Home Wars Guide

Beginners Walkthrough for Home Wars

Beginners Walkthrough

Overview

Hello, fellow Home Warriors!I’ve been scanning the forums and realized that a lot of the guides are incomplete or lack content sufficient enough to actually help people out. This game is confusing I will admit and after watching a few videos from BaronVonLetsPlay (Check out his youtube channel) and playing the game for myself, I have figured out how to actually play this game. Now my way may not be the best for you. You may have a different play style and that’s perfectly okay. If it gets you through the game then that’s all that matters. If you can please share that information and please don’t flame anyone. So without wasting any more time lets begin!

Introduction

So you bought Home Wars, loaded into the game, and started a new campaign. You most likely disregarded the handbook and just jumped right in not knowing what the hell you doing. You build some random buildings confused as you run out of resources. You end the turn and make a new army. A few turns later the bug swarm comes and you are forced to defend the base from it. You fight the battle and watch all of your soldiers get torn to shreds and you’re in disbelief. You lose the campaign. Even more confused than when you first started you load in and try again. You go a different route and your result is the same, bug swarm destroys everything and you are back in the main menu. This was my first experience with the game.

After doing some research and actually reading I decided to start again. The beginning turns and set up before the first swarm gets to the room is what counts. If you don’t set up correctly you may lose the campaign.

Turns

I will be explaining how to play the early stages of this game in turns. As the first 4 turns are very crucial to your campaign against the bugs, you could fail if you don’t set up correctly. So I this guide aims at giving you a walkthrough of the first 4 turns on the first map of the campaign.

Turn 1

Unlocked:

  • Assault Trooper
  • Sapper
  • Supply Truck

Explanation:
These are your three basic units. 2 of them are essential while one of them you will get upgraded versions along the way. Without supply trucks, you will have no way to get ammunition to your troops. Without Sappers, you will not be able to complete the first battles when the swarms show up (Blowing up the nest). The sappers can also build defenses before a battle starts which is what you will need in every battle.

Buildings:

  • 2 Plastic Factories
  • 1 Metal Factory

Explanation:
Just basic resources. I’ve seen people start 1 Plastic Factory, 1 Metal Factory, and 1 Power Station which is fine as well.

Turn 2

Build:

  • Power Station

Explanation:
If you already built the power station, build another plastic factory

Recruit

  • 3 light riflemen
  • Use Remaining funds to build a small army. Make sure to have at least one sapper and supply truck in it and fill the rest out with assault troops.

Explanation:
The light riflemen are to be sent to capture the flags on turn 3 outside of the “Home room” to get additional resource gain. The army you just built with the sapper is now the start of an actual defense force.

Turn 3

Troop movement:

  • Send scouts to capture forward positions.

Build:

  • Metal Factory

Recruit:

  • Assault Troopers with remaining funds

Explanation:
Recruit until you run out and add it to your defense force. You will need to fight soon. If you feel uncomfortable about not having enough troops, skip on building the metal factory and recruit a bunch of troops.

Turn 4

The bugs have arrived and are attacking your forward position!

Troop Movement:
Send your defense force to fight against the bugs. At the start of the battle put all units on the field and start it. Pause and build 2 hescos and 2 barb wires, Unpause and move all soldiers under it and have your sapper build everything. Once sapper is done, put him on the back line. Now fight it out. If you lose you lose. Just quickly build a new army and don’t build anything. If you defeat the swarm, get your sapper to run to the nest (Looks like an ant hill) and blow it up.

Build:

  • Military Academy

Explanation:
Gives 10 exp per turn, you will need it to unlock more units.

Recruit

  • What you can to fill up a defense with remaining funds

Mid to Late Game Notes

Congrats you survived the first few turns of Home Wars! From here on out you will have to decide what to do and unlock. There are many options for you to choose from among the unlock tree. You can choose where to go, there is no best or worst tree, they all achieve victory just the same. Though for certain bugs you will need certain vehicles or troopers to deal with them. For level 1 you can survive with just rifle men, sappers, and supply trucks. As you get into level 2 and 3 you will need to evolve your army.

As for buildings, this is my set up for the end game.:

  • 2 Plastic Factories
  • 2 Metal Factories
  • 3 Power Stations
  • 4 Military Academies
  • 1 Incendiary Factory
  • 1 Toxic Factory
  • 1 Scavenger Factory
  • 1 Launch Center
  • 1 Slot is open for your choice.

Make sure you continue to build soldiers and buy ammo!

Last Notes

Thanks for going through this guide! I hope you found it helpful! If you want to add please leave a comment down below. Please do not flame me or others. Let’s help each other build this guide up and get more people playing this awesome game. As I’ve said there may be better ways to start off or play this game. Certainly, there are different ways but this is how I found my way out of the first 4 turns which seem to be the most important. So if you find a better way, please share it! I’m open to changing this guide up.
