Basic Survival for Noobs for No More Room in Hell

Basic Survival for Noobs

Overview

Here I will go through the things I have learned over the past 600+ hours play this beast of a game. Though remember this is all in my opinion, and works for me. Please Rate!

Okay setting up controls and getting used to the location of the keys.

Alright so first thing you’re going to want to do is make sure that you go into your game options and edit the controls and keys to suit your play style, and how ever you like to have them mapped.

Make sure you have the Mic button and the Push button to where you can reach them without having to move your whole hand to press it because you will need it. Trust me.

Me personally I keep mine on the Default, and for me the Push or Shove button is ” v.” My microphone button is my mouse scroll wheel(Mouse3) I find it easy to just puch that down as I already have my finger on it, and its not being used. Also make sure your mouse sensitivity is right for you.

Just over all make sure you have everything set so that you’re comfortable playing with it, and you can reach all the necessary keys. A big mistake a lot of people make.

Now, finding a server that you should play on.

Okay everyone knows that NMRiH is loaded with servers and most of which aren’t Englished based servers, so this is a hassle for people who don’t speak Russian, Spanish, Portugese, or whatever the language may be. You will want to be on a server with people who speak your language for you will need to use communication weather it be for asking for pills, ammo, or a weapon. Okay, once you have all of your keys mapped, and everything set up for your play style, and after you joined the server you will notice a few things such as if it is a survival map you will see the wave and number of zombies left for that wave and then zone percentages in the upper left corner of the screen. For objective it will be I guess you could say missions, or where you have to get extracted at the LZ so you will fight your way through the map following the objectives and completing them one by one.

Make sure you pay attention to the server TAGS which will be in the title of the server as portrayed in this image. This will tell you weather the server has Unlimited ammo, !guns, and whatnot!
BUT before you do that make sure to select a Character of your choice to play with!

Survival essentials.

Okay Survival, this is a game mode where you will be running arounf the map in the same areas collecting Weapons, Ammo, Equipment, and other varibles around the map to keep yourself alive.

Now basically what you want to do for this is watch the upper left corner and you will see what I talked about in the previous section about the amount of zombies, and waves. Now Just what you’re trying to do is stay alive and protect all the safe zones as long as possible or until the end of the last wave, which is normally up to wave 10, sometimes wave 15 to 20. Eliminating all the zombies to complete the wave.

You’re losing safe zones? Well don’t worry just yet. Look around the map for Fema boxes such shown in the image below. Now how to use them? Well go up to them and press your action key and hold it down, as you’re doing so you will see a red bar filling, this is the remaining amount of time it will take to get it out of the box. Now once you are holding the fema bag just make your way to a safe zone that is below 100% and drop it down right on it and it should reload the zone up 25% with each bag. Make sure you use them wisely and only after the zone is below 50% so you won’t waste them there are a limited supply of them per fema box. All in all just hold the positions and you’ll do fine.

Objective essentials.

Alrighty you like objective? As do I! this one is pretty basic, you just fight your way throught the map, kill some zombies and follow the objectives of the maps. To see what your current objective is Press your compass key, which Default I do believe is ” c.” Once you do this you will see a bar on the bottom of your screen with red and white and maybe even blue dots, you should follow the dots and complete the objectives occording to what it will tell you on the screen as you press C it will show you a message telling you what to do. After you do them all you will be put on a cut screen showing you a helicopter flying in, you just make your way to that and boom! You’re extracted.

Combat essentials.

Okay now you’re ready for the combat. So what YOU will want to DO is pick up whatever weapons suit you, whether that be a Assault rifle, Pistol, Melee, or whatever. Pick it and make sure its right for you and how you want to play, me personally I love to use them all.

Okay for Firearms, I can’t stress this enough, SAVE YOUR AMMO! Only use your Gun when you absolutely need it! Unless of course you are playing on a unlimited ammo server, in which case, spray ‘n pray baby! Just if not then please use it wisely because this is where A LOT of people screw up. They run out of ammo and have no other weapon and they are in the middle of a horde! So they are really screwed now.

Now for Melee, The best in my opinion are the light ones such as the Machete, Fireaxe, Lead Pipe, and Hatchet. Because they don’t use as much stamina and are just all around better in my opinion. Try to go for whatever you’re comfortable with though!

Now when you come against a zombie with a melee and it seems hopeless right? Wrong! All you have to do is use your Shove/Push key and it will push the zombie back so you can deal that critical final blow! When you’re about to hit the zombie with whatever weapon you are using right as soon as you hit it, spam your Push/Shove key so it can’t grab ahold of you and take a chunk out of your arm or neck or whatever. This is where the majority of the people screw up, they rush into the fight and just sit there and let the zombies hold them while they fight and swing hopelessly to get free, but in the end they always die.

Don’t be a Hero, and DO NOT SHOW OFF. Once you you get the hang of it and maybe you’re last alive you might try to show off your zombie slayin’ skills and fool around thinking you’re gonna get this and beat it and everyone will scream your name. Just don’t do it 97% of the time you will end up failing and getting your ass in a sticky situation you will never be able to get out of, so just play it cool and try to avoid the zombies as best as you can, and you’ll be fine!

Tools and Medicine.

Okay now you got to a gate on the map or perhaps a door and you’re wondering how in the hell am I supposed to open this?!?! Well quite simple really, just grab yourself a Welder and hold down your secondary attact(Aim button) on whatever it is and it should have the same loading bar as the fema bags. For those of you that don’t know what the Welder looks like here is an image.
For medicine.

1. First Aid kit. Use this if your screen is is the gray only because using it if you’re bleeding out is a waste of time because this takes a while to use and you will more than likely die before you get it finished. So use this after everything else.

2. Gene Therapy. This is much like the Pills except better because it will completely cure your current infection just in case you use pills but it always seems to come back, now take note to use this wisely as well, for it is a rare item to find. So use all your pills before you use this.

3. Pills. This is to treat your infection for a while to give you a little more time. Use this when you are infected. How do you know you are infected you may ask? Well your screen will start to face blakc and these yellowish green looking veins will come from the sides of your screen, and eventually you will completely lose sight and die.

4. Bandages. Only use this if you are still in a decent health status, and you’re only bleeding out. You will know if you look down and blood is gushing from your side, and your Character will make noises and your screen will shake.
