Beginner’s guide to Comrades

Overview

A guide to FFXV Comrades.

Leveling

All missions will reward Exp and Watts and mostly equal rewarding but there are a few that you can grind to level up at better efficency.
Level 1-10
Lestallum
The Calamitous Karlabos Lvl10 Urgent
Takes a bit of time when you are low on level but gets easier as you level up your weapon.
Level 10-25
Cauthess Depot
Roboresurrection Lvl25 Urgent
Location on map:(where the cursor is)

Fairly easy even at low level, clear out the 2 Nidus first, then the mobs. Attack the MAs with a decent mace or polearm and break their legs first.
Level 25+
From here on you should be ok to beat all the V1.0 content.

Weapons

All weapons in the game are viable since Meterite shard can boost weapon’s lvl cap. These are just some recommendation that I suggest to get first since they are easier to acquire early-mid game and good to use.

Katana:

Mikazuki
Trade from the shop in Meldacio Hunter HQ if you make the trader leader. Cost 5 Ammonite Fossils, 5 Fossil Shells (both can be acquired from mining) and 20 Chrome Bits (bought from the Imperial soldier in Meldacio Hunter HQ).
Easily acquire early game, comes with 99 lvl cap, higher attack than Honebami at lvl 99 (299 vs 260) but no free skill slots.

Yoshimitsu
Trade from the shop in Meldacio Hunter HQ if you make the trader leader. Cost 1 Platium Ingot (acquired from mining) and 1 Reaper Funnybone (drop in Havoc Befalls The Hut, a lvl 28 defence mission at Cauthess Depot). Evolves into Honebami at lvl 50 if it has at least 30 STR and 30 MAG. Has an amazing skill (Flash of steel) and a free skill slot.

Polearm:

Corsesca
Trade from the shop in Cauthess Depot. Evolves into Harpoon at lvl 30 with at least 20 STR, 20 VIT, 20 MAG and 20 SPI, then evolves into Dragon Whisker at lvl 60 with at least 100 STR and 100 VIT. Good at breaking appendages.

Materials

All materials provides Exp and stats to a weapon but since weapons have a level cap, some materials can bring a weapon’s stats higher at its lvl cap.

Dragon Horn

15 STR 15 MAG 15 SPI 2500 Exp
Has a chance to drop from the Jabberwocks in The Injurios Jabberwock (Lvl 40 Urgent mission in Cauthess Depot) if you breaks the Jabberwock’s horn. Fairly rare. Provides best stat/Exp.

Barbed Poison Needle

3 STR 3 VIT 2 SPI 590 Exp
Has a chance to drop from the mobs in New King in Town (Lvl 45 Hunt mission in Cauthess Depot). Not as good as Dragon Horn at stat/Exp but more common. Focus more on defence since it provides VIT instead of MAG.

Monster Jaw

5 STR 5 VIT 2 SPI 890 Exp
High chance to drop from the Bandersnatchs in The Baleful Bandersnatch (Lvl 28 Urgent mission in Old Lestallum) if your break Bandersnatch’s head. Similar to Barber Poison Needle but focus more on attack.
Bare in mind that there’s a food buff which grands you bouns stats (could be 10%/20%/30%) while upgrading/remodeling your weapons. This buff can be acquired by RNG (when Cid shows up as the cook after a mission), or be purchased from the old lady in Lestallum using elemental stones (acquire from daily timed mission). The best way to keep this buff is create a new character, purchase the buff as the new character, switch to your main character and switch to this new character when you want to upgrade/remodel your weapon, don’t use this character in any missions since the food buff will be replaced with another if you finish a misson.
