Overview
A guide that covers all 51 broadcasting frequency locations in Whisper of a Rose.
Guide Information
There are a total of 51 broadcasting frequencies to be found throughout Whisper of a Rose. Players are locked out completing this side quest until New Game+, however. The reasoning for this is because a few of the frequencies are found after the point of New Game+. Therefore, they cannot be returned to Lady Anatta. However, these frequencies are added to the inventory when a new game is started in New Game+.
Disclaimer: This is my first ever guide written for Steam. Hopefully, I will be able to help others complete this frustrating side quest. I will try my best to point out each location in an easy to understand manner. Missable frequencies will be clearly marked. I will try my best to provide screenshots when necessary, but most of the chests are very visible or in your direct path.
Unfortunately, I had the hindsight to make this guide after I completed most of the game and opened the chests and not DURING. Therefore, I’m not able to provide screenshots for areas that are missable and I cannot return to. Hopefully the common sense to go over everything with a fine toothed comb will suffice. Some screenshots were taken from the official guide (which you can purchase on Steam), and some were taken or edited by myself.
If I missed anything, or any of the information is wrong, please let me know and I will fix it.
Rewards
Completing this side quest will unlock the “Beautiful Balladeer” achievement. It also gives access to the summon Pan, if Melrose is a Summoner. After summoning Pan, you will also unlock the “Pan’s Song” achievement.
The broadcasting station can be used to play any one of the tracks that you bring back to the station. All of the tracks are music that are featured within the game.
Finding Lady Anatta
In order to officially start this quest, you must first find Lady Anatta. She can be found very early on, despite the fact that this quest spans over the entire game.
As her name suggests, she can be found in the Anatta Woods. This is an area first accessed when you leave the Misty Hills Inn at the Crystal Hills. When you enter Anatta Woods, go east from the signpost and healing circle. By following the dirt path, you’ll come to a blue chest on the right, and a path leading in to the trees to the left. The path leading in to the trees is Lady Anatta’s broadcasting station. Below is an aerial view of the area with an arrow leading to the station, and also a picture from the ground, near the chest.
Speaking to her will allow you to add her quest to your quest log. However, you can still pick up frequencies and return to this location later to speak to her if you somehow missed her your first time. There is also a Memory Teleportal here, which I strongly suggest you unlock with 15 Memory Orbs. This way, you can use a Recollection Orb to return to her at any point.
Frequency Locations (1 – 25)
I will be listing all of the frequencies in alphabetical order, as this is how they appear in the list at Heart Station. Note that some frequencies have a different name when listed at Heart Station that they do when picked up. I will try and note this when possible.
Frequencies are found in distinctive blue treasure chests. Keep an eye out!
Location: Mt. Drago, on an island to the east. Refer to the map below for the blue cross on the map.
Location: Desert of Solitude. On the map below, go in to cave #3. Follow the red path to cave entrance #4. You will come out to the cliff with the frequency, indicated by the blue cross.
Location: Inside the Aztec Temple. Found in the rectangular maze on the eastern side. On the map below, it’s marked with the red X.
Location: Beaches of Freedom. Refer to the map below for all three chest locations on the first screen.
Note: When picked up, this broadcast will read as “Beaches of Freedom” in the inventory.
***MISSABLE***
Location: In the dream world of Montas College. It can be found on a platform in the cafeteria, which is to the west. You will never be able to come back to this location, so be sure to pick this up! Below is a map of the cafeteria. The yellow line shows the path you can navigate, and the yellow crosses are the treasure chests.
Note: When picked up, this broadcast will read as “Bustle of the City” in the inventory.
Location: Lava Caves. After crossing the large lava pit by hopping across rocks, you’ll enter another cave. To the north is the city of Vestyrka. However, if you go east, you’ll find a dead end with a Memory Teleportal. The chest is here.
Location: Inside the Fureta Jungle. It’s at a dead end path in the middle of the jungle. Below is an overhead view of the Fureta Jungle. The red “X” on the map is where you will find the frequency. For reference, the blue circle on the map is the Memory Teleportal.
Location: Anatta Woods, in the chest near Heart Station.
Location: Historical Museum, beside the portal. This is where the fight with Lenin Levious takes place.
Location: Inside the Butterfly Caves. This requires a bit of navigating, due to the complicated cave system, but I will provide maps below. When you enter Butterfly Hills, go west and climb up the vine. Enter the cave.
You will enter at A4. Follow the red line to B1.
Follow the red line from B1 to C5.
Chest is at the red circle.
Location: Crystal Hills, in the south-western part of the second screen. Following the maps below, follow the blue lines to reach the chest.
Location: Cursed Forest, east of Hallowtown. If you are leaving Hallowtown, travel east to the next screen. On this screen, go north when you see a slope. Up this hill is the chest with the frequency.
Location: Mighty Wizard’s Castle, in the eastern wing of the Castle. Go through the eastern door, and go east again at the first fork.
Location: South-eastern area of the swamp. The map for the Swamp is so big that the area with the frequency isn’t shown. Follow the red arrow south, and explore the whole area, going as far east as possible.
Location: Desert of Solitude, with the Keeper of Loneliness. On the map below enter cave #6. Follow the red line to the entrance to where the Keeper of Loneliness lives.
Location: Beaches of Freedom, north-western cliff. Follow the red line to get to the chest.
Location: Beaches of Freedom, north-western cliff. Same as above.
Location: Beaches of Freedom. I can’t remember exactly WHICH chest it’s in truthfully, but either way… the maps posted above show all locations of chests on the first screen. If not found in those chests, it’s in the chest to the west of Eley.
***MISSABLE***
Location: This chest only appears in the “fragmented” version of Fureta Jungle. After Melrose is visited by the agents and loses her memory, you will be prompted to go to the Aztec Temple. Before you go, look for this chest outside of the Cave of Creativity. It does sort of blend in with the background, so I’ll mark it on the map.
Location: Pirate Cove. Located in the “treasure room” (there’s an achievement for visiting this area). The path leading to this treasure room is found to the west of the pirate ship at the end of the cave.
Location: Catacombs, in the south-eastern corner. The map below is the Catacombs area. The chest with the frequency is indicated by the white circle.
***MISSABLE***
Location: Candy Mountain. Once you leave Candy Mountain, you will never be able to access this area again, so it is essential this broadcast is picked up. It can be found on the second screen. This screen is pretty small, so it shouldn’t be hard to find.
Location: Herb Cave. After solving the Spinx’s puzzle (when looking for ingredients for the hex cure), a nearby rock will break. Inside the rock is the chest containing the frequency. It’s north of the entrance to the cave on the first screen.
Location: Beaches of Freedom, same chest as frequency #18.
Location: Desert of Solitude, same as frequency #2.
Frequency Locations (26 – 40)
Location: Marionette Factory, on the second screen in the south-eastern area. It’s on the same platform that you can find the Summon Pinoch.
Location: At the center of the Cerebral Cortex. This is the area where you fight Thom/Lisetrix near Meylin Underwater Town.
Location: Sweet Tower. While at the top of the tower, jump off the balcony to the right. This will allow you to go back in to the tower where the frequency is. You’ll have an opportunity to do this while climbing the tower to confront the boss.
***MISSABLE***
Location: Land of Lost Memories, in a chest to the north-west from the starting area. The game ends after you leave this area and fight the boss, so don’t forget it! This is one of the frequencies obtained after the point of no return. It will appear in your inventory during the start of New Game+.
Location: Beaches of Freedom. This is located to the north, near a blocked off cave entrance.
Location: In the Mirrocle Caverns puzzle room. This room features many mirrors where you must direct a beam of light. The chest is in plain sight, but in order to open it, you must shine the light on to the chest. Here’s the puzzle solution in order to open the chest.
Location: At the Gate of Seasons. Another one that’s virtually impossible to miss.
Location: In the town of Vestryka, in a north-east corner. It’s just east of the staircase leading to the large mansion.
Location: Pirate Cove, same chest as frequency #20.
Location: Light to the Sky. This is the area that you travel though via portal after defeating Lenin Levious in the Museum. Right in the path, impossible to miss.
Location: At the center of the Cerebral Cortex. This is the area where you fight Thom/Lisetrix near Meylin Underwater Town. In the same chest as #27.
***MISSABLE***
Location: Land of Lost Memories, in a chest to the north-west from the starting point. The game ends after you leave this area and fight the boss, so don’t forget it! This is one of the frequencies obtained after the point of no return. It will appear in your inventory during the start of New Game+. Found in the same chest as frequency #29.
Location: Butterly Hills. This one is a bit hard to explain due to the complicated cavern system. First of all, get the butterfly droppings from Anatta Woods and get past the butterflies blocking the path. Looking at the map below, go to the cave marked “D4”.
In this new cave system, navigate to the area “E2”.
Eventually, you will be led outside again. Following the map below, you’ll be able to find the frequency (finally).
Location: Mighty Wizard’s Castle, inside the study. This is an aerial view of the grand study. The white circle is the chest.
Location: Inside the Love Engine Dungeon. While making your way through the dungeon, you’ll be required to pull multiple switches to open up gates. Below is a map of one of these rooms. The chest is indicated with a red cross.
Frequency Locations (41 – 51)
Location: Catacombs, in the south-eastern corner. Same chest as frequency #21. Reference the map below for the Catacombs. The chest with the frequency is indicated by the white circle.
***MISSABLE***
Location: Land of Lost Memories, in a chest to the north-west. The game ends after you leave this area and fight the boss, so don’t forget it! This is one of the frequencies obtained after the point of no return. It will appear in your inventory during the start of New Game+. Found in the same chest as frequency #29 and #37.
Location: Mt. Drago, on the platform where you fight the Fire Dragon.
Location: North-east area in the Hills of the Crying Moon. Reference the map below.
Location: Also in the Hills of the Crying Moon. This time, it’s in the south-western area. Follow the red path to the x on the map.
Location: Mighty Wizard’s castle, in the study. In the same chest as #39. This is an aerial view of the grand study. The white circle is the chest.
Location: At the center of the Cerebral Cortex. This is the area where you fight Thom/Lisetrix near Meylin Underwater Town. In the same chest as #27 and #36.
Location: Eastern side of the Ladybug Village. North of the Memory Teleportal.
Location: Beaches of Freedom, to the west of the entrance of Eley.
#50 – “Twilight Scene”
Location: Desert of Solitude. Same location as frequency #25.
Location: Mirrorcle Caves. This one is impossible to miss, as you will run across it in your path on your way out of the area, going into the Cursed Forest.
