Touhou Tenkuushou ~ Hidden Star in Four Seasons. Guide

Beginners guide on becoming a Cirno Main for Touhou Tenkuushou ~ Hidden Star in Four Seasons.

Beginners guide on becoming a Cirno Main

Overview

Is it to hard to find the best 2hu too play? This I’ll help!

Part Un: Knowing ‘Cirno’

Just watch the video and you’ll get a basic understanding of what she is.

Part Deux: Set up

When you load up the game and play it you’ll notice that it has a lot of japanese writing and then you’ll say “I can’t read the japaneses.” and it’ll be up to your imagination to know what they characters say.
If this is the case you should go here to get ‘Thcrap’
[link]
Just find the language you want to play with and your set!

Also you might want to buy the game first so… I don’t know. um, just buy it okay?

Part Trois: Controls

Because that’s what We’re here for right?
To start off let’s go over the movement and how it works.
In this game WASD is not how you move around (Not without config but seriously why change it?), in this game you use the arrow keys to move they should be next to the right shift key.

Oh and speaking of which, pressing shift will make you move slower than you actually do.

“How is that helpful?” well in this game you have about 4 best friends.

  • Your shift key
  • and your Z, X and C keys (We’ll get to them later)

While Z, X and C are consitered your best friends the Shift Key is the kind of person who may or may not be your father. No the shift key isn’t your father it’s just hypothetical. So make sure to press down as hard as you need to when it comes to using that shift key!

mean while the Z, X and C keys are the keys that come in handy when things get to be a bit rough.

  • Z makes you shoot bullets.
  • X activates Bombs
  • And then theres C, It uses your sub weapon. Or mini-bomb if you saw my review of the game.

Some misc. Buttons include:

  • Esc which pauses the game and goes through screens.
  • And ALT+F4 which wipes the screen of everything.

Part Quatre: Gameplay

Since this is a Guide on becoming a Cirno main let’s hope you picked the U+2468 to be the player. If you didn’t pick Cirno for your main then this might not be as helpful if you play as any of the following:

  • Reimu
  • Marisa
  • Or Aya

M’kay?

Cirno has a shot type that isn’t exactly going to kill anything ahead of you as she seems to prefer shooting all across the screen rather than focus one area on the screen. Is this a problem? Well from what there is to know about cirno’s high mathamatical skill it would make sence that the best shot type for her is the one that covers the most of the screen. But in a practial use it’s good for everything that isn’t a stage mid-boss/boss. in other words it’s good for at least 50% of the game.

The bomb is a great thing that cirno has because it takes up a good portion of the screen and stays around for a good amount of time. But be careful in how you use them because they go by quick and you only get 3 bombs per death (A mechanic that the majority of Touhou games have) and if you bomb during a spell card you’ll fail the capture just the same as if you die.

And the summer sub-weapon is more of the same for her shot type. It goes everywhere and does enough damage to be consitered damage. But it has an upside that allows for multiple uses rather than one time use. And while it doesn’t cover all to much of the screen it does allow for a nice spot to erase bullets in. Yes mini-bombs do that and they do AOE damage which gives you even more reasons to use them.

Part Cinq: the story of HSiFS (WARNING: MAJOR SPOILERS!!! READ AT RISK OF SPOILAGE!!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!)

Right so what is the story? well for a touhou game it fits in nicely with the other games.

Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall.

Long ago the four seasons lived in peace. Then everything changed when the fire nation Okina attacked.

Only the last Bakabender, master of all seasons could stop her.

And that’s as far as I can go with the intro of Avatar before it goes off of what this game’s story is.

Cirno fights a gigantic amount of enemies.

  • A Super-Ultra Death Killer Fairy
  • A Woman who has studied the blade
  • A Dog who might be best dog
  • A statue with a vietnam hat (¯_(ツ)_/¯)
  • Jake Paul and Logan Paul
  • A Woman who has a hobby of opening back doors and stealing seasons.

There’s also a whole bunch of Fairies that you fight in between the mentioned characters and the Stage 6 boss is also the Extra boss.

*Also Cirno dies at the end of touhou 17 Mima resurrection.

*Zun may change this 😛

Part Six: Tidbits and Lingo

Hoping that you aren’t fully knowlegable of the subculture of Touhou this section is for you!

  • Graze: A special point that you get for every bullet that passes your hitbox but doesn’t hit it. Get plenty of these for goodness’ sake! Unless you’re playing Touhou 10.
  • PIV (Point Item Value): the amount of points you get for getting blue items. it goes up by getting graze in other games, but in this game you use your sub-weapon to increase this number.
  • Rank: Depending on what difficulty you play this changes to make the game harder or easier (Maybe…).
  • Best Grill: An inside joke that means that someone thinks a character is trash. Trash still means trash BTW.
  • Safespots: A spot in a certian part of the game with no chance of dying involved.
  • No need for an Umbrella: A meme responce to a person who can play Touhou with ease.
  • Baka: Japanese Meme word for idiot.
  • ‘Lunatic’ difficulty: The defacto hardest difficulty in all Touhou games and killer of 1ccs. Tests one’s bravery by sending them into the fray.
  • 1cc: Short for 1 credit clear.

There are many varients of 1ccs including

  • LNMNB (Lunatic No Miss No Bomb AKA: Perfect Run): The highly coveted run varient of the entire community. Very hard to get too!
  • LND (Lunatic No Death): A game where bombs are used but no deaths were gained (on the players side)
  • Score Run: A run where the player goes for the highest amount of points they can possibly get. Pretty fantastic to see how they do it.
  • X FPS run: A game with an FPS that is not 60. Often times is 90 FPS or higher. though there have not been any 1 FPS runs to my knowlege.
  • No Vertical/Horizontal: Often used on Extra stages where the player doesn’t use the up/down keys (vertical) or the left/right keys (horizontal)
  • No/Low Graze: A run where the player gets as few graze points as possible. Usually played on easy modo.
  • TAS (Tool Assisted Speedrun) run: A run made to be as perfect as possible using tool assistance.
  • LNMNBHSXFPSNV/HNGECECNHTAS (Lunatic No Miss No Bomb High Score X FPS No Vertical/Horizontal No Graze Eyes Closed Ears Closed No Hands TAS run): The Holy Grail of the whole of the Touhou community. Only Jesus Christ and Nicholas Cage have gotten such a run.

Part Sept: Celebrating Cirno Day

How exactly does one celebrate a day for an entire community that doesn’t have an exact way to celebrate such a day? You came to the right place then.

  • Making the Ice:

Get yourself a lot of water. Like a lot of it. Then turn that water into ice. When the day comes around just take the Ice outside and SMASH it on the ground. Do it while saying BAKA BAKA repeatedly.

  • ALS Bucket Cirno Edition:

Remember that old ALS Ice bucket challenge? Why not make it Touhouified by listening to Beloved Tomboyish Daughter? All while Screaming BAKA! BAKA! for the whole neighborhood to hear.

  • Mortal Kombat: Cirno Edition:

Open up a game that has cirno in it and play as her or fight her. The easiest choice to make in comparison with the previous options.

Or just type “⑨ Day!” on everything relating to Touhou.

Part Huit: Yukkuri ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Ne!

Take the series easy.

It is hard. But that is okay, because that is how it’s built.

In a way it is what makes the games fun. Being something to come back to time and time again too and finding new ways of getting that 1cc.

Take note of what the Pastry filled head tells you and “Take It Easy!”

Part Nuef: The End

Ok yeah I don’t have any sort of special ending to this unfortinately. So here is a picture of cirno dabbing the haters away.

9/9/2019 update: 105 views? Nice :^)
9/9/2020 update: 311 views? that’s a lot! thanks ;3
