Overview
How I beat this game on the hardest settings, and so can you!
Goal
I’m going to share my experience doing a Cassandra, Losing Is Fun, Permadeath, Rich Explorer colony in hopes that you can improve your future colonies.
Don’s Humble Beginning
Donald, a man that was set to explore beyond the stars, crashlanded on an Ice Sheet of the outer Rim.
As seen with the first screenshot, Donald came with his rich explorer items and his best friend Leonid.
Did I mention Leonid was a yak, full of juicy meat? Yeah, Leonid didn’t live to see another night at the sheet.
In all seriousness never allow your animal(s) to eat any of your precious food and slaughter them before they reach malnutrition. I believe a malnutrition’d animal does not yield as much meat as a healthy animal.
Don also used his wood to build and maintain a campfire for a few nights so he didn’t freeze to death on this cold hell.
Second screenshot. Donald accepted a refugee into his colony, even though food would be consumed twice as much, I decided the risk was worth it.
Don built a greenhouse ASAP to make up for the food loss.
Year One Of The Cannibalistic Mood Hits
Year one. Also known as the year of the sad cannibalistic life style.
First screenshot. The refugee is now gone, and Don is all alone once again. Don was forced into cannibalism or he would starve to death. The good news for Don was he did not have to eat people for the entire year, thanks to the greenhouse.
Second screenshot. I accepted another refugee named Bargents into my colony. I later found out this refugee was a traitor, but that’s not all!
Apparently I really pissed off Bargents, like I must of killed his wife, kids, and dog or something. Maybe he found out I was eating people. Anyways, he lit my greenhouse into a deadly inferno and died with it. Man, that man had a death wish and he got it.
Year Two of Friends & Construction
Donald saves this women named Red. He fell in love with her the moment he saw her. Well, mostly because he’s been alone an entire year but we don’t talk about that. Anyways, Matt wonders into the Colony and together they build up the colony like there’s no tomorrow!
Thanks to Don and his refugees grinding research we’ve finally achieved GEOTHERMAL POWER.
Year Three The Snowy Cold Hell
Don and Red are officially a couple. After many, many attempts from Don Red has finally come to love Don, probably because they’re isolated on this sheet but we don’t talk about that.
The temperatures are so low I can’t even allow my colonist outside during winter.
Year Four Of The Killbox
I finally come to building a killbox, that isn’t garbage. I’m surprised the same killbox from around day 15 actually worked this entire time. I also used the bedrooms as my killbox area sometimes.
Matthew, a legendary sniper kills all. He fears no man except… HIM. He dealt with this mechanoid ship but man this one lancher refused to die!
Year Five The Year Of Improvement
This year I built myself an armory, mortar room and an improved hospital. I also improved my killbox a bit.
Bless the Thrumbos that came to my colony. The thumrbo fur and horns help out with wealth and clothing. The meat provides food and chemfuel.
Oh and Matt got sniped by a mini mech turret. The first shot hit his brain and yeah he ded. I didn’t even realize there was LOS there so it was my bad :/
Year Six Toxic Colony
This year I get serious with my royal status for Don. Don now has a beautiful throne room for his title. Don is ungrateful for it because he’s a ascetic but in order to gain higher titles he needs a appropriate throne room.
This year was toxic for the colony. It’s not the people, it’s not the animals and it’s not the food. It’s this toxic fallout.
Year Seven The Year Of Tragedy
The colony now gets into deep drilling and focuses on grinding their resources.
Red got blasted in the brain with a chain shotgun due to a outpost raid. The helmet wasn’t enough to save her life and she died.
Donald revives his wife with the extremely rare res mech serum.
Red’s Recovery. Luciferium required to get her back on her feet.
Colony celebrates Red’s survival and Donald seems to think about life, now, he has options for whom he wants to be with thanks to the population growth.
Year Eight Of Royalty
Don grinds his royal favor by achieving royal quest. Red is still recovering and Don seems to have found new love with Neche. I also built a special secure storage room storing valued items such as sliver and luciferum.
Count title achieved!
My favorite screenshot.
Year Nine Year Of I’m Out Of Here
Thanks to Don reaching the Count title on year eight we can finally call the High Stellarch to visit my colony! If he enjoys himself here my colony may leave with the high stellarch off the planet!
Sadly the raids were easy to deal with thanks to the Psycast and royal permits. My last year on the ice sheet won’t be as epic compared to my extreme desert colony. Check it out if you have not already.
Throne Speech before the raids.
And we’re out of here!

All that remains.
Want To See My Favorite Colony?
If you enjoyed this be sure to leave a thumbs up on the guide.
If you guys seem to like the guide I’ll take the time to share my favorite colony I’ve ever played in Rimworld. This Colony was played before the time of overpowered psycast / royal permits / jump packs etc. Hope to see you there!
