Overview
A simple guide on how to hunt the Alien Super Zombie on V1 Colorado.
The Alien Super Zombie
If you are reading this guide then I am assuming you already know about, or have heard about the Alien Super Zombie.
The Alien Super Zombie is a special zombie that spawns only at night and has roughly 4x the health of a regular super zombie, he looks like a super zombie except he is black with orange and red colouring.
Some information on the Alien Super Zombie (ASZ):
- Headshots don’t count! They do no additional damage to the ASZ just like a regular Super Zombie. Aim for the torso to make sure you pump as many rounds as possible into him!
- Zombie repellant works on him and will give you time to set up easier.
- The ASZ will drop dead and despawn at 04:00 even if you are fighting him, if you dont have time to kill him then it’s better to save the ammo.
Requirements for spawning and setting up to farm
This section will cover the requirements for spawning the ASZ and how to effectively farm them!
How to spawn the ASZ:
The ASZ will only spawn if the server is empty between 21:45 and 22:05 game time. He will only spawn in specific locations, in this case, Frosty Pines and Crystal Lake Resort!
Setting up effectively:
In order to kill the ASZ you will need to do a little bit of prep, in order to kill both in one night you will need to do a little more prep!
First have two characters geared to fight the ASZ. The gear I use is:
- M249 machine gun with 6 boxes of ammo (can also use PKM. Havent tested with the others but either of these work great!).
- Weapon attatchments: Rifle Laser, Modular or Forward Grip and a Compact Scope. The accuracy increases help make sure less bullets miss.
- Melee weapon of choice OR pistol and silencer to take out zombies as you approach.
- Heavy Armor.
- K.Style NVG or M9 NVG, could even use standard NVGs as the ASZ shouldnt hit you.
- Bandages just in case you take a couple of hits along the way.
- OPTIONAL: Zombie repellant. Useful for entering the car park at Frosty Pines.
NOTE: This list is per character, so if you are killing both ASZs then have this on each character!
Once you have the gear for taking out the ASZ have each character head over to the locations they spawn in. I usually log out of Frosty Pines at the intersection where the road starts. For Crystal Lake Resort I start back past the car on the western side of the lake, just a little out of town along the road.
Once you have your gear and your characters are in position you are ready to start farming!
Again, for the ASZ to spawn you need to have the server empty by 21:45 until at least 22:05!
I usually log off at 21:30 as that allows plenty of time to disconnect and double check my gear.
Once you are certain that it is past 22:05 you can log in to the characters for each area and proceed to killing them, the next two sections are about each specific location.
Crystal Lake Resort
Farming the ASZ at Crystal Lake resort is definitely the safest and easiest of the two locations!
Assuming you followed my guide to this point you will either spawn near the car you logged out of, or if the game hates you like it does me, you will have been dumped a lot further away south. If this has happened you can run to town and still have time to fight both ASZs, or you can drive up the road until you reach the car.
As you run along the road from the car and into town pay attention to the gas station on the right, There are some crates you can super jump (V) up and climb to the roof. This is your safe spot!
Opposite this gas station is the church and car park where the ASZ spawns, by now you might hear him, he usually spawns at the end of the fence toward the right and wanders near to the main intersection, simple pop a couple of shots into him to grab his attention and climb to the roof.
He will run over expecting to pummel your face with his mighty undead fists only to find you are now out of reach, at which point he will simply stand there confused as you empty anywhere between 3 and 6 boxes of ammo into his chest!
He will die and you will loot!
Simple!
Frosty Pines
Frosty Pines is slightly more difficult than Crystal Lake because you have to get a lot closer to the ASZ and there is a higher chance of you taking a couple of hits.
The spawn point for the ASZ in Frosty Pines is a car park on the southern edge of town. There is a tall building and a car park surrounded by white walls. Inside the car park are a couple of truck trailers and two white containers. The one against the south wall is the one you want for the safespot. The ASZ will spawn roughly in the middle of the car park.
So if you have followed me so far you should spawn in at the intersection, if not then the game might have put you closer to the ASZ spawn point. From the intersection head north across the grass and you should go over a hill. As you coem over the hill the tall building should be more or less right in front of you. You’ll see a hole in the wall on the left of the wall and tucked around a corner on the right is a similar hole in the wall. Run into the car park through either of these entrances and head for the white containr against the southern wall. Super jump (V) into it and quickly (if you haven’t used zombie repellant) super jump onto the edge of the container against the wall and again to get on top of the wall itself. From here the ASZ will either lose aggro and let you kill it, or it will run around to the outside edge and try to punch you. It can reach you on the wall but if you take a step or two backwards it will lose aggro and you can kill it then!
Bugs and solutions
This section will hopefully help you fix some problems that might occur during your hunting, These are issues I encountered and thankfully have very simple fixes!
The ASZ Isn’t spawning:
If playing with other people, log off slightly earlier to ensure that noone is still on the server, leave slightly more time for the server to register that it was empty at the correct time!
Sometimes if the game spawns me too close to the ASZ spawn location he isn’t there, I usually run back to the starting points mentioned earlier or take a stroll about town making sure I put some distance between me and the spawn point. This usually fixes the issue and when I return he has usually spawned.
Another potential fix for this is to move further away from the spawn zone and have everyone log out and log back in again, I have had him spawn after doing so on a few occasions.
These are the only issues I have come across so far, but please do let me know if you find any others and i’ll try to find a solution!
Unconfirmed Reports
After posting the guide initially, I had some reports of ASZ spawning and behaviour that I didn’t encounter during my own tests. I can’t vouch for the accuracy of them as I haven’t been able to test them personally so be aware that these may or may not be accurate!
- The ASZ Does not despawn at 04:00 AM – Apparently there have been cases where the ASZ didn’t drop dead at 04:00 AM. Couldn’t confirm this personally, it may have been a bug. My opinion is it is better safe than sorry!
- The ASZ can spawn on populated servers – This is something I never managed to prove, I also can’t disprove it. All I can say is that from my experience I never had one spawn but there are reports of it spawning even on populated worlds. If you don’t have access to a private server then it might be worth giving it a try if you can find an ASZ spawn on a public server.
Thank you!
