Camo Guide - Ghost War PVP for Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon® Wildlands

Camo Guide – Ghost War PVP

Overview

This guide covers the various camo techniques, and a set of 3 presets you should (subjectively) use on every character. A lot of the camo types are interchangable, and I encourage anyone reading to tweak these camos if you think it’s necessary. It’s by no means definitive and it’s simply coming from someone with a bit of experience with camos in game and irl.

Introduction to this guide

Hi there.

If you’ve clicked on this guide, you probably know already what to expect, but to cover my ass one more time I’ll restate the obvious: This is purely subjective. Therefore I encourage anyone reading to tweak their presets in anyway they want.

Putting that aside, this guide will show you some simple presets I use. Since every character can only have 3 outfit presets and there are far more maps in the game than three, its important to make these three presets as versatile as possible, its also important to note that you might not even use certain classes on certain maps, therefore this could be streamlined even harder on a class to class basis, but that’d make this guide a 2 hour read, and I don’t have the patience to write that.

Between every preset there will be some shared components, for one: I will be using a female character in all of them. This is because female characters share a smaller shoulder width to male, making their hitbox slightly smaller and making them slightly harder to find. I’m also going to use brown eyes as adding colour to your camo is slightly counterintuitive. I personally use Soot Face B on my Facial Paint spot, however something like Screaming Eagles, Stalker Face Paint, or Pathfinder work on certain presets too, its down to personal preference really.

Final note: It should be obvious, but camo doesn’t affect singleplayer/coop in any notable way. AI doesn’t care if you wear bright pink or a full set of ghillie, they won’t see you anyway.

Preset 1 – Urban combat / Desert

APPEARANCE

GENDER – Female (Female models are harder to hit/find due to smaller shoulder width)
EYE COLOR – Brown (Brighter eye colours can compromise your camo)
FACIAL PAINT – Soot Face B (Interchangable with others, this is just what I personally use)

CLOTHES

TOPS – Crye Combat Shirt (AOR 1)
VESTS – IBA / Warrior (AOR 1)
PANTS – 5.11 Tactical A (AOR 1)
FOOTWEAR – Hiking Boots (Coyote Brown)
GHILLIE SUITS – None

ACCESSORIES

EYEWEAR – None
FACEWEAR – Artillery Balaclava (AOR 1)
HEADWEAR – None
HEADSETS – Earpiece
HANDWEAR – Kevlar Gloves (Sandstone)
BACKPACKS – CamelBak (AOR 1)

This outfit works great in urban fights and desert maps. The reason you should have at least one “urban” preset with no ghillie is because the ghillie suits can poke out over cover, making them a detriment as a defender. I personally use AOR 1 as it works fine in both desert and urban enviroments (also works fine on snow maps), however this is interchangable with other sandy camos such as: Multicam Arid or CADPAT AR, choose whichever suits you best.

Preset 2 – Boreal/Desert brush ghillie

APPEARANCE

GENDER – Female

CLOTHES

TOPS – Crye Combat Shirt (Kryptek Highlander)
VESTS – IBA / Warrior (Kryptek Highlander)
PANTS – Ghillie Strands (Kryptek Highlander)
FOOTWEAR – Hiking Boots (Coyote Brown)
GHILLIE SUITS – Strands (Coyote Brown)

ACCESSORIES

EYEWEAR – Scout Headset (Kryptek Highlander)
FACEWEAR – Artillery Balaclava (Kryptek Highlander)
HEADWEAR – None
HEADSETS – Earpiece
HANDWEAR – Kevlar Gloves (Sandstone)
BACKPACKS – CamelBak (Kryptek Highlander)

As the name clearly states, this preset is great for boreal/brushy maps. I use this consistently on maps such as Deforestation or Desert Outpost.

Preset 3 – Jungle/Green forest ghillie

APPEARANCE

GENDER – Female

CLOTHES

TOPS – Crye Combat Shirt (Cad Pat TW)
VESTS – IBA / Warrior (Cad Pat TW)
PANTS – Ghillie Strands (Forest Green)
FOOTWEAR – Hiking Boots (Forest Green)
GHILLIE SUITS – Strands (Cad Pat TW)

ACCESSORIES

EYEWEAR – Scout Headset (Cad Pat TW)
FACEWEAR – Artillery Balaclava (Cad Pat TW)
HEADWEAR – None
HEADSETS – Earpiece
HANDWEAR – Kevlar Gloves (Forest Green)
BACKPACKS – CamelBak (Cad Pat TW)

This one’s a must have. A huge majority of Ghost War maps require the use of jungle ghillie. This should keep you invisible to most, I’ve had a surprising amount of people practically bump into me and still fail to notice me while wearing this, so if it works for me, it should work for you.

Conclusion

Just to repeat myself; I highly encourage you tweak these presets to match your pesonal preferences. Nothing said here is 100% optimal because it never really will be.

Another thing to consider is weapon camo. I personally run KT Nomad/Brown as they’re a fine middleground between the three presets (Unlike outfit presets, you cannot quickly switch your primary and secondary presets while loading into a match, it’s cumbersome and you might screw it up and click on a terrible camo, therefore choosing a in-between camo for your weapons might be the best choice here).

Finally: I recommend putting these on the same preset slots if you’re going to outfit multiple classes, unless your CPU is out of this world it’ll probably take you a second or two to load in the character model when cycling between presets, if you were to check all 3 when trying to figure out which one’s the boreal one while loading into a map, it might waste time unneccesarily. Plus its extremely inconvenient.

Good luck out there! I’m making this guide for any new/returning players coming to play Year 2. Have fun 🙂

P.S. Ubisoft, please let us save presets and simply apply them to other classes. It takes a good hour to set all of your classes up like this. It sucks. Fix this. Please.
