Overview
This guide will, well… guide you, through all of the achievements and the ways I got them in Budget Cuts. I have decided not to include all the collectibles because there is a wonderful guide for that already linked here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1429855344 . I have done my best to optimize these achievements and make them as straightforward as possible. It is my recommendation that you play through the game on standard difficulty first and get all the achievements. Then play through on Extra while getting all the collectibles, but it’s up to you. You could also play your first run on Extra and get all the three difficulty achievements at once.
Missing Link
This one is pretty straightforward. Simply go through the game smashing mugs. I actually got this one as part of a bug. After I smashed the mug in the starting tutorial area I unlocked this one. But if you go through the game knocking bots out with mugs at every turn like I did, then this should come easy.
No Brainer
This achievement is easy enough to get just by playing the game. All you need to do is headshot 10 employees. I believe in you.
If I Can’t Then None of Us Can
This one is also relatively easy to complete. In the first level after you’ve shot over into the second building, as soon as you go up the elevator to the third floor turn right.
Simply teleport behind the supervisor bot and steal his gun like so.
Keep in mind they have to be alive and “conscious”, if you can call a robot conscious.
Keep in mind Part 2: Get ready to run. He won’t be too happy with you…
Me Love Cookies
Another simple one to get if you’re looking. You must eat 8 cookies in under 4 seconds. In the second level, once you make it to Distributions as shown below:
Turn to the right and you will see the Kitchen.
In the Kitchen there are more than 8 cookies for you to shove in your face. I recommend putting all 8 onto a table and just speed eat one after the other.
Junk Food
This achievement isn’t very intuitive. I spent a good 20 minutes trying to get a roomba to eat everything from a whole cookie to the blood of its co-workers. Eventually I actually got this one on accident and realized the roomba needs to eat your translocator ball. So in the same Distributions area as before:
Just shoot your translocator in front of the roomba crawling around and you should have it. Try not to think about what would happen if you accidentally teleport inside of a roomba.
Two by Two, Blue on Blue
This is where things got a little tricky, but I’m proud of my solution to this one. The goal of this achievement is to get one supervisor bot to “fire” another one, aka get one bot to shoot another. This is done in the room after the level 2 keycard door in the robot manufacturing area:
This is a multi-step process but you’re just going to have to trust me. Grab a mug from the kitchen area right before the level 2 door, and put it in your inventory.
Then go through the door. You’ll have to find the keycard yourself cause I can’t hold your hand through everything. Once through the door at the end of the room you’ll see one bot chilling facing away from you and one on patrol. Alert the one on patrol by waiting until he sees you and then ducking behind the wall.
Equip the mug and wait for him to run through.
Then smack him in the face to knock him out.
Now crouch down on your floor behind the unconscious bot and prepare to make some noise so the other one turns around.
Then as soon as you alert the other one, grab the unconscious bots body and try to drag it up in front of your face so his friend shoots him. Boom achievement gotten.
Luckily there’s a save point right before this because you can get multiple achievements here.
Long Shot/Sniper Achievements
Those two achievements are to kill an employee (either friendly or aggressive) from 10 meters and 20 meters away respectively.
In the section directly after getting the “Two by Two, Blue on Blue” Achievement, stand in between the meeting room and the middle desk looking towards the barricaded building entrance with the 5-6 guards down there. Then shoot your translocator to the edge of the balcony as shown in the screenshot above to line up your shot. This part takes a few tries but I believe it to be the best way.
This should earn you both the “Sniper” and “Long Shot” Achievements.
Sidenote: I recommend using some mugs to knock out the friendly employees around the area first because I killed some on the windup and it ruined my shots.
Drop Dead
This one is achieved by dropping any stabby thing on a bot from above. A surefire way to do this is if you just look over the balcony after the “Sniper” Achievement. You will see a friendly bot below you and with a little effort you can drop a knife into the top of his head.
An alternative way to do this (aka how I did it on accident) is by standing next to a friendly bot and just holding a knife over its head and letting go. Either way works, but I’m sure the way I did it is not the developers vision.
Hugin and Munin
This achievement is gotten by holding both Crow Collectibles in your inventory at once. I recommend using the collectible guide linked in the description of this guide to find them both. One is in the second lost and found behind a box on the shelf. The other is in the area with the “Sniper” Achievement, you travel through a hidden vent in the meeting room.
Headbutter
This one is relatively easy. In level 3, once you’ve gotten into the Production area, you will see 2-3 drones flying around. Simply grab one out of the air and throw it at your head whilst simultaneously smashing your head into it.
Be careful not to violently throw your VR headset off your head while a supervisor bot happens to turn the corner, leaving you blind and defenseless. Not that I’ve done that or anything…
Breakfast of Champions
For this achievement all you have to do is eat a cookie and a bar of chocolate at any point in your play-through. They don’t even have to be in the same level as far as I’m aware.
The first bar of chocolate I found was in level 3, right around where you would get the “Headbutter” Achievement. You know your’re close after the first inventory clear checkpoint:
In the Accounting room, somewhere around the far left corner there will be “Filip Tengwall’s” desk. On that desk should be a chocolate bar, and there are enough cookies in this game for you to figure that one out yourself.
Collector/Master Collector Achievements
These achievements claim to be gotten after collecting every single standard collectible and gold collectible, respectively. However I got both of these after accidentally finding the first crab collectible so it may be bugged. Either way just follow the collectible guide I linked and you should be fine.
Done Deal/Standard Procedure/Pushing the Envelope
These achievements are gotten by beating the game on Relaxing, Standard, and Extra difficulties, respectively. However you can get all three by beating the game on Extra in your first run. But I played through standard once, got the first two and then played through Extra. It’s up to you how you do it.
Conclusion
I am up to 10 or so games with 100% achievements, and I often use guides when hunting for the tricky ones. So I figured it was about time I gave back when I didn’t see any general achievement guides for this game. This has been my first guide ever, feel free to leave notes. Thanks for reading and best of luck with your achievement hunting! 😀
P.S.
As I mentioned in the beginning I excluded all of the individual collectible achievements because JBonePen has already done such a wonderful job aannnddd it saves me a lot of work :3
Make sure you check his guide out for those remaining achievements: [link]
