Introduction

On July 30th, 2013, Battle Sprites were finally released after having been hinted at for a while. These cute little things were originally E-Class Sprites that were programmed for reconissance purposes, but somehow transformed into entirely different entities. They are loyal and will help you out in the battlefield!

There are, at the time of writing, 3 battle sprites. The draconic Drakon, the adorable Seraphynx, and the shadowy Maskeraith. Each have their own abilities and are all useful in their own way.

This guide will list all of the skills, and what to invest in.

First, here's some things you should probably know.

Your sprite can and will evolve at certain levels. At the following levels it will:

Level 1-14: Gain skill points and perks.
Level 15: Evolve into it's Tier 2 form and gain it's second skill. This will require an evo catalyst.
Level 16-49: Earn skills points and random perks.
Level 50: Evolve into it's Tier 3 form and gains its third skill.
Level 51-89: Gets more skill points and perks.
Level 90-94: Can consume one Ultimate Evo Catalyst for it's first ultimate skill. Will change a small part of its appearance.
Level 95-99: Consumes another Ultimate Evo Catalyst to learn it's second Ultimate Skill and change another part of its appearance.
Level 100: Consume the final Ultimate Evo Catalyst to learn it's final Ultimate skill and change it's appearence for the last time. Still possible to gain perks, but it will eventually no longer be able to eat anything.

To level up your sprite, all you have to do is feed it a random material. Materials of a higher star level than it will level it up faster. To feed it, you have to let the Appetite Bar increase. This is done by either waiting, which takes a long time, or taking it for little runs in the Clockworks. Once it's ready to gain a level, you will be required to feed it a certain item to actually level it up. It's usually their favorite food, but when it's ready to evolve and change its form, it will require an Evo Catalyst.

The favorite materials will always be:

Drakon: Power Mote/Dust/Stone/Orb and Star.
Seraphynx: Divine Mote/Dust/Stone/Orb and Star.
Maskeraith: Shadow Mote/Dust...you get the point..

Mote is the 1 star favored food, Dust is 2 star, Stone is 3 star, Orb is 4 star and Star is 5 star.

The Drakon

Drakons are offensive based sprites that resemble...well, a dragon. They can breath fire, and are recommended for knights who are concerned with dishing out large amounts of damage. Since all of its skills are fire based, it will inflict enemies with the fire status effect (duh), which wouldn't be effective against fire based monsters, but it still does decent damage regardless.

I wonder how many times I'm gonna say fire in this section.

Skills:

  • Firebolt: More like FireBALL actually. This is the initial skill that Drakon starts out with. It shoots a fireball at your enemies, dealing damage and applying the fire status to anything that isn't resistant to it. Quite a nice skill so long as you have good aim, and the animation for it is pretty damn quick. A suggestion would be to reduce the cooldown time first. Get a harness upgrade and max out Focus, then feel free to spend the rest of your skill points in either upgrading Impact (damage) first, or Extra Crispy (chance to inflict fire). Preferably with the former.

  • Flame Barrier: Unlocked at level 15. Surrounds your knight with balls of fire that deals a little bit of damage to surrounding enemies, but most importantly, increases your defense. It's an okay skill, but the defense boost helps a bit. I would max out Heavy Smoke first, which increases the defensive power and the duration of the barrier. Then, focus on Focus (redundancy olol) for a shorter cooldown time, and finally High Heat, which increases it's damage.

  • Firestorm: Unlocked at Level 50. The drakon flies up and passes in front of your knight, damaging all enemies in its path and leaving behind some fire. This is a purely offenisve skill that's quite decent. Invest some skill points in reducing its cooldown first. From there, you can either go for Extra Crispy to increase the chance to set targets on fire, or Fire Alarm to increase the range and width of the drakon's fiery dive-bomb.

Ultimate Skills

  • Concussive Firebolt OR Meteoric Firebolt: Concussive gives a chance to stun, while Meteoric has a larger explosion radius. Both skills are pretty much the same, but Meteoric is a bit better for its greater splash damage potential. Use whatever floats your boat.

Concussive gives your Drakon a horn on its snout, while Meteoric gives it larger horns on the back of its head.

  • Scorching Barrier OR Backfire Barrier: Scorching Barrier increases the number of fireballs orbiting around you while Backfire gives you a small movement speed bonus. Get Scorching.

Scorching Barrier will make your Drakon a real man gives your Drakon a beard. Going for Backfire gives Drakon some cool looking spikes on the back of its head.

  • Frenzied Firestorm OR Explosive Firestorm: Frenzied gives you and your party an attack AND speed bonus for every monster caught in the flames, while Explosive is well, explosive. Personally, Frenzied Firestorm is better for it's bonuses. Especially if you're traveling in parties.

Choosing Frenzied Firestorm will give your drakon large...disembodied...arms? Explosive is like Red Bull. It gives you WIIIIIIIIIINNNNGGGSSSSS!

The Seraphynx

A angelic kitty cat. Seriously. These little sprites studied some ancient tomes and learned defensive holy magic. The Seraphynx focuses on skills that protect and somewhat heal your knight. If you feel that you need a bit extra protection or find yourself dying too often in the clockworks, this sprite is for you.

Skills

  • Ray of Light: Fires a EPIC LAZOR holy beam of light that pushes back enemies and deals 10-16 hits. This skill isn't so great on targets that move a lot, but is perfect for stationary targets like Battlepods. Since you probably aren't going to be using it that much, spend your skill points on maxing out Magnify and Enduring Light first. The cooldown rate is short enough for you to to max out Focus last.

  • Heart Attack: Not an actual attack. It flies up and enchants its target so that they will have an increased chance of dropping hearts and health capsules. Works better the more enemies you manage to "enchant". Put your skill points in Extra Hearty first, then do a mixture of Focus and Wide Embrace depending on what you want.

  • Angelic Aura: Generates an extra shield for your knight and your party that doesn't reduce your speed! Max out Focus first. Then do a mixture of Protection and Cover to max out defense and size + duration respectively.

Ultimate Skills

  • Dazzling Light Ray OR Disintegration Ray: Dazzling Light provides a damage bonus to fiends and undead while Disintegration reduces the enemies defences. Dazzling would be nice against Howlitzers and Zombies, but due to the fiends nasty habit of moving around a lot, I would personally go for Disintegration. Defense reduction is better than a damage bonus against only two monster families...unless you want your Seraphynx to have a gem on its forehead instead of antennae.

  • Iron Heart Attack OR Violent Heart Attack: Eh...Iron drops defense boosting orbs while Violent causes an explosion after the enemy's corpse disappears. Iron would be the better choice here.

Iron gives you an iron halo whilst Violent gives your kitty larger arms with sharp claws.

  • Seraphic Aura OR Valkyrian Aura: Seraphic Aura gives your knight(s) a faster shield regen while Valkyrian gives you better charge bonus. Valkyrian is great if you're gonna party up, while Seraphic is good for knights that have trouble surviving. Both are great skills whether solo or not.

Seraphic gives it a tail ring while Valkyrian makes its tail more fluffy.

The Maskeraith

As your knight will put it, it has a "charming" name. It is a ghostly pokemon sprite that is favored by many for the unlimited poison status it deals with it's initial skill, Caustic Quills. It also has the "charming" nickname of Poison Cow because of this. I named mine Boothulu btw. Useless fact.

Hey it's a better name than "Poison Cow". I mean come on, does it even LOOK like a cow?!

Skills

  • Caustic Quills: Toxic Spi-er I mean Caustic Quills fires spikes at your enemy that stick to it and inflict poison on anything that doesn't resist it. When you hit an enemy that has spikes jammed into it, the spikes explode, dealing extra damage. You will be spamming this skill left and right (especially in Royal Jelly Palace), so max out Focus first. Max out Venom second and Bristle third.

  • Shadow Cloak: Makes you (partially) invisible, but attacking or picking something up causes you to break stealth. I'll be honest, I never really used this skill much. It's more of an escape skill that's pretty okay at what it does. A bit. I mean it could have been better, but right now its alright.

    It's not Decepti0n but...it'll do.

  • Hexing Haze: Basically plants a ticking time bomb on your enemies. It deals more damage than the quills, but not a significant amount of damage. This skill gets cooler once you upgrade it to one of its ultimates.

Ultimate Skills

  • Vengeful Quills OR Virulent Quills: Vengeful Quills fire an additional quill everytime an enemy is hit with a quill. Virulent cause a AoE explosion that afflicts targets with poison. Both are very good options.

Virulent gives Maskeraith....arms... Vengeful gives wing-ears.

  • Deadly Shadow Cloak OR Vengeful Shadow Cloak: Deadly gives you attack and speed bonuses while Vengeful just creates an explosion if you take damage. Deadly Shadow cloak would be the best of the two here.

Deadly gives you horn that point upward while Vengeful gives you horns that point forward.

  • Haunted Haze OR Chaotic Haze: Haunted spawns a little ghost that will follow and deal damage to addtional enemies only if the haze itself kills them, while Chaotic Haze inflicts anyone caught in it with a random status effect. Chaotic is the best choice.

Haunted gives it a round mask with dot eyes that is much more creepier than the skull mask that Chaotic gives you.

Harnesses and what they do

A sprite harness is basically equipment for your sprite. Right now, it can alter what type of damage your sprite does, ad reduce your sprite's skill cooldown time depending on the tier of sprite harness equipped.

The harnesses come in 3 tiers: Regular, Advanced, and Elite. Regular ones are equipped by default. Once you buy another harness, it gets replaced.

An advanced harness reduces skill cooldown rate by 5%.

An Elite harness reduces skill cooldown rate by 10%.

These may not seem like big numbers, but hey, every bit helps.

There are four different types of harnesses. Iron, Golden, Crystal, and Dark. All cause your sprite to deal Normal, Piercing, Elemental, and Shadow damage respectively.

Some sprites can only equip certain types of harnesses.

Drakon: Iron, Crystal, Dark

Seraphynx: Iron, Golden, Crystal

Maskeraith: Iron, Golden, Dark

The costs of each harness are as follows:

Regular: 8,000 crowns.
Advanced: 32,000 crowns
Elite: 128,000 crowns

Yup. Costs a pretty penny. Take note, I have yet to test any of the harnesses other than the Iron ones. So basically if you want to save money on weapons that inflict a certain damage type, why not get your sprite to do it for you?

Conclusion

Special thanks to my fellow knights over at Tumblr for giving me some facts about the sprites. Special thanks also to those who left comments and gave me suggestions to improve this guide.

For those of you who are curious, my knight's name is Skulltani, whilst my sprite is a Maskeraith named Boothulu.

This is the first guide I've ever written, so please leave comments on what needs to be improved upon or some suggestions for this guide.
