Introduction [WELCOME TO SEVASTOPOL]

Welcome to Sevastopol!

    Home to

    • Killer Androids
    • Homicidal Humans
    • A Menacing Alien Monster who will try to kill you the second you meet it

So, you want to learn how to survive on this station? Good news! This guide will teach you everything you need to know on how to do Just that!

Basics of Survival

Avoid the Alien At ALL COSTS

If you remember that, you’ll be fine

Always be on the look out for crafting components!
Which will be listed further down into this Guide

Dealing With the pesky humans…

If you run into humans, Don’t immediatly attack them. Listen in on their conversation from a safe distance. If they aren’t talking about Murder and what-not They are probably not hostile and you can approach them.
If there are humans carrying weapons with them, they ARE HOSTILE. And a efficient way of killing a large group of them is by using a Noisemaker, to alert the Alien. Or having them shoot AT you, not Shoot You entirely. Having any loud noise will have the Alien Alerted. Once the Alien is alerted you can sit back in a locker or cabinet and just listen to your enemies fight to the death.

But, you just said avoid the Alien at all costs! WHY WOULD I WANT TO ALERT THE ALIEN?!

A Valid question, I’m glad you asked 😀

You could try to just go around the humans in stealth mode, (I do that only for the “Mercy, or Prudence?” Achievement)
If you don’t want to immediatly alert the alien, Try throwing a flare, Noisemaker, or Smoke bomb in a random direction AWAY FROM YOU. They will be alerted and go investigate.
Note: Dont throw the Item to distract them in the direction you are trying to get to.

Lockers And Hiding Places

Lockers are an efficient way of hiding from the Alien, As long as you hold your breath and pull away from the lockers vent when the Alien is sniffing you out. And As long as you don’t spend 9258 hours waiting for the Alien to go away. Sometimes the Alien will use the process of elimination and determine your location. i.e. THE LOCKER YOU’RE SMUGGLY HIDING IN!

Tables are a quieter alternative to using a locker, however they are more exposed.
When playing on ‘Easy’ difficulty tables are as effective as a locker is. Because the Alien isn’t as smart. But if playing on ‘Hard’ The alien will see you in his peripheral vision and kill you. As long as you stay out of sight of the Alien, you’ll be just fine.

Using Tools and Weapons

Without tools and weapons, you wouldn’t stand a chance.
With Weapons and Tools, You still don’t stand much of a chance.
Unless you use them correctly.

Weapons

When using weapons, always remember that Weapons produce noise. Noise alerts enemies, enemies go towards the noise, and kill whatever caused the noise.

Sometimes creating noise is a good idea, if you have laid down traps (Pipe Bombs, EMP’s, etc.) using your Maintenance Jack and hitting a nearby wall isn’t a bad idea. Just don’t over use this tactic, because things don’t always go to plan.

Tools

Tools, Noisemakers, Smoke Bombs etc., Are a great way to cause distraction, or create chaos.
Throwing a Flare or Noisemaker can cause a distraction for enemies, allowing you to pass untouched by their bullets, Or their claws.

Pipe Bombs and EMP’s can be thrown or place down, so if a group of humans or androids pass over them the could get Stunned or Killed all together.

Flashbangs and Smokebombs provide decent cover and blind nearby enemies. Remember this if anyone thinks they see you.

Pipebombs and Molotovs are the most damaging tool, Throwing them at enemies will cause extreme damage to them and the surrounding area. Throwing them too close will cause your immediate death. Use with Caution.

Medikits are a quick and easy way to ‘Lift your spirits’. Using one is quick and worth the time and brings up alot of health.

If you remember those tips you’ll be on your way to freedom and safety on Sevastopol Station!

REMINDER

– If you see the following during your gameplay experience. You may have messed up a tiny bit.

Navigating Through Sevastopol

[Under Construction]
A message brought to you by Apollo

Navigating through Sevastopol can be very tricky at times due to all the obstales thrown at you.
These obstacles include
– Androids
– Alien
– Cameras
– Other Humans
– Locked doors
– And the inability to jump.

Some ways to help ensure you survive these obstacles include
– Make sure you have a back up plan EVERY STEP OF THE WAY. If you notice a Locker or table you could hide in, Remember where it is. That way, incase you do run into some difficulties and are panicing, you can carefully go back to the closest hiding spot you found on the way.

Weapons/Handhelds

The weapons in Alien: Isolation, are not just a free pass to use any time you want. They come with consequences, and those consequences lead to death.

USING ANY FIREARM WHEN ONLY FIGHTING THE ALIEN IS SUICIDE!!!
ONLY USE THE FLAMETHROWER DIRECTLY AT THE ALIEN!!!

The Revolver

The Revolver is a pistol, (Duh)
It is one of the first Weapons you get in the game.
It isn’t worth shooting!

  • it Creates ALOT OF NOISE
  • Alerts Everyone nearby
  • Doesn’t affect the Alien AT ALL
  • Kills Humans after 2-3 hits
  • Kills Androids after 5-6 hits
  • Individually reloading each bullet chamber takes time

Use this gun ONLY WHEN STRICTLY NECESSARY!
And by Necessary I mean

  • If you see a propane tank next to the Alien,
  • Or if you know the Alien is taking a break from stalking you and you need to shoot some humans

The Shotgun

  • Creates alot of noise
  • Does significant damage to Androids and Humans
  • Kills Android after 1-2 Headshots
  • Kills Humans after 1-2 Headshots
  • Reloading Takes some time

Using this gun isn’t the best option, but it is an effective option. Using this against your enemies will result in victory in most cases. Unless the Alien is around to hear, then you might have some trouble.

The Flamethrower

Possibly the best way of escaping the Alien, Otherwise Considered Xenomorph Repellant

  • Runs on Flamethrower Fuel
  • Burns through Fuel quickly
  • Takes around 8 seconds to reload
  • When used properly can get the Alien to retreat for a short duration, which could lead you to safety
  • Weakens Androids

The best times to use this is if the Alien sees you and is chasin after you. Aiming the flamethrower at him and burning him for 1-2 seconds will force him to retreat. Giving you a second chance and time to hide.
Don’t waste Fuel! Use short bursts when using the flamethrower, don’t empty the fuel tank with one Alien Encounter.

The Boltgun

Androids Beware

  • One Shot, Long Reload
  • Powerful Against Androids
  • Powerful Against Humans
  • Fires Bolts at target
  • When trying to shoot, you CANNOT instantly fire. You have to hold down on the trigger and allow it to build up pressure for a more accurate and powerful shot
  • Creates ALOT of noise

Basically the Android killer, Using this to kill the androids is efficient and effective. Make sure to aim for the Head when shooting at androids, if done properly you’ll kill them with one headshot.

Stun Baton

“Quite Shocking isn’t it?”

  • Uses Batteries
  • Stuns non-rubber protected androids, allowing for Melee Takedowns
  • One battery per Stun
  • Only for Close-Quarter-Combat
  • Does NOT affect Alien

Will not work on Androids with Orange jumpsuits*

HANDHELDS

The Motiontracker

See your enemy, before they see you

  • Indicates how far away the nearest enemy is
  • Indicates any moving object
  • Guides you where you need to go using the outer rim indicator
  • Receives interference in ventilation shafts
  • If an enemy is close to you while you are hiding in a locker they will hear the Tracker Ping. If you hold it up. (Courtesy of dastoupro4you)

You better almost always have this on screen. It’ll save your life more times than any Flamethrower or Boltgun.

The Maintenance Jack

“Just need the right tool for the job”

  • First Weapon you get in the game
  • Useful against Androids but isn’t super effective
  • Unarmed Human? Whack ’em!
  • Creates Noise if hitting an object
  • Used to Unlock doors with Emergeny Braces attached to them

A useful strategy to draw attention is to hit a nearby object or wall, creating noise, alerting enemies, and possibly getting the Alien to show up and clean up any unwanted humans.
Downside to this strategy is the Xenomorph that you just attracted, Have Fun with that…..

Tools

Craftable Tools/Gadgets

Most of these gadgets can be triggered by enemies if you place them on the ground and wait for an NPC to trigger it by walking closely by it. Keep this in mind when setting up a trap or escape plan.

The Medikit

  • Regenerates a portion of your health
  • No Effects on anything but you

The Flare

  • An acceptable substitue for a Noisemaker
  • Instead of Auditory it is a visual distraction
  • “Let there be light”

The Noisemaker

  • An EXCELLENT distraction
  • Quickiest way to create a diversion in order for you to move on undetected
  • Auditory Distraction that effects all Enemies

The Smoke Bomb

  • Provides a smoky cover to hide in to avoid detection.
  • NOT A GOOD SUBSITUTE FOR FLARE OR NOISEMAKER
  • Does NOT distract enemies! It simply just blocks their line of sight. It Will NOT cause any enemy to investigate the area the Smoke Bomb went off at.

The Flashbang

  • Useful for blinding enemies… and yourself if you want
  • Good way to stun enemies to run away or attack

The Molotov

  • Alternative to the Flamethrower if used correctly
  • Fatal if used incorrectly, if you throw it too close. You will be nicely cooked for the Alien to eat your face.
  • Devastating against Humans
  • Moderatley damaging to Androids
  • Will cause Alien to Retreat if thrown properly.

The E.M.P.

“Quite Shocking isn- Oh forget it…..”

  • Stuns Androids temporarily allowing for melee takedowns

The Pipebomb

  • Explosive
  • Extremely Damaging to both Humans and Androids
  • Creates ALOT of noise
  • Use with Caution
