Nacuki’s end
This is not the end of the game, after death the game continues. Added this item for information only.
Death occurs at the beginning of Act 1, when the player writes a poem for Natsuki herself.
On the third day of Act 2, the player and the characters recite poems to each other. After reciting a poem for Natsuki, she begins to hysteria that the player spends too much time with Yuuri, and tells that she is lonely and dreams of being played with.
After that, Natsuki’s character starts to glitch, instead of the heroine’s eyes and mouth, black pixels appear, and she begins to cry blood. After the glitches, a screamer appears, and after a while the game continues to work as if nothing had happened.
Sayori’s End
This ending cannot be changed, it will happen anyway.
Regardless of the choices made, Sayori will hang herself in her room, where the Protagonist will find her.
In act 3 of the game, Monica says that Sayori was covered in blood, since she got off the chair, and did not jump from a tall building, and slowly suffocated, but she could break her neck and die painlessly. Her hands were bloody as her reflexes were on the noose to pull her neck off the rope, but as expected it was a failure.
Yuri’s End
This is not the end of the game, but the event that leads to Monica’s Ending.
Yuri’s ending occurs when Yuri shows his poem to the Protagonist during Act 2. Yuri confesses his love to the Protagonist. Regardless of the Protagonist’s answer, Yuuri stabs himself 2 times in the stomach and 1 time in the chest, and subsequently dies.
The protagonist will have to spend a whole weekend with her corpse in the classroom (day and night change several times – this can be seen from the lighting). While the protagonist is standing over her body, and confusion is constantly changing at the bottom of the screen, her blood begins to darken a little, until at the end it turns almost black.
Later, Monica admits that this boredom continued for so long due to the fact that she ran a broken script.
As with Natsuki, the events take place at the beginning of the second act during the narration of poems. With the help of the verse, Yuri confesses his love to the player. Despite the player’s own answer, she pierces her chest with a knife 1 time and her stomach 2 times. And directly dies.
But as the player later learns, due to the fact that Monica launched the broken script, the player had to sit looking at Yuuri’s corpse for about a week, this can be understood by changing the lighting in the room. This continued until Yuuri’s blood practically turned black.
Monica’s end
The end begins when Monika removes Yuri and Natsuki’s files from the game.
The player appears with Monica in an empty room. Behind Monica you can see space in the windows. Monica admits that she manipulated the player so that he would stay alone with her. Monica says different ones, in some dialogues there is a hint that you need to remove Monica from the game. If this is not done, Monica will tell the player something.
After deleting Monica’s file, she starts to glitch and says that the player acted meanly. And she begins to regret what she did to her friends, and returns them to the game.
And leaves this letter:
Quick ending
The ending is to delete the monika.chr files and the monika.chr.bak file before starting the game. If you delete Monica’s file, Sayori will understand that she is alive. When you enter the game, you will see the inscription “END” on a sparkling background, and then Sayori hung on a rope in the left side of the screen. After 10 minutes, the inscription will appear: “Now everyone will be happy.” If we delete the Sayori file, then after opening the game we will immediately see the image of the hanged Sayori, without the end inscription at the beginning.
True end
If the player saved to go through the routes of each of the girls, and collected all their images, the true ending will open and Sayori will thank him for trying to make everyone happy. After credits, images will not be deleted. The player will receive a letter of thanks from the developers instead of Monica’s letter.
If the player saved, each time to go through the root of each heroine. And I collected an image of each of them, then the correct ending will open. Sayori will thank the player because he wanted to make every member of the club happy. After that, instead of a letter to Monica, the player will receive a letter from the developers dedicated to the player who received this ending.
For years, I have been enamored by the ability of visual novels – and games in general – to tell stories in ways not possible using traditional media. Doki Doki Literature Club is my love letter to that. Games are an interactive art. Some let you explore new worlds. Some challenge your mind in broad new ways. Some make you feel like a hero or a friend, even when life is hard on you. Some games are just plain fun – and that’s okay, too.
Everyone likes different kinds of games. People who enjoy dating sims may have a heightened empathy for fictional characters, or they might be experiencing feelings that life has not been kind enough to offer them. If they are enjoying themselves, then that’s all that matters. That goes for shooting games, casual games, sandbox games – anything. Preferences are preferences, and our differences are the reason we have a thriving video game industry. My own favorite games have always been ones that challenge the status quo. Even if not a masterpiece, any game that attempts something wildly different may earn a special place in my heart. Anything that further pushes the limitless bounds of interactive media.
I extend my true gratitude to all those who have taken the time to achieve full completion. I hope you enjoyed playing it as much as I enjoyed making it.
Thank you for being a part of my Literature Club!
Love,
Dan Salvato”
