Overview
Throughout Grand Theft Auto IV, Niko will encounter various choices that shape the outcome of the story. The following guide contains all choices in the story of GTA IV.WARNING: MAJOR SPOILER ALERT!The following guide contains spoilers for the entire game. If you do not wish for the entire story to be spoiled, please, do not read this guide. You have been warned.
Decision #1 – “Ivan the Not So Terrible”
MISSION: “IVAN THE NOT SO TERRIBLE”
You can either:
1. SAVE IVAN: If you spare Ivan’s life, he’ll reappear again as a Random Character.
2. KILL IVAN: Ivan will die, and not appear anymore in the game.
Decision #2 – “Ruff Rider”
MISSION: “RUFF RIDER”
You can either:
1. SPARE CHERISE: Cherise will live, and will appear later in the game on a random encounter mission
2. KILL CHERISE: Cherise will die, and not appear anymore in the game.
Decision #3 – “Holland Nights”
MISSION: “HOLLAND NIGHTS”
You can either:
1. SPARE CLARENCE: If you spare Clarence’s life, he’ll reappear again as a Random Character.
2. KILL CLARENCE: Clarence will die, and not appear anymore in the game.
Decision #4 – “The Holland Play”
MISSION: “THE HOLLAND PLAY”
You can either:
1. KILL PLAYBOY X: If you kill Playboy X, you’ll get his penthouse as a reward for you to use as your own safehouse, and Claude Speeds outfit from GTA III will be available for you by using the wardrope in the penthouse. Dwayne Forge will also become your friend if you reply positively to his E-Mail after the mission.
2. KILL DWAYNE FORGE: If you kill Dwayne, you’ll get a $25,000 reward, and Playboy X will never speak to Niko again.
Decision #5 – “Blood Brothers”
MISSION: “BLOOD BROTHERS”
You can either:
1. KILL DERRICK MCREARY: If you kill Derrick, make sure to call Francis before the execution to double the reward to $20,000. You’ll also get the ability to get rid up to a 3 star wanted level by calling Francis. This ability will be disabled after the end of the game.
2. KILL FRANCIS MCREARY: If you kill Francis, you will not receive anything from Derrick. However, this choice will simplify the next mission, Undertaker, where you need to drive to the cemetery in Colony Island instead of Steinway.
Decision #6 – “That Special Someone”
MISSION: “THAT SPECIAL SOMEONE”
You can either:
1. SPARE DARKO: This decision will have no impact on the storyline. The dialogue with Roman and Florian after the mission will change depending on the choice made.
2. KILL DARKO: This decision will have no impact on the storyline. The dialogue with Roman and Florian after the mission will change depending on the choice made.
Decision #7 – DEAL or REVENGE
After the mission “One Last Thing”, in which Niko is given the option to do the deal with Dimitri or kill him, two missions appear on the radar so Niko can decide what to do. Depending on the mission chosen, the ending (as a result, the last two missions) will be different.
CHOICE 1: DEAL
Should the player take the Deal, Niko will receive $250,000. However, Roman will die and Kate will leave you.
CHOICE 2: REVENGE
Should the player wish to take Revenge, Niko will be able to kill both Dimitri and Pegarino, however, Kate will die.
