing is over, use an empty plastic bucket to get the output (“mash”).

For brewing, just put one or several mashes of the same kind in a fermenting barrel, and click “Brew”. When brewing is over, use an empty plastic bottle to get the output (“kilju”).

For distilling, put 9 kiljus of the same kind in a distillery, then click “Distill”. When done, use an empty wine bottle to get the output (“pontikka”).

The chain of ingredients is thus as follows:

1. Base ingredient
2. Mash
3. Kilju (beer and wines are also level 3)
4. Pontikka (whiskey is also level 4)

2. Where to find the brewing equipment?

Here is a quick location guide. See section 5 below for detailed maps.

At least two lonely mashing tuns are available:

• At the south-east of the map, close to the junk trader.
• North of your tenement, in Max Masher house.

At least one lonely fermenting barrel is available:

• Close to your tenement, next to the canal.

At least one lonely moonshine distillery is available:

• On the north-west of the map, past the cemetery, behind the small house.

Apart from these, some places have various equipment:

• On the upper floor of the bar, in the bazaar, two fermenting barrels are available.
• On the roof of the moonshine co-op is everything you need to do a complete brew: mashing tun, fermenting barrel and monshine distillery. However, to access this place, you must use a lockpick or pay 250 RM to become a member.
• In Deekula too, all material is available. Fermenting barrel requires lockpicking, other material freely available.

3. Mashing recipes

A recipe consist in combining a base and an ingredient.

The base can be either:

• 1 pack of yeast
• 1 green mushroom
• 1 greener mushroom
• 1 greenest mushroom

The ingredient can be:

• 2 malts
• 2 bags of sugar
• 4 turnips
• 4 potatoes
• 4 carrots
• 8 sh|ts

Depending on the base (yeast or mushroom), you’ll get a “mash” or a “shroom mash”. For example, the following recipe:

• 1 pack of yeast
• 4 turnips

Will get you a “Turnip mash”, while:

• 1 green mushroom
• 4 carrots

Will get you a “Carrot shroom mash”.

Note that using malt as the ingredient will give you just a “Mash” or a “Shroom mash”.

Using shrooms instead of yeast decreases the final product price. However, drinking a shroom-based alcohol does not cause depression to increase (pontikka), or decreases it instead of doing nothing (kilju). Some shroom-based alcohols also increase SMV illness (supposedly if you used greener or greenest shrooms?).

Get in the building, then up to the roof.

All needed material available. Use the stairs. Lockpick required for Brewing barrel, in apartment 5B. All other material in the topmost flat, no lockpick required.
