Overview
Did you just buy a hardcore came and cannot decide between 4 new characters? Instead of trying each of them, save your time and read the guide.
Overdecision
So you got 4 choices to pick from. I’ll tell you now if you’re new, two of them are going to help you and two are going to screw you over. Which one’s which you’ll see. Also, I suck at this game because I’m more comfortable with games that give you one life, and I don’t feel as bad if I lose one of the six lives for a stupid mistake but you’re going to want all of them for the bosses. (disregard the robot and bullet, you’re not that good yet)
The Convict
Don’t make the mistake I did, don’t play her as a beginner. That’s it go home.
BUT WHY? Well first her second weapon is a shotgun, and shotgun means go closer = more damage. But you should never be that close if you haven’t learned spacing or dodging or weaving or all that good stuff. This also doesn’t help when her passive ability is about taking damage to deal more damage. You’re incentivizing taking damage as a beginner to dish out more damage instead of using it as a tool to return fire. On the topic of fire, her active item is a molotov cocktail that recharges which is pretty useful. But if you just installed the game I don’t think you would understand how items work, and you’d probably panic and step into the fire which is not good.
I’d give the Convict a 2/5 for beginner-friendly.
The Marine
So the Marine is honestly the most beginner-friendly. The Marine’s loadout is made to keep you as alive as long as possible. First, we have his helmet, basically letting you tank a hit, making him a little bit more buffer than the other characters. Plus, his two abilities are really helpful for beginners. His passive ability increases you’re accuracy, helping those who are tired of the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ sidearms you start with, and his active ability basically gives you ammo. This is helpful for those who spam their new gun and kinda run out of ammo before the boss fight.
I’d give a Marine 20 stars out of 5 for beginner-friendly.
The Pilot
See I love the Pilot. People really think he’s kinda thrash which is true but I love him for one reason: passive abilities.
The Pilot has a pretty bad starting weapon. His active item is also pretty luck-based which people think having a “consistent means” to open chests is better. But the reason I love the Pilot is because of the two passive abilities. One: reduced prices at the store. Who doesn’t like cheaper stuff? The store is already pricy as it is, why not make it a lil cheaper. Two: more ammo and carrying storage. Honestly, this one is kinda useful but you’re not going to really notice it. He becomes better more at the end game, which is kinda bad for a beginner. But, those passive abilities might help you.
I’d give the Pilot a 40%/5 for beginner-friendly.
The Hunter
The Hunter is the second most beginner-friendly in my opinion. Unlike the pilot, she is actually good. And unlike the convict, her second weapon is useful. Her crossbow is good at one shooting most enemies of the first level. AND SHE HAS A CORGI WHAT ELSE DO YOU WANT. I still don’t know what the corgi does, I remember that it does something with items.
I looked it up and it has a 5% chance of giving an item after defeating a room which is like actually good. And it can detect mimic chests, something beginners don’t really worry about. AND YOU CAN PET IT OH MY GAWD
I’d give the Hunter a corgi/5 for being beginner-friendly
But seriously she is like a 5/5
Conclusion
Here is my tier list
- The Marine: Consistent and reliable, is going to let you live longer
- The Hunter: Corgi and very nice crossbow
- The Pilot: Has 2 passive abilities and pretty bad at lockpicking
- The Convict: Don’t play this one
So this is the first guide that I’m actually publishing it. Rate it and stuff. Peace
Also, leave any comments if you learned something or think I might be wrong. I like to think I am right though, so you are nitpicky and biased if you think this was not a good guide.
