Overview
This is a guide on how to avoid the invaders in you house! Also we take a look into some of the games’ secrets. This game does not alow screenshots so this guide will lack pictures. Please report spelling errors or things I should add! Thank you very much! A Five Nights at Freddy’s 4 Guide by Shaymin and Sleepi!
How to Play
Basic Night Survival
You are a child inside of his room. You can press “x” to hide the tips. There are four places you need to interact with. The doors on your left and right, you closet, and your bed….behind you. Click on a door to run there, from here you can press CTRL (Control) to use your flashlight, or press and hold the shift key to close your door. Flick the mouse downward (like you where opening your camera in FNAF 1 and 2) to run back to your bed. In front of you you have your closet. Click on that to run over there, from here, you can use CTRL to use you flashlight and look inside and use shift to close it too. Flick down to go back (like with the doors). Now, flick down while you’re at your bed to look behind you, you can use CTRL to use your flashlight here too. Flick down to turn back around.
Screenshots/Steamoverlay
While playing Five Nights at Freddy’s 4 you may have noticed that you have no access to Steamoverlay (the menu that comes up when you press Shift + Tabs). This has never happened in any other FNAF games so if you need a reference, go do that now. No Steamoverlay means you can’t chat in-game, you can’t take screenshots, and you can’t access this guide from in-game. This is just to clear up some confusion about screenshots. If you do PRTSC (print screen) then you can paste in a paint program and then you have a “screenshot”. Hopefully, Scott will update FNAF 4 so Steamoverlay IS allowed.
Animatronic Movements/Patterns
Nightmare Bonnie
Appearing late in Night 1, Bonnie will show up at your left door. To know if he’s at your door, wait 3-4 seconds before closing your door or using your flashlight. If you hear a noise that sounds like breathing (trust me, you’ll know) then he is at your door and you need to hold the door shut until you hear footsteps walking away, and dont forget to wait until the footsteps stop to release shift. If you go to your door and you hear running foot steps (NOT CLAM / WALKING) immediately close your door because Bonnie can run in and jumpscare you. If you hear nothing after 3-4 seconds, then go ahead and flash your light, and don’t forget to. You might see Bonnie hide back around then corner, that means nothing except for the fact that you just saved your butt. Although, don’t think you’re off the hook, he will attack again, quick, he is really annoying. If you don’t check Bonnie’s door enough and don’t flash the light in it, he will come into your room and jumpscare you.
Nightmare Chica
Appearing later in Night 1, Chica acts almost the same way as Bonnie (see Nightmare Bonnie) except you can sometimes hear kitchen noises from her and she comes at you from your right door. A rare happening will occur with Chica, sometimes when she’s there and you hear breathing, it will fog your vision, but DON’T rely on that, rely on the breathing noises. If you don’t check Chica’s door enough and don’t flash the light in it, she will send the cupcake into your room!!!! What the heck!?! I thought me and him where cool. 🙁
Nightmare Freddy
Appearing at any time in Night 1, behind you on your bed, are Freddels, you can sometimes hear them and sometimes your flashlight starts to flash. Just turn around and use your flashlight on them until they leave. If you let them be there for too long, Freddy will kill you. And don’t forget the weird screaming they do, you might want to prepare yourself for that.
Nightmare Foxy
Appearing in Night 2, Foxy will hide in your closet…creepy. You will see your closet open and shut and that’s when you know he’s in it. When you walk over there, if his head is poking out when you flash your light the jumpscare noise will play, and don’t let it finish. Close the closet for a bit and then check. If you see his mouth and some body, close and wait. If you see just his hook and some of his arm and body, then close the door and wait. If you made him go away properly, a Foxy plushie will be in his place. If there is nothing in the closet, just leave. If you shine the light on the bed for too long, (for a pretty long time) Foxy will kill you. This happens every night, even Night 9.
Nightmare Fredbear
Appearing only in Night 5 and 6, Fredbear will give you some trouble at first. He attacks from both doors, the closet, AND the bed, so stay alert. If you check the hall and he’s there, DO NOT flash more than once, he’ll rekt you so hard you won’t even know what happened. If you see him, close the door as fast as you can, you’ll hear footsteps when he walks away. If you hear footsteps, then laughter, he’s either on your bed or in your closet. If he’s on your bed, keep flashing him. If he’s in your closet, close the door and wait ’till he’s gone. If you hear laughter then footsteps, he’s in either door. If you hear plain footsteps, then he’s in the other one than you where just at.
Nightmare
Fun with Plushtrap
After every night, (except 5), you get to play a minigame titled “Fun with Plushtrap”. The goal of the game is to shine your Flashlight on Plushtrap to stop him on the “X”. While your flashlight is turned off, Plushtrap will move from place to place, and if you let him get too close or the time runs out, you’ll lose. To win the game, you’re going to have to use mostly audio; when you here footsteps, that means he’s moved. (Duh) There is a certain number of times the audio cue is heard before he’s on the X, but I don’t bother listening for the exact number. What I do is this: Listen for the footsteps, then evertime you hear footsteps, shine your light, so you’ll hopefully be able to know exactly where he is.
Strategy Guide
Night 1
Okay, this is unlike any other FNAF game we have played, they dont slowly introduce you into the game, they through you right into the fire. With that in mind, let’s do this. On Night 1, Bonnie will most likley be most aggressive. But, he appears later into the night, so familiar yourself with the controls and be on look out, dont forget to check the Freddels behind you. Ignore the closet completely this night and focus on the doors and your bed. I recommend checking Bonnie’s door (left door), then Chica’s door (right door), then look behind you to check the Freddels. Keep doing that and you’ll be fine.
Nights 2-4
Now, this is where my main man Foxy rolls in, you can see Foxy in Bonnie’s door occationally, and if he gets into your room and you see your closet door move, then do as so: Bonnie’s door, Chica’s door, Freddels, Bonnie’s door, Chica’s door, Freddels, THEN check the closet. While checking the closet, I reccomend getting Foxy all the way back into the plushie state, this takes about 10 seconds. As for all the others, pick up the paste, dont hestitate MAKE SURE TO WAIT 3-4 SECONDS BEFORE DECIDING TO CLOSE THE DOOR OR USE THE FLASHLIGHT. The beathing is VERY vital now. And don’t forget about the Freddels.
Night 5
Okay, this is just a normal night right? Okay, so….WHOA, FREDBEAR! Fredbear is insanely hard when you first encounter him, he will rekt you. When you first find Fredbear, flash the light and as soon as you see him, close the door and listen for the footsteps, if you hear one set of footsteps, he is going to the opposite door, if you hear two sets of footsteps, he trolled you, and is at the door you were just at. If you hear footsteps followed by laughter, then he is either on your bed, where you just flash at him, or in you closet, where you have to preform the same technique as you would on Foxy. Good. Luck.
Night 6
Prepare your butts, this is very hard! from 12-4 you have Bonnie, Chica, Freddels, and Foxy after you, do the same rotation, but make sure to be 100% sure of yourself when you make a decision and check Foxy every rotation is he gets in your closet. Get Foxy down to his 3rd or 2nd phase so he won’t kill you, not the plush, you don’t have time. At 4, Fredbear will pay you a visit, preform the same technique as Night 5 for him.
Night 7
This is the exact same thing as Night 6, but slightly harder, and Nightmare will be taking Fredbear’s place, when he appears at the doors he will be RIGHT IS YOUR FACE, so ready yourself for that and don’t get scared and hit the wrong button. Do as Night 6 and be more agile with it and you’ll be fine.
Night 8
Wow, you did it! You made it to Night 8. I want you to take all you’ve learned from this guide and playing the game and put it all together and use all you’ve got to beat this night. It play’s just like night 7 but I want you to seriously use ALL YOU’VE GOT! I recommend getting rid of all outside distractions and play this like you mean it. I believe in you. Y’know what you’ve gotta do to that four 20 mode? Blaze it. (Ha ha, get it, 420 blazeit. Really though beat that night and don’t do drugs.) Good luck!
Night 9
Check behind you, then check the closet, keep doing this until 6 am and nothing will happen to you at all.
Eastereggs/Minigames

Honk Freddy’s Nose
If you turn around and look at your bed, click the Freddy Plushie’s nose to honk it.
Night 1 Minigame
You are locked in your room. If you walk over to you animatronic plushies, it says “These are my friends.” Walk into the door to end the minigame.
Night 2 Minigame
You are in your room and you hear laughter. Exit and go to your right to find Mangle dismantled in the room. Go left twice from here and walk into the T.V. to end the minigame.
Night 3 Minigame
You are at Fredbear’s Family Diner and you must find the exit, if you go left you are told not to go there and remember what you saw. Go right and a man in a Fredbear suit will appear and you are told to “Go left, you know what will happen if he catches you!”. Once you are on the next screen, go back to find the Purple Man putting on the Spring Bonnie (Springtrap) suit. Go left again and walk into the table to end the minigame.
Night 4 Minigame
There aren’t any new eastereggs in here, just people to talk to and remind you how much of a baby you are (they don’t understand). To end the minigame, go left, down, down, down, left, left, up, up, left, and down into your room…… wow, that sounded like a Street Fighter input. Walk towards your bed to end the minigame. I recommend exploring the world though.
Night 5 Minigame
You can’t do anything, your horrible brother and his friends decide to put you in Fredbear’s mouth. You get nommed and it looks like you die. But, you didn’t, this is the bite of ’87, good bye frontal lobe.
Night 6 Minigame
Sit back and watch the sad and happy ending to the Five Nights at Freddy’s series.
If you listen VERY closely, when Fredbear dies, you hear a heart moniter going flat.
Night 7 Scene + DLC
Okay, maybe not the end. The box has many mysteries and text reads “Somethings are best left forgotten.” Some think this has to do with Shadow/Purple Freddy and Bonnie. Well, we’ll see on Halloween. #DLC….WAIT…..Scott posted on FNAF 4 saying that the DLC will NOT be expanding on FNAF 4 or making a sequel. On his site he posted “The End? Thanks for Playing!” I hope Scott will change his mind again and expand on FNAF 4! I know that we all can’t wait to see what Scott has in store for us. There is also the fact that the box could be opened already. There is the 9th Night and the box image is labeled “Deep Nine” so, who knows anymore?

Flowers
Occasionally when look at the bed, there’s a chance to see flowers placed on your night stand. These do nothing and are purely cosmetic.
Pills
Like the flowers, strange pills can be seen on your night stand as well sometimes. These do nothing and are purely cosmetic.
IV Drip
Just like the previous two strange objects on your night stand, you can occasionally find an IV drip next to the night stand. This does nothing and is purely cosmetic.
Phone Guy Call
In the trailer and sometimes in the game, there is a garbled messed up noise, if you reverse it, pitch it to 6, save it as an MP3, and reduce the static, you hear the phone call from FNAF 1! And interestingly enough, this phone call had the bite of ’87 mentioned in it. There is mystery shrouding this.
T.V. in the Minigames
If you click a bunch of times on the T.V. and keep walking into it during the Night 3 minigame, it shows a clip of “Fredbear & Friends: 1983” many speculations are revolving around this, does this confirm this is 1983? Does this confirm Fredbear was around WITH Bonnie, Chica, Foxy, and Freddy? Is this just when Fredbear’s was established? A lot of mystery with this one.
Glitching into Night 9
On the main menu, we have to open the Five Nights at Freddy’s 4 files, (Go to %appdata%, MMFApplications, Fn4, open with Notepad) change the night variable to 9. Save it, and go back to the main menu. Then click continue. (Continue wont show a 9 next to it, but you will still go to Night 9).
Foxy Jumpscare
If you honk Freddy’s nose 21 or more times, Foxy will jumpscare you.
