I want to add this guide real fast on how to unlock minimalism achievement.
-> Play as Witch on Normal.
Get your deck to has only 10 cards in total. These are the best 10 I can think of:
After beating the game, you now have access to this reward:
[This guide will be updated further if someone has anything to add]
The latest DLC Gears Of Destiny brings us new class Mechanic, 100+ new cards, a hidden chapter and a true final boss called “Forest Spirit”.
This guide only shows you how I beat this final boss playing as Little Red Witch.
I will try to beat the game on other classes as well.
With that said, let’s jump to the 1st section:
ABILITIES
Since I use Witch in this video, might as well take a look at her core abilities.
– Confusion (CD: 6 combats): Get your next shop purchase at half price.
In combat:
-Introspection (CD: 2 combats): Spell card cost for this turn is halved. DMG taken is halved (until next turn).
-Incantation (CD: 3 combats): Deal 3 additional DMG this turn. Draw 3 cards.
=> Use Confusion to save money on expensive & powerful cards later on.
– Use Introspection to save yourself from potiental DMG burst from the enemies (you don’t really need the mana reduction effect that much with this build)
– Use Incantation if you want to finish an enemy fast, highly recommended against poison type foes, you will need to save your HP for other enemies as well. Can’t fight them if you only have 10 to 15 HP left.
GENERAL TIPS
The 1st chapter is the foundation of the game. If you are not getting lucky draws, by all means you can restart a new game on Nightmare right away. This will save you lots of times.
The game got really hard to deal with after listening to the music box and taking in all 5 curses at once so keep this tip in mind.
When you level up, focus on reward cards that deal lots of DMG like this:
Keep upgrading your initial mana through level up rewards or the Witch Apothecary. This will help maximize your 1st turn DMG when using this build.
Also, try to keep only useful cards in your deck so you can draw powerful cards easier. I struggle to beat Forest Spirit because of the unlucky draws.
UNLOCKING THE HIDDEN CHAPTER
The solution is really simple, but I will post it nonetheless.
– At the start of chapter 2, you are given this option: (only available if you own the DLCs)
– Keep on fighting till you reach the Smithy, upgrade this card:
– Now wait till you get to the Card Collector, give it to him:
– Finally, use the Amnesia Tavern:
BLESSINGS
We will try to maximize the mana gain for this build, in my case, I’m not so lucky with the blessing draw on the 1st chapter so I went with this one:
At the start of chapter 2, pick this one:
Pandora’s Box:
Picking up all the apples from the Witch, I got just what I need:
My final blessing:
=> Now you can see how this build work:
Combine with your starting equipment, Energy Extraction x Tornado x Cross Magic plus the initial mana you have increased earlier will help you deal massive DMG in the 1st turn -> Vampire Codex healing increases.
For example, if you have 20 Initial Mana, you gain 40 Mana through Cross Magic, it gives you:
40 Mana = 20 PIERCING DMG (from Magic Staff) + 8 HP (from Vampire Codex) at the start of combat.
Everytime you use mana card, Energy Extraction x Tornado gives you 3 Mana (+1 free DMG), this bonus plus the original effects of the mana cards turn you into a monster killer. You can finish most of them in 2 turns.
Ice Flame Bonfire increases your Fire DMG and basically gives you 6 ARMOR at the start of each turn (the chilled effect reduce enemy DMG until it reaches 0)
EQUIPMENTS
Down below is the set of equipment that works out really well for me:
For most of the game, I only have Magic Staff x Hurricane Staff but that’s more than enough to destroy the unfortunate enemies. Witch’s Tome is pretty self explanatory so I won’t say anything else. And Magic Staff is mentioned above.
Let’s see what makes Hurricane Staff OP:
If you use a simple spell like upgraded Fireball (7 MP, deal 18 DMG), with Hurricane equipped, you gain extra 9 MP, that extra 9 will give you another 4 extra DMG from Magic Staff passive.
Yeah, that’s just a single simple spell card. When you see the cards in the section below, you will understand what I’m talking about.
CARDS
This section will be used to discuss my favorite cards for this build:
– The weakling slayers:
– A trio on fire:
Code Of Stars effect sometimes brings you powerful spell cards, +1 card is nice.
Angry Spirit: free 10 PIERCING DMG each turn.
Magic Flames: works well with Fire type cards.
– Favorite child:
– Juicy energy drinks:
– Mr Shuffle and his amazing friends:
– Guardian angel:
– Why aren’t you banned?
– Wave harder:
– The unexpected savior:
FOREST SPIRIT
Big Boy Spirit is the definition of “I will be annoying until you beat me twice”.
Dealing DMG to the guy is not hard, killing him the 1st time is easy.
But he had the following broken passives and ways to defeat you:
– Drains 20 MP each turn (thank god we don’t have to worry about that.)
– Stacking Confession:
– Corrosion: (the ultimate Witch Killer)
– After 1st time dying, reborn and replace half of your deck with Claw Swipe
You have about 3 or 4 turns to finally put him down to the ground. The guy can stack Confession real fast to make your life hell. His other cards aren’t so broken.
=> For the final boss, I will give him: 8/10. Well because I beat him.
CONCLUSIONS
Thanks for checking out the guide.
Now it’s time for you to go and get those 0,1% achievements.
