A Couple of months ago, I made a guide that explained design backgrounds and similarities,that Doom Eternal influenced of. Now that the new DLC is out, I made another guide.This time it looks upon the Ancient Gods DLC.Have Fun all, Sincerly, Raidencan.

I Want to mention, this guide will be shorter than the last one. Considering the fact that many things I will going to be talk about here, are answered on that one.

Religious, Mythical Meanings Real life Environmental Designs
Davoth:
Davoth’s name, most certainly comes from our Prophet David.
Considering the fact that he is one of the prophets of Abrahamic religions that being kept prayed around the world. He has many pronunciations around the world, (some sounds similar to our game one)
Why a divine prophets name featured as prime evil I don’t know.

Trinity Maykr Symbol:
Christianity’s Trinity system can be attributed to Maykr symbol, as highly shown to be a trident.
Well, Poseidon’s trident can be an example too but can’t give an explanation regarding the game about it.
About the Trinity, each point can be attributed to individuals.
We call Vega as Father, Samur may be the Holy Spirit, for the son;
I don’t have a prominent idea and there are none specific examples.
(Doomguy and Davoth don’t seem fit.)

Father’s Appearance:
Father’s Codex inscriptions give him a Staff and Cloak, for staff I can attribute that to our prophet Moses’s staff.

Dark Lord’s Tattoos:
Dark Lord’s back features many symbols and carving on his back. Some can be seen in the game.
Quake like symbol’s (can be seen on right) middle part, features somewhat a Scarab looking part.
Scarabs are a highly respected cultural icon in Egyptian society, it also has mythological meanings; Scarab was seen as a symbol of this heavenly cycle and of the idea of rebirth or regeneration. This relation comes from the Sun God, Ra’s everyday sun carrying cycle, as Birth – death and vice versa. Same can be seen on Scarabs living behavior that carries his destiny with its back itself.

Red Trees and Urdak’s Habitat:
I talked about how red trees bear similarity to the Sakura trees on my first guide.
Now come to think of it after coming from the Equestrian Holt area, it has clearly become
Clear to me; those trees most probably affected by Urdak’s unnatural flora also otherworldly 3D printed highly irradiated elements.
There is a phenomenon that occurs to the trees and forests in highly radioactive environments called “Red Forest”. That’s why trees appear to be full red.
If we are to simply explain it without delving too much into biology; we know that in autumn leaves fall from trees as a seasonal refreshment of biological floras.
When highly irradiated matter or waves hit plant famila this procedure is highly accelerated by ionizing radiation regarding the fact of DNA damage and severe constant burns.
We have a famous example of a situation that happened in our history. Very much defined this phenomenon.
In the forest near to Chernobyl Nuclear station now in Ukraine Pripyat (close to Belarus border) Regarding the fact of the nuclear reactor explosion, irradiated air and huge proportions of material transferred through to thousand Kilometer’s worldwide, one forest very close to the reactor, turned orange – red colors in the following days of the accident.

Ingmore’s Sanctum:
This was one of the most hyped areas that we waited to see considering the fact of cliffhanger cut on the trailers.
It’s so bad to see we can’t explore the area through conventional methods.
It is a very dull looking part that has been revealed in the release version must have been richer looking in my opinion anyway.
Now there is some lore talk we need to make on this topic, but I will make it on the “issues” section.
But I can say these on here; The buildings that sit on top of the worm-like creatures seem very similar to the Mesopotamian looking structures that featured on 2016’s Argent D Nur’s part that sucked to hell. Well, other than clear lightning, some skeletal forms and others, etc.
We need to talk about Topographical features. Most prominently looks of that place are closely
Related to the Travertines and skeletal looking sprouts of soul spheres.
What is Travertine you say?
Travertine is a form of limestone deposited by mineral springs, especially hot springs. Travertine is a terrestrial sedimentary rock, formed by the precipitation of carbonate minerals from solution in ground and surface waters, or geothermal heated hot-springs.
What do Thermal springs have to do with the birthplace of gods?
If we need to answer this question we need to go way back to the first stages of life forms on Earth. Way back like before “Paleozoic area” like back.
In that timeline Carbon-based compounds slowly paved the way to the first simplistic cell life forms. Do you know where these highly occurred? Carbon-rich mild heat environments just like…
Don’t get the wrong idea, boiling acidic waters high carbon-dense air and many extreme conditions are present in that era only beings capable to survive are Extremophiles.

There are dozens of Travertines around the world. From America to Europe Asia and Africa so on and so forth. However.
Most of them don’t look similar to our in-game looking example.
(Well I made my original guide for the reason of how it featured close similarities to my country’s cultural backgrounds. As to continue my habit, to conclude my words I found yet another place’s similarity to that featured in the game)

Verbal Meanings
Take these explanations with grain of salt.
Eri oa Hiim: (The Lamentations of the Seraphs)
I don’t think I will be able to find something close to this. But it seems like an Ancient Egyptian tongue.
Jekkad:
Can be attributed to a city name. Comparing to the real life there are so many examples to be posted here.
Davoth:
There are many pronunciations of Prophet David’s name in cultures.
For example; it pronounced Davut (th) in Islamic countries.
Myriad Dimension:
Myriad means countless or extremely great numbers.
Walls of Immora:
Can be related to immorality considering the fact bad feelings relatable to hell.
Ardenite Garden:
Arden appears to be coming from the Hebrew word for the Garden of Eden, meaning a place of solitude and great beauty.
-ite suffix can be referring to surrounding materials used on that garden
Battle of Isonkast:
From a personal perspective I think it is 2 joined word ison and kast;
“ison” can be derived from the greek “iason” meaning “Healer”. “Kast” can be a regular “casting” verb.
Regarding wing removal from Samur’s after the battle.
We safe to say their health has been cast out.
Age of Nunzia:
Couldn’t found anything for Nunzia
Kezardine Veil:
Couldn’t find anything for this also.
Probably it is “2 word” or “word and suffix”. it probably from Kezar or Kezard and “-dine or -ine” suffix considering the fact, that suffix mostly used in chemistry.
However “Kezard” can be attributed to the “Caesar” too also meaning “Kaiser”.
so roughly “Kaiser Material” probably, considering inscription on the codex
“Samur shattered the Kezardine Veil and stole The Father’s life sphere.”
Siege of Kaza-Dur:
Probably referenced from; “Khazad-dûm mines of Moria” from Lord of the Rings series.
In Saruman’s words:

Pop Culture Referances
Urdak’s architectural structures feature prominent influences of biomechanical art like alien movies.
Biomechanical art was popularized in 1979 when Swiss artist H.R. Giger designed the alien creatures in the 1979 feature film Alien.
It is also stated by the designers that; Urdak’s structural elements inspired by denizens of Urdak 3D print their buildings. Which was also quite applicable to the design philosophy of both Artstyles
Storywise otherworldly beings looking similar from deep-sea squids like creatures most likely came from featured Chutulu mythos written by Howard Phillips Lovecraft.
It has been highly suggested by scientists that; if we ever find alien species, it most probably will going to be a Cephalopod.
(Organisms those limbs come out from the head like squids and octopuses)
As mostly this can be seen on many other alien-related entertainment media.

To me, I think that this can be related to fetus looking mother demon from Doom 64’s final battle.
Unmaykr has seen first on Doom 64.
What if 64’s final boss was Maykr baby, in another dimension and somehow kept by the Ancient Martians (Doom 3) just like Samurs body in UAC Rig’s underwater base. Which was awakened after being mutated and mutilated by radiation bombardments on mars.
Unmaker can be affected by hell transmutations too and can have different look on 64 because of this.

İssues with Story and Correction İdeas
Not to mention the disastrous “Release Trailer” schedule

First of all who reveals Spoiler’s early in-game?
We saw Samurs real face in the transmutation scene on ARC.
Then from codex inscriptions we saw Davoth’s stupid face and form on Codex visuals who, look suspiciously to Berserk pickup Doom Slayer?
Then while we play, we continuously concerned about it like – don’t be like this don’t be as Shadow Soni…
You know what happens????!!!!!…. . . .

Wraiths??? Lore absent and classic “Father-Son”, cliché fan spin on Religion mumbo jumbo story doesn’t add any richness to the story.
Developers must be looked upon and given some explanations about Wraiths and their backgrounds on Ancient Gods like; do they have any connections to Father? Maykrs? Harvesters? Etc. etc.

2016 Story depended heavily upon them and on Eternal beside one Codex page,
They Yeeted from the lore.
A similar approach has been done to Demonic Crucible as well.
We could have seen it on this DLC;
We didn’t used Fortress of Doom in DLC. We could took the keys of from that station,
it could have been used like a rage mode,
shooting Destroyer Blades in range and Glory animation on close.
On Ancient Gods besides 3 time use crucible.
Story wise, we could use it in order to awaken our arch-enemy alongside life sphere.
And maybe later in the hands of our arch-enemy himself. Instead of Edgy anti-version bootleg…
We could have been seen something related to 2016, heck Quake even.

Here are some ideas about Wraiths:
They are the first Angels who came into existence. (Unlike being a random creature from a random planet) Who behaved like animals and betrayed the father’s rules.
In turn, transformed and captivated on sacred İngmore Sanctum (same as…) and structures on Urdak. Some are escaped and fled to hell, some to other places, some to Argent D’Nur. In turn evolved into many creatures.
One of these forms in time, mutate into now what we call Wraiths.
They hide on the core of Argent D’Nur and when Father found out about it he threw the iron spear to the core of Argenta. In turn, the next Khans of Urdak exploited them alongside hell,
with the help of corruption in turn giving birth to argent power.
Up to Eternal’s end, we had close but not exact similarities to the religion on the lore. This was good because it gave us to think about it and improvise. Now we cannot do it because it has done by cliché closed out by Religon’s direct Trinity explanations. Ancient Gods changed it 180 degrees.
“Father of all” story, considering the fact of the title Ancient Gods.
(Seen the ” ‘s “?) There are more gods, not ONE god.
Is Devil god too? is he on par with the god there is a philosophical mismatch here, regarding of the Lore that we have now.

Instead, Maykr god story could have been this;
(Very close but more defined version.)
Maykr race were been “Pseudo gods” that flourished first from the evolutionary pool that lived for eons and developed their technics.
Who then began to continue their lineage by abusing and exploiting divine laws that have been put by AllGod. (See what i did here?)
Defying him in the process. Dismissing the rules of enslavement, abuse; also, soul torture!
They don’t look, unlike that; they describe themselves, to civilizations. They are not full-blown out the creator of all things.
Here is the money shot of the story.
Doomguy knows this, as Devout religious person, he moves to Allgod’s divine right rule.
As he did it to his commander all those times ago!
(Because he is from another dimension and can see wrong things in this dimension)

“This could have given a final definite grown up religious meaning” to the Doom Slayer.

Slayer’s face revealed to be going appeared on Eternal, at first we thought of his Neanderthal stupid face’s change from 2016’s had a purpose.
id will finally? Give him some emotional background lets go we’ll see how it will turn out.
WHİCH! he is the only game character that doesn’t needed that.
Everybody loved 2016 because of the realistic feel, mute emotions, and behaviors of the Doom Slayer.
They changed the visor, forced it to visible glass. Just for us to see hammer shark eyes of slayer. Changed one of the core elements about the game.
At first, we could have been able put ourselves in that suit as power fantasy, now it could not.
Even if we tried, we saw “backlighted” stupid eyes of his.
They even added TPS cutscenes that needed to be watched to fully understand the story.
Forced everybody to look Doomguy’s wide stupid face %60 of the time. Well some, probably most of us didn’t ask for it.(Face on HUD ok face on cutscenes are bullsh*t…)
It was even amped up in this DLC.
So; What all the hassle was for?
Why… What was the intention! What was the idea! What’s the purpose of the design choice?

Well, we could have used ideas like;
-If you want to see dark lord first face one of his warriors.
Face a second “More buffed and Visually different” version of Marauder.
Even more powerful one!
It also could have the same lore as the dark lord. Who could he be?…
Old Doomguy from 64.
Not from Leftwing Argent D’Nur.
A Marauder! From Hell!
With his entire arsenal transmuted to demonic ones. He could be named whatever else too as hell warrior.
But he would not be a Prime evil.!!! Maybe he can be, but he will not be the Final Big Baddie!
(Just thinking of it story wise gives me cringe! Grinds my teeth and makes my hair fall out.
And seeing it live in the game… I pulled the power cord of my pc when i first saw it swear.)
How could this work story-wise? We knew on 64, he stuck on hell for an indefinite amount of time.
At some point, he could have become corrupted through hell waves for eons.
Mechanical wise; it could have been a final boss and used the Ultra nightmare Bot system from Quake champions or something similar to it 1 on 1 Ultra-hard gun bot battle.

Here is another idea; Dark lord could have been Samuel Hayden all along, instead of anti-Doomguy Shadow Sonic cliché.
He could have killed the original Samur in secret at some time
(or moved into his body shell at the Rig)
and behaved in order to get up to that point on Holt. SMH! S… M… H…! Literally!

About Samur fight, instead of transmutation thing, Samur must have used first Khan Maykr’s body as seen before the Khan Maykr fight in the campaign.
Maykr body with hell force and maybe close teleporting Spirit infused Prowler could mutate 4 characters into each other. This would have given him a visual, lore wise,
and…! Boss mechanics explanation.
About spirits also. (Still, does spirits relate to Maykrs? Wraiths? Are Archviles cast down members of high Maykr society? So many questions)

If we will see that these things on the other DLC’s I’m ok. But if it will cast out like Wraiths.
Then it’s a Warning to id from myself don’t forget these.
For Ancient Gods 2, I hope we will get to see story corrections and missed issues being delivered to fans. And small things like demon biology connections between creatures that featured in the series like:
İmp – Gargoyle – Prowler (Nightmare İmp) – Summoner – Harvester – Archvile
(a different prime race I know) Hell Knight 2016 – Eternal – Dread Knight – Baron – Chared baron etc, etc.
The Explanation behind Flame belch must be added like an overheating suit must discharge heat through one system, İn order to prevent suit meltdown.
Grenades refresh overtime its ok we got it from 2016 but we use oil for Chainsaw
And Flame belch was like… ok.
We could use movement dependent mechanic for its regeneration.
p.s. We punch trees instead sawing them with chainsaw 😉

Needed Visual Changes:
- Red Maykr Drone models on Khan Maykr fights must be replaced with Ancient God’s counterparts regarding the fact of hell influenced Angels color change.
- Ammo count on the related weapon mods (Arbalest, Destroyer blade, Tactical Scope) should tell how many shots left, instead of how much ammo left.
For example like BFG Unmaykr and “25 300” to “1 12 - Ripatatoium need to be accessed at the Endgame
- Blood Decals that added on the DLC can be implemented on Doom Slayer’s Gun and Body.
Also can be toggle able from options.
The same system’s making can be used from blood and rain decals assets that added on the DLC. - And for the love of god Multiplayer skins on Campaign please id.
Final Words
Well, all that harsh talk aside, of course Covid affected the development procedure.
We can see it in the game from reused content samur background etc.
All things aside it came out very good.
But story build up so well up to this moment. Seeing our position and thinking beyond worries some of us. Even considering from 2016 up to Eternal there are many elements Retconed too much up to this point. Now Retconing all…. of that.
To give “Mirror dimension Doom Slayer” Green Light was not a good idea.
Oh it was Doomslayer all along, from universes creation to the end vice versa. WTF ?
Back then it was chill shooter about a “Regular” hard willed man vs. hell.
Now it became “pseudo bootleg devil mold of a man” vs. “everything imaginable and everything possible”.
Yes many factions featuring is good thing, but forgetting all of them and slapping shifty put on resolution to it.
Is downright insult to core fans.
Please id, directors, Marty, especially Hugo think about this issues.
